Deliverable 5.4: SECOND ADVISORY REPORT OF THE IAC Project no. 316165 Project acronym: CCQCN Project full title: Crete Center for Quantum Complexity and Nanotechnology REGPOT-2012-2013-1 SEVENTH FRAMEWORK PROGRAMME Deliverable 5.4 Second Advisory Report of the IAC Due date of deliverable: M30 Dissemination level: PU Second Advisory Report of the IAC Crete Center for Quantum Complexity and Nanotechnology Executive Summary Deliverable 5.4 comprises the Second Advisory Report of the International Advisory Committee (IAC) of the Crete Center for Quantum Complexity and Nanotechnology (CCQCN), an EC-supported FP7-REGPOT-2012-2013-1 project (project number: 316165), which is located at the Physics Department of the University of Crete and started its operation on September 1, 2013. The International Advisory Committee comprises three senior scientists (namely, Professors Zaanen, Buchner, and Saxena) and is a complementary body that assists the Management Committee of CCQCN in the research directions, hirings, twinning and workshops. More precisely, the scope of the IAC is to monitor the progress made during the implementation of the CCQCN project, and advice toward the most beneficial implementation of the project and on all aspects of the Center activities. The IAC assesses the evolution, achievements, success and/or possible problems of the project. The 2nd Advisory Report of the IAC takes into account the evolution, achievements, success and/or possible problems of CCQCN as revealed in the M13-M30 (M30=February 2016) period of the lifetime of the project. Acoustic metamaterial, which can prohibit effectively the elastic wave propagation in the bandgap frequency range, has broad application prospects in the vibration and noise reduction areas. .e Lindstedt–Poincar´emethod was utilized to analyze the dispersion curves of nonlinear metamaterial with a pure Duffing oscillator. .e first-order perturbation solutions of acoustic and optical branches were obtained. Both the starting and cutoff frequencies of the bandgap are determined consequently. It was found that the soft/hard characteristics of pure Duffing oscillators could lead to the lower/upper movement of the starting and cutoff frequencies of the bandgap. By further researching the degraded linear system, the conclusion that actual nonlinear metamaterial bandgap region is wider than effective negative mass region is drawn and that both mass and stiffness ratio effect on the starting frequency is obtained. -

2011 4th edition of the International Summer School 4th gathering of the International Roman Pottery in the Mediterranean: Summer School, 2011 production, typology and distribution Admission The International Summer School on Roman Pottery in the Mediterranean gives priority to Master’s and PhD students; undergraduate students will be admitted only if places are available. A total of 40 students will be admitted to the Summer School, including 10 students of the University of Provence. The selection will be made on the basis of the academic degrees and curriculum Roman studiorum of the students. The deadline for the submission of the application form is fixed at the 15th September 2011. Application fee (150 €) The application fee give free access to the teaching sessions and practical workshops held at the MMSH of Aix-en-Provence, to the coffee breaks, the lunches at the MMSH cafeteria, to both the Pottery in the excursions by bus to Marseille and Arles, and to the lunches at those excursions. Each participant will receive a course pack including illustrated plates and bibliography about the sessions and practical workshops of the Summer School. Students of the University of Provence are exempt from the application fee. Haberman 8 ✉ Abstract | The law of reciprocity in acoustics and elastodynamics codifies a relation of symmetry between action and reaction in fluids and solids. In its simplest form, it states that the frequency- response functions between any two material points remain the same after swapping source and receiver, regardless of the presence of inhomogeneities and losses. As such, reciprocity has enabled numerous applications that make use of acoustic and elastic wave propagation. A recent change in paradigm has prompted us to see reciprocity under a new light: as an obstruction to the realization of wave-bearing media in which the source and receiver are not interchangeable. Such materials may enable the creation of devices such as acoustic one- way mirrors, isolators and topological insulators. Here, we review how reciprocity breaks down in materials with momentum bias, structured space- dependent and time- dependent constitutive properties, and constitutive nonlinearity, and report on recent advances in the modelling and fabrication of these materials, as well as on experiments demonstrating nonreciprocal acoustic and elastic wave propagation therein. The success of these efforts holds promise to enable robust, unidirectional acoustic and elastic wave- steering capabilities that exceed what is currently possible in conventional materials, metamaterials or phononic crystals. Looking at the rippled surface of a pond, we hardly heterogeneities and boundaries. Accordingly, they have expect water rings to shrink and converge to their centre. -

Since 1945 its development has become evident throughout the southern territory, stimulated by the existence of sources in Hebrew (from within the communities) and Latin (from outside). In those privileged places where a true profane and philosophical basis of Jewish science developed, the rich documentation has permitted the growth of basic works founded on the study of notary sources (R. W. Emery); but also the Occitan-Catalan Hebrew sources have conserved a rich documentation (Ch. Touati, Y. T. Assis, etc.). Emphasis has been placed on the “Aix School” of G. Duby, productive in the 1970s, when J. Shatzmiller started his initial research. The former County of Provence, where Jewish minorities were tolerated until 1501, lends itself commendably to the study of Jewish daily life through the examination of notary books. The county of Venaissin has its share in this historiographical panorama, as the various works on Gersonides have demonstrated.
