Report to the Community JIMMIE JOHNSON FOUNDATION REPORT TO THE COMMUNITY Volume 2 The Jimmie Johnson Foundation is dedicated to assisting children, families and communities in need. We are humbled and amazed by what we have been able to accomplish through the Jimmie Johnson Foundation. The foundation’s success is a direct result of the support from our family, friends, fans and corporate partners. We can’t thank you enough for everything you have done! From a state-of-the-art bowling center to four Habitat for Humanity homes to education grants nationwide, we are very proud of the impact we have been able to make in the lives of children and families. We are thrilled to share that we have contributed more than $3 million to various organizations to date. Thank you for partnering with the Jimmie Johnson Foundation. Together, we are building a better future. Sincerely, Jimmie Johnson Chandra Johnson 1 In 2009, the Jimmie Johnson Foundation partnered with Lowe’s to create the Jimmie Johnson Foundation/Lowe’s Toolbox for Education Champions Grant program. In its inaugural year, the Jimmie Johnson Foundation distributed more than $922,000 to K-12 educational programs in Jimmie and Chandra’s hometowns in California and Oklahoma and where they currently live in North Carolina. The foundation is committed to providing educators and parents with the tools necessary to enable children to succeed. Through the Jimmie Johnson Foundation/Lowe’s Champions Grant process, schools apply for grants to build new projects, enhance existing programs or create new ones. We are honored to be able to help meet the growing needs of today’s public schools. Champions Grants Have Funded: 5 Technology Upgrades 3 Outdoor Learning Environments 3 Science Labs “On behalf of Muskogee Public Schools and the entire Muskogee 2 Health and Wellness Programs community, thank you for your generous grants to our teachers. 2 Playgrounds Your incredible kindness will have a profound effect on our schools. Chandra and Jimmie and the foundation team worked alongside the San Diego Habitat for Humanity staff through the duration of the project, including land selection, permitting, design, construction, and a block party celebration when the homes were complete. Each home is approximately 1,280 square feet with three bedrooms and 1¾ baths. Several Jimmie Johnson Foundation partners came on board to assist with the construction process. Lowe’s contributed building materials and volunteers, Iron Horse Grading provided the grading work for the site, Samsung generously donated the washers, dryers and dishwashers for each house, and the employees of Jimmie Johnson Kearny Mesa Chevrolet volunteered on the site, to name a few. A special thank you to all of the in-kind partners and volunteers who made the dream of homeownership a reality for the families on Foundation Lane. 3 One of the highlights for Jimmie is granting wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions. He has the opportunity to grant several wishes at the racetrack each year through the Make-A-Wish Foundation ®. In addition, Chandra The Jimmie Johnson Foundation supports the Hendrick and Jimmie have served on the Make-A-Wish ® Marrow Program’s Annual Learn Live Hope golf tournament National Advisory Council since 2005. and Racing to Save Lives half marathon 5k and 1k races. The bowling center allows these special kids to experience the childhood joy of bowling their first strike in the comfort of a medically safe environment. 5 The foundation launched the Helmet of Hope program in 2008 to give fans and media members across the country the opportunity to nominate their charity of choice to be featured on Jimmie’s race helmet. Jimmie wears the Helmet of Hope for the fall race at Auto Club Speedway in California. Components of the program have included grants as well as a commemorative T-shirt. To top it off, Jimmie has won the race each time he has worn the Helmet of Hope. Past Helmet of Hope Charities I just want to say how thankful and “ blessed I am for your generosity and support. The selection of the National Multiple Sclerosis Zepp Children’s Foundation to your Society Mid-Atlantic Helmet of Hope Initiative is a great Chapter honor and I am overwhelmed with gratitude and incredibly humbled by this opportunity. Thank you for this great acknowledgement. My heart is truly full! Sally Zepp, Zepp Children’s Foundation ” ® 6 In 2008, Jimmie joined an all-star team of celebrities and athletes as part of the Samsung Hope for Children program. Fellow participants include Dan Marino, Boomer Esiason and Matthew McConaughey. Each year, the foundation partners with Samsung and Lowe’s in a campaign to help children live, learn and thrive. KYLE BUSCH The New Green Machine HUNTERSVILLE, North Carolina (Feb. 26, 2020) – When Kyle Busch takes to the track at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California this weekend, Interstate Batteries will debut a sharp new “green machine’ paint scheme as the founding sponsor of Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) starts its 29th season riding along with one of the top teams in NASCAR. While there are many paint schemes created throughout the years, rarely does a driver and the chairman of a sponsor’s company collaborate on a scheme, and even more rare is a 34-year-old collaborating with someone from the Greatest Generation. However, that is exactly what happened with the new Interstate Batteries scheme debuting this weekend in the NASCAR Cup Series Auto Club 400.. Starting late last season, Interstate Batteries chairman Norm Miller teamed up with Busch on the new design. The end result is a powerful new green scheme that Busch will run this weekend in Southern California and during the remaining Interstate-sponsored races in 2020. Busch, driver of the No. 18 Interstate Batteries Toyota for JGR, would like nothing more than to repeat his Auto Club 400 victory from last March, which happened to be his 200th career victory in NASCAR’s top three series and 54th in the Cup Series. He’s since lifted those totals to 209 overall and 57 in the Cup Series. Meanwhile, the first two races of 2020 have not gone to plan for the 2019 Cup Series champion. An engine issue in the season-opening Daytona 500 and handling issues last weekend at his hometown Las Vegas Motor Speedway have been the culprits.

Capps, NAPA start celebration for 50 years of Funny Cars with win at Winternationals, start Mello Yello season on Fox Last Sunday was Valentine’s Day but the season-opening NHRA Circle K Winternationals in Pomona, Calif., didn’t show much love to Don Schumacher Racing. That is, unless you are Ron Capps and the NAPA AUTO PARTS team led by crew chief Rahn Tobler and assistant Eric Lane who opened the 2016 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season by winning the Funny Car title to begin a special year that commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Funny Car. Their 2016 Dodge Charger R/T was the only one of seven DSR entries to advance past the second round of Mello Yello eliminations and they went all the way. Capps and the NAPA team were dominant all weekend during the first of 24 national events with seven of their eight runs in the 3- second range including all four in qualifying that helped the team earn the No. 2 spot. “I have the best team in the business, and they gave me a great racecar,” he said. “All four runs in the 3s in qualifying, I don’t think anyone else did that. I knew we had a good racecar. Tobler and I have grown so much together. It’s like a marriage. He really keeps me in line on race day. We had a heckuva day.” And it was a banner weekend for NAPA Racing.
