he Indian Naval Academy (INA) Twon the prestigious annual Inter Services Officers Training Academies sports meet, the Bakshi Cup 2017, held at the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakvasla from March 23-26, 2017. This is the first time INA has won the Bakshi Cup since its inception. Bakshi Cup is an annual Inter Services sports meet for trainees of six premier Officers' Training Academies, viz., National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakvasla, the (IMA), The Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor, Rear Admiral MD Suresh, NM addressed Dehradun, Indian Naval Academy the cadets, highlighting the importance of this maiden win towards bringing INA - (INA), Ezhimala, Air Force Academy a relatively new academy an institution -at par with the older and more well known (AFA), Dundigul, Officers' Training academies like NDA and IMA. The INA was included as the third participant in 2013, followed by AFA, OTA Chennai and OTA Gaya. 57 Cadets of INA participated in six sporting events viz. Basketball, Football, Volleyball, Tennis, Squash and Cross Country. The cadets of INA won both Cross Country and Basketball and were the runners up in Football and Volley Ball. In a clean sweep, INA cadets won the gold, silver and bronze medals in Cross country. A celebratory mood prevailed at the Chola stadium, where an enthusiastic crowd-mostly trainee cadets, officers and sailors of INA and their families- gathered, amidst the music of the Naval band and recounting of experiences by the mentor officers of each team, making the event a memorable one. 50% Fee Concession For IGNOU Courses through IAEP

DTE GEN of Military Training is giving 50% fee concession to Army Veterans, Veer Naris, War Widows and Women dependents enrolling in IGNOU courses under the IGNOU Army Education Project (IAEP). A notification for the same was issued during IGNOU- IAEP Regional Directors meet. The scheme is effective from January 2017 session for all IGNOU courses under IAEP.

Mr Dharam Pal Goswami, Business Manager superannuated from Sainik Samachar, under the Directorate of Public Relations, Ministry of Defence after a glorious service of more than thirty – nine years on March 31, 2017. He has had a long and distinguished career during which he served in different offices of AFHQ where he held important positions. Mr Goswami joined Sainik Samachar in 2011 and was the Business Manager of the Magazine till his retirement. Very efficient, hardworking he was always more of a friend, less of a colleague.
