implementation components: This publication is an overview of the progress of the Convention on Biological Diversity Programme of Work on Protected Areas (CBD PoWPA) in Dinaric Arc Programme Element 1: Direct Actions for Planning, Selecting, Establishing, Ecoregion (DAE) in the period from 2004 till 2011. Countries included in the Strengthening, and Managing, Protected Area Systems and Sites review, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, and Slovenia, are the countries involved in WWF Protected Areas for a Living Planet – Dinaric Arc Programme Element 2: Governance, Participation, Equity and Benefit Sharing Ecoregion (PA4LP – DAE) project. The review defines future challenges and priorities and it also shows how WWF PA4LP – DAE project contributed to the Programme Element 3: Enabling Activities implementation of PoWPA and to what extent. The region extends from its border with the Alps in Slovenia through Croatia and a large part of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, ending in the north of Albania. It is characterised by Dinarids ‐ a central mountain range that extends into Serbia, Kosovo and Macedonia. WWF Protected Areas for a Living Planet ‐ Dinaric Arc Ecoregion project, includes five countries, part of Albania (41,09 %), almost twice as large surface area of Bosnia and Herzegovina (80,53 %), part of Croatia (50,65 %), Figure 1. Mediterranean region Slovenia (31,94 %) and the whole Montenegro (100 %) which is all together 137.000 km2. The region is characterised by karst phenomena. Water erosion transformed carbonate bedrock into surface and underground karst features, home to some unique species, including the endemic cave salamander Proteus anguinus. The cave system represents the largest underground river system in Europe and is therefore an extremely important source of water for the entire region. The warm Mediterranean climate has had a significant impact on the diversity of flora and fauna in the Dinaric Arc. Habitats which differ dramatically can be found within short distances. Freshwater

DASHI, launched by WWF in 2011, aims to reduce the adverse impacts of hydropower development in the Western Balkans and to promote good practices in the region. The Initiative focuses on the protection of the region’s most precious freshwater ecosystems, in particular Ramsar wetlands such as Livanjsko Polje and Hutovo Blato in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Lake Skadar shared by Albania and Montenegro.     Bosnia and Herzegovina: Public Opinion on Foreign Influence and Violent Extremism March 7, 2019 – March 26, 2019 Detailed Methodology • The survey was conducted on behalf of the International Republican Institute’s Center for Insights in Survey Research by Ipsos Bosnia and Herzegovina. • Data was collected between March 7 and 26, 2019, through in-home, in-person interviews using the CAPI (Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing) method. • A total of 2,190 interviews were completed with an overall margin of error of +/- 2.1% at the midrange of the 95-percent confidence level for the full sample. • A nationally representative sample was based on a multistage stratification proportionate to population sample distribution, with a random selection of households and respondents within each Primary Sampling Unit (PSU). The first level was the region and the second level was urbanity. • Using data from the 2013 census as statistical reference for sample design, the sample is made up of citizens of BiH, aged 18+. • Sampling frame: address registry within strata defined by region and type of settlements (urban and rural). • Targeted oversampling was conducted in four areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina that have been identified as susceptible to radical tendencies: Zenica-Doboj Canton (n=148), Una-Sana Canton (n=188), Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (n=206) and Republika Srpska East (n=102). Oversampling in these areas sought to yield more specific insights into the public’s perception of the role of religion in society, the presence of extremism, and interethnic tension, among others. • Households were selected by a random route technique. • Respondent selection was made using random selection, any member of a household with the same probability (SRSWoR).

    ABOUT CITY OF BIHAĆ Bihać is a city and the administrative center of Una-Sana Canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, an entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is situated on the banks of river Una in northwestern Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the Bosanska Krajina region. As of 2013, it has a population of 56,261 inhabitants, area covered is 900 km², elevation: 230 m Population (750 ft).
