She is currently at the “Dolfinarium Harderwijk”, in the Netherlands. Now, four months past her rescue, concerns are arising about Morgan‟s extended confinement in a small concrete tank and the impact this could have on her ability to return to the wild. The suggestions in this proposal are intended to assist Dutch authorities and the Dolfinarium Harderwijk in providing an opportunity for Morgan to return to the ocean and her community and in doing so contribute to orca conservation and scientific knowledge. The development of this rehabilitation and relocation proposal has been a cooperative project by a number of regional and international partners; including researchers, conservation groups, and animal welfare advocates, who all share the goal of returning Morgan to a free life in the ocean, preferably where her extended family may reunite with her.

Noëlle Aarts Datum: Juni 2013 Voorwoord In mijn zoektocht naar een onderwerp voor mijn Master scriptie voor de opleiding International Development Studies in de zomer van 2011 stuitte ik op het onderwerp ‘communicatie strategie van dierentuinen’ op de website van de leerstoelgroep communicatiewetenschappen. Doordat ik zelf een zekere ambiguïteit ervaar als het gaat om dierentuinen was ik zeer geïnteresseerd en gemotiveerd dit onderwerp verder te onderzoeken. Ik ben gek op dieren en dierentuinen maken het mogelijk dieren te ontmoeten die ik normaliter niet snel zal tegenkomen, omdat deze dieren van oorsprong in het wild voorkomen. De ambiguïteit ervaar ik rond het feit dat in de dierentuin wilde dieren leven in gevangenschap en dus niet in hun natuurlijke leefgebied. Dit roept vragen bij mij op als hoe beïnvloeden de leefomstandigheden in de dierentuin gedrag, gezondheid en welzijn van wilde dieren? Aan de ene kant vind ik het leuk dierentuinen te bezoeken omdat zij wilde dieren meer toegankelijk maken, maar aan de andere kant maak ik mij zorgen om hun welzijn. Dit onderzoek heeft een deel van mijn ervaren ambiguïteit weggenomen doordat het me een beter inzicht in dierentuinen heeft gegeven en hun communicatie over het houden van wilde dieren in de dierentuin.

The NIPR is organizing this annual symposium to present and promote a wide variety of polar scientific research and interdisciplinary studies. The symposium includes a special session, the theme of which is “Future plan of Antarctic research: Towards phase X of the Japanese Antarctic Research Project (2022-2028) and beyond”. Accompanying this special session will be parallel sessions, which will include ordinary sessions and an interdisciplinary session. We look forward to your active participation. The list is the result of regular queries in numerous journals, books and online publications. It provides a complete list of publication citations as well as a database report containing rearranged subsets of the list sorted by the keyword statistics, extant and extinct genera and species descriptions from the years 2000 to 2017, list of descriptions of extinct and extant species from 2017, parasitology, reproduction, distribution, diet, conservation, and taxonomy. The paper is intended to be consulted for information. In addition, we provide data information on the geographic and depth distribution of newly described species, i.e. the type specimens from the years 1990 to 2017 in a hot spot analysis. New in this year's POTY is the subheader "biodiversity" comprising a complete list of all valid chimaeriform, selachian and batoid species, as well as a list of the top 20 most researched chondrichthyan species.
