Instruction to Bidders 1. General Before submitting the tender it is presumed that the tenderer has understood the exact requirement of the Purchaser and visited hydrological observation sites on rivers run by Central Water Commission to understand the facilities and accessibility. In case of any discrepancy or ambiguity observed by the tenderer in the scope of work and the desired deliverable functionality from the work, it is mandatory to raise the clarification in writing by the tenderer and in turn get that clarified from the purchaser in writing before and during the pre-bid meeting. Tenderer is free to ask any clarification in the Pre-bid meeting to be held on 15/02/2021 at 14:00 Hrs. at the above mentioned venue. In case of no such clarification required by the tenderer, it will be construed that all the requirements of the purchaser are understood by the tenderer. No communications will be entertained in this regard at any stage after the opening of Tenders. The general instructions are as given below:- (i) No tenderer will be allowed to amend or withdraw any terms & conditions/parts or whole /quoted prices of its tender under any circumstances after the deadline for submission of the tender. (ii) The Purchaser has the right to accept or reject any or all the tenders, or cancel the tendering process at any stage, either in part or full, without assigning any reason. (iii) Canvassing, soliciting, fraud practices, suppression of facts, stating wrong facts and fraudulent practice by the tenderer may lead to rejection of the tender at any stage of the work and may lead to blacklisting for all future CWC works/purchases. (iv) The tenderers are expected to understand the forms, terms, specifications and other details mentioned in the tender document. (v) Each tenderer is entitled to submit only one online bid. The tender document is non- transferable. (vi) At any time prior to the deadline for submission of tenders, the Purchaser, for any reason, whether at its own initiative may modify the scope of work or any condition of the tendering documents by amendments and same will be communicated. (vii) The tenderers must quote the rates keeping in mind all the terms and conditions mentioned in this document. (viii) The valid means of communications for this tender shall be in writing, through e-mail and fax followed by confirmation by post.

Archaeological Survey of India, Archaeological Museum, Vaishali, 844 128, Bihar, India (Email: [email protected]) Received: 01 July 2016; Accepted: 08 August 2016; Revised: 30 August 2016 Heritage: Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies in Archaeology 4 (2016): 607-610 Abstract: Village Ghosrawan is known for its Buddhist vestiges of Pala period. It is only 13 km away from Nalanda, which was a great centre of learning and art activities in early medieval period. Pala School of art flourished in the Bihar and Bengal from 8th to 13th centuries A.D. and it is exemplified by their fine sculptures, noted for their sensuous grace and dignity and few of them may be considered as rare art specimens of India. Carving of deities on both sides of stone slab termed as bifacial images. Bifacial images are extremely rare in Pala art. Only a few images of Surya- Narayana reported from Bihar under this category. In these sculptures Surya is depicted on one side and Visnu on reverse side. The image under discussion from Ghosrawan is unique for its kind. In the sculpture Uma-Mahesvara carved on one side and Visnu carved on reverse side, shows the synthesis of Siva and Visnu. It may consider second variety of syncretic image after Surya- Naryana in bifacial sculptures category. Thus recently noticed image from Ghosrawan not only rare of its kind but also throw the light on the development of syncretism, tolerance among the various sects of Hinduism and religious history of Nalanda region.

    DISTRICT PROFILE NALANDA INTRODUCTION Nalanda district is a part of the Patna division Nalanda is famous all over the world for the ancient International Monastic University established in 5th century BC, which taught Vedas, Logic, Grammar, Medicine, Meta-Physics, Prose Composition and Rhetoric Nalanda district is popularly known as Biharsharif. The rivers Phalgu, and Mohane flows through the district of Nalanda. Agriculture is the main source of occupation Tourism plays an important role in the economy of Nalanda. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND The ancient university town of Bihar, goes back to the days of Buddha and Mahavira in the Sixth Century B.C. The town was home to Nalanda Mahavihara, a monastic university of international repute Both Buddha and Mahavira often stayed at Nalanda during the rainy season. Buddhist scriptures reveal that they once stayed at Nalanda at the same time, but there is no record of them meeting one another. It was a flourishing hub where the philosopher and alchemist, Nagarjuna, studied and taught in the Second Century A.D. However, excavations have not revealed anything to suggest that the site was occupied before the Gupta period (Fifth Century A.D.), the earliest finds being a copper plate of Samudragupta and a coin of Kumaragupta (414-455 A.D.). Fa-Hien who visited in the Fifth Century A.D. makes no mention of the massive monastic establishments at Nalanda. But Hiuen Tsang who came in A.D 637 during Harsha's reign (606-647 A.D.) refers to the great monastery that Harsha endowed with liberal grants.     Giriyaka Hilltop Buddhist Monastic Complex (Rajgir): Understanding Antiquarian Remains and Physical Spaces RESEARCH PAPER ANAND SINGH ABSTRACT CORRESPONDING AUTHOR: Anand Singh The paper deals with the study of the hilltop Buddhist complex known as Giriyaka at Nalanda University, IN Rājgir, Nālandā district of Bihar, India. This site was first noticed by the archaeologists anandsinghbuddha@gmail. of the colonial period. A M Broadley, Francis Buchanan, Malcom Kittoe, Alexander com Cunningham, etc., surveyed and explored the site to identify Buddhist monastic artefacts and remains. The archaeological landscape of Giriyaka offers multi phases linear development of Buddhism since the NBPW period. Cunningham articulates TO CITE THIS ARTICLE: it as Indasāla-guhā where the Buddha preached the Sakkapaňňa Sutta but it was Singh, A. 2021. Giriyaka Hilltop vehemently opposed by Broadley and others. This annual publication reviews the activities conducted in various fields of the archaeology in the country every year. But this first issue of the 21st century is also an occasion to review the Indian Archaeology in the last century and to plan for the first century. When I look back, I can see some of the events that shaped Indian Archaeology in the last century. The first half of the century is rightly termed as the era of Marshall and Wheeler. Joining of Sir John Marshall as the Director General in the Survey, in 1902, was the beginning of a new era in the Indian Archaeology. His principles on archaeological conservation guided all of us in the Survey throughout the century, and are still relevant. The first decade also witnessed many other important events like publication of Annual Reports of the Director General, which presented the works and research activities carried out by the Survey, creation of a separate branch for epigraphical research and enactment of Ancient Monuments Preservation Act in 1904 which provided legislative powers for the protection of monuments and archaeological sites and remains.
