Weekend improvement works Saturday 26 to Monday 28 August and Saturday 2 to Monday 4 September

What we’re doing , operators of the Light Rail, are undertaking preventative civil maintenance and vegetation works between Darling Drive and Exhibition Centre and between and Dulwich Hill. To improve service reliability and reduce the need for ongoing maintenance, we’re working on:  installation of concrete sleepers between Wentworth Park and Glebe  track tamping at Exhibition, Glebe to Wentworth Park and Jubilee to Bay  system upgrades in Glebe and Leichhardt North tunnels  substation inspections  cable installations  vegetation maintenance at Glebe, Rozelle Bay, Lilyfield to Leichhardt North  graffiti removal  routine network maintenance. By combining an extensive program of works into two consecutive planned weekend shutdowns, we aim to minimise the disruption to customers and community. We understand this work will have an impact on you and your neighbours. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

How this affects you Noise and light pollution  Work will take place around the clock from 12am Saturday until 4am Monday, both weekends 26-28 August and 2-4 September.  These works will generate additional noise at night and over the weekend.

Further information  Residents can expect to hear noise from rail maintenance vehicles, vegetation clearing tools and work parties at various locations throughout the network.  Every effort will be made to reduce the impact to residents while work takes place. Vehicle movements will be reduced and work parties will use hand tools, where possible. Plant and equipment will be switched off when not in use. Where required, any dust generating activities will be suppressed.  Equipment may be delivered to the worksite outside of this time.  Due to travel restrictions on large vehicles, some of these deliveries may need to take place at night.  Finishing works may take place following this period, including the removal of equipment.  Light pollution will be minimised by work parties directing lights away from properties.  The NSW Environmental Protection Authority has been notified of these planned works.

Traffic and parking  Heavy vehicles will use local streets to access parts of the light rail corridor at Edward Street (Pyrmont), Railway Street (Glebe), Brennan Street (Lilyfield) and Hercules Street (Dulwich Grove).  While we will park our vehicles inside the rail corridor where possible, please be aware that on street parking may be limited near the worksite.  Traffic control will be in place in Glebe at Wattle Street, Wentworth Park Road, Darling Street and Bridge Road to manage and assist motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.  Light rail replacement buses will use main streets as much as possible. However, some replacement buses may need to use local streets to access light rail stops.

Trees  Transdev Sydney has a responsibility to trim any trees in the rail corridor that may pose a threat to rail or electrical infrastructure, or obstruct access or sighting distances.

Light rail replacement buses  Buses will replace light rail services between Central and Dulwich Hill from 11.30pm Friday to 5.50am Monday:  Friday 25 August to Monday 28 August  Friday 1 September to Monday 4 September. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation and patience during these essential works.
