Our wrestlers were the first Russian athletes who told the world about their achievements in the "Hall of Fame." It was opened a year ago in the Swiss castle of Korsier-sur-Vevey, in FILA headquarters. They also created the first fundamental development program, planned until 2020; the implementation of this program has al- ready begun. But the main achievement is that the wrestlers have won 89 gold medals in the Olympics, remaining undefeated for many decades. No matter how hard the Games were going, wrestlers always lent their shoulder to the team. Russian masters of Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling styles won six gold medals at the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008 and have main- tained a leading position in the current Olympic cycle. All of Russia will be watching the Olympic broadcast from London, rooting for you and waiting for your victories. We believe in you and wish you success! There are new and potent projects ahead. The construction of the International Wrestling Academy in Moscow will be the main focus, but now all eyes are on the Olympic Games in Lon- don. The Russian team came to the Olympic Games as the world leader. Car- rying on the status and great traditions is a big responsibility our team has to themselves, to their fans and to our country. Russian wrestlers won six gold medals in Beijing 2008, and we expect no less of our team in London.     Last updated on 18 August 2017 IOC reanalysis programme Beijing 2008 and London 2012 The protection of clean athletes and the fight against doping are top priorities for the International Olympic Committee (IOC), as outlined in Olympic Agenda 2020, the IOC’s strategic roadmap for the future of the Olympic Movement. Programme initiated prior the Olympic Games Rio 2016 To provide a level playing field for all clean athletes at the Olympic Games Rio 2016, the IOC put special measures in place, including targeted pre-tests and the reanalysis of stored samples from the Olympic Games Beijing 2008 and London 2012, following an intelligence-gathering process that started in August 2015 – in consultation with WADA and International Federations (IFs). The additional analyses on samples collected during the Olympic Games Beijing 2008 and London 2012 were performed with improved analytical methods, in order to possibly detect prohibited substances that could not be identified by the analysis performed at the time of these editions of the Olympic Games. For reference, some reanalysis of the stored samples of Beijing 2008 and London 2012 was already conducted in 2009 and 2015 respectively, leading to the sanctioning of six athletes. The programme for Beijing samples has concluded due to the statute of limitations. The total number of confirmed Adverse Analytical Findings (AAFs) by reanalysis in 2016 was announced as 101. Targeted re-analysis programme In order to support the investigations of Prof. McLaren and his team, the IOC ordered a number of targeted re-analyses of Russian athletes’ samples during the course of 2016. In December 2016, the IOC also extended the mandate of the Oswald Commission to examine all samples collected from Russian athletes during the Olympic Games London 2012, following the findings of the completed Independent Person Report.

    Snips and Snipes 8 February 2018 The threat that the IOC may drop boxing from the 2020 Olympic Games should come as no surprise. For a few years now the AIBA which has responsibility for administrating International “amateur” boxing-but let’s not kid ourselves the Olympics Games are no longer for amateurs-have too long been focusing on making money rather than developing the sport. For a few years they have through the WSB and other initiatives helped make the transition from AIBA to professional boxing easier for elite boxers. However they have failed to tackle the quality of judging and refereeing and have failed to put in place and to police internal controls leaving themselves open to allegations of mismanagement and profligacy taking the organisation to the edge of bankruptcy. The criticism over their handling of boxing at the Rio Olympics had already put them under the IOC spotlight and then they went and shot themselves in the foot over the appointment of an interim President . They selected a man who has been sanctioned by the United States Treasury Department for alleged links to a major “transnational criminal organisation”. I can almost imagine the conversation “We need an interim President let’s appoint Gafur Rakhimov” with one voice saying “ isn’t he sanctioned by the United States Treasury Department for alleged link to a major “transnational criminal organisation”. “Yes sounds just the man for the job”! A ban from the Olympics would be a huge blow for boxing’s prestige but it is more difficult to decide whether it would have any repercussions for professional boxing.

Thirty weight categories in three styles will be contested over seven days of competition. The Individual World Cup is serving as a substitute event for the 2020 World Championships. The event was canceled after not fulfilling the criteria set forth by the UWW Bureau. The criteria included having at least 8 of 10 of the top nations from the 2019 World Championships and 70% of total athletes participate in 2020. The Individual World Cup represents international wrestling's return to competition and will lay the groundwork for safety protocols and countermeasures around all competitions.
