June 4 – we land, we taxi to the gate, we collect our bags, clear customs & immigration, and meet our guide for a panoramic city tour of Edinburgh, both the Old Town and New Town, on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. After check-in at our city center hotel we'll have some time to relax. This evening is free to explore on your own. Overnight Principal Hotel, Edinburgh. (B) Fri. June 5 - Breakfast! Try the haggis! Then our guide will lead us to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, associated Scottish historic figures such as Mary, Queen of Scots and Bonnie Prince Charlie. Today it is used by the Queen on official engagements in Scotland. Next we visit the 12th century Edinburgh Castle which houses the Honours (Crown Jewels) of Scotland, and the Stone of Destiny. The remainder of the day will be free. Seamus will have a musical soirée this evening. Overnight Principal Hotel, Edinburgh. (B) Sat. June 6 - More haggis, anyone? This morning we cross the river Forth towards the Highlands. After a short stop in the Victorian holiday village of Pitlochry we reach the Cairngorms National Park. Lunch here while taking in the majesty of the ancient Caledonian Pine Forests of the Rothiemurchus Estate, then north to Inverness. Overnight Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness (B, D) Sun. June 7 - Ooh, look, haggis! This morning we go east to Culloden Battlefield, site of the last battle fought on British soil, and then to the Clava Cairns, before enjoying a legacy tour and a dram (or two?) at Tomatin Whisky Distillery. Then it’s back to Inverness for the evening and a little night music. Overnight Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness (B, D) Mon. June 10 - Breakfast, white pudding (kinda like haggis!), then a local guide will lead us on an informative and entertaining walking tour of the city to explore its lanes, streets and stories. In Smithwicks Brewery, we experience the brewing process, and sample the amber ale. This evening, a little exploration or a quiet pint in one of Kilkenny’s many fine pubs before dinner in our hotel perhaps? Seamus Delaney's, anyone? Overnight Hibernian Hotel, Kilkenny (B, D) Thu. June 11 - Breakfast, (black pudding, nothing like haggis!), and we head to the Rock Of Cashel, a limestone outcrop of 12th Century fortifications, cathedral, chapel and castle. After an audio/visual presentation, time to stroll the grounds on our own. Great photo ops here! Then, on to the famous Blarney Castle in Co. Cork, where we can climb to the top and kiss the stone to receive the ‘gift of the gab’. Explore the grounds, shop in the Woollen Mills or have a pint in the pub, tough decision! Now, over to Killarney and some free time to have a little wander around town before dinner. Overnight Great Southern Hotel, Killarney (B, D) Fri. June 12 - After breakfast (the full Irish!), let's travel along the Dingle Peninsula to enjoy stunning views of the Slieve Mish Mountains and the open Atlantic Ocean. Who knows what musical interlude Mr. Kennedy has planned for this evening? But it will be fun! Overnight Great Southern Hotel, Killarney (B) Sat. June 13 – A leisurely breakfast in Killarney, then a short jaunt to the village of Adare where we can enjoy some free time in town while our bags are transferred to the Manor. Arrive at the beautiful five-star Adare Manor in the early afternoon with time to explore the grounds or take part in one of the many activities available on site. This evening we'll enjoy our farewell dinner together in the Carriage Restaurant. Don't forget your Party-piece! Overnight Adare Manor, Limerick (B, D) Sun.
