This is where I made my debut in the Street Fighter world with my appearance as not only a hidden secret challenger but also as a character people could control as well. Game Rating: Street Fighter Alpha 2 After my appearance in the first game Capcom were harassing my agent constantly to get me to make another appearance. I said yes as long as I get paid 1p more than your paying Ryu. Needless to say the deal was done and my legend continued although Ryu decided to cry unless he was made the cover star again. Game Rating: NINE The 100% Official Dan Hibiki Magazine Street Fighter Alpha 3 This game was fantastic to be a part of, it added more fighters into the mix. I was asked to be on the front but passed on the idea and said why not put some of the other fighters on the front instead and give them a chance to be noticed. They did include my mate Blanka on the front though which was a bit of a mistake as we had about 50,000 written complaints that his face was scaring the young un's. Game Rating: Super gem Fighter Capcom had the idea of trying to make a game that would appeal to the kiddie's parent's who thought the other Street Fighter games were a bit to violent. So super Gem Fighter was born. We did motion cap for all our moves as per normal, then they got some artist to manipulate the film and shrink us down. I have to say I am quite proud of how I look in the game but Ken was complaining that the game makes him look fat. He didn't like it when I corrected him and said "don't you mean fatter?". Game Rating: ⼋ The 100% Official Dan Hibiki Magazine Super Puzzle Fighter 2 This was a strange game, they just used some of my old footage I had shot for Super Gem Fighter. At the time I had a contract dispute going on with Capcom after I found out that Ken was on 1p more per game than me. Since I refused to take part and shoot new footage Capcom made my character week and even had a stunt double lay on Game Rating: the floor and pretend to be me knocked out on the cover. :( Needless to say I sued them and won. Street Fighter X Tekken This was one of the big ideas from both Capcom and Namco. They wanted to pit the most popular fighters against each other. Since I had already faced and defeated most of these Tekken guys in the past I had no desire to take part. I did make a brief cameo appearance though just to keep you fans happy. Game Rating: 1/2 The 100% Official Dan Hibiki Magazine Marvel Vs Series Some of the guys worked with Marvel's X- Men on a collaboration. I heard rumours that some of the guys were just dicks (like Ryu but worse) thinking that they were better than us non-mutants. The money was pretty good though so I figured why not and joined the roster for Marvel vs Street Fighter. I have to say some of the Marvel guys were pretty cool like The Hulk and Wolvie, but the rest were dicks. Especially the google guy. I followed my appearance up in MVS and took part in the Marvel vs. Capcom 2nd and 3rd games. Although an injury saw me take a back seat in the 3rd game instead of the starring role that was originally planned out for me by Capcom. Game Ratings: Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Marvel vs. Capcom 3 GAMMA The 100% Official Dan Hibiki Magazine Capcom vs SNK Series This game series was a blast to work on. Those guys over at SNK are loads of fun and have a great sense of humour. Terry, Joe and a few others have a running joke and keep saying to me that Ryo, Garcia and myself all look like similar to each other for some reason. I don't see it myself but they seem to get a kick out of it so I just play along. It's always fun when we all get together, I have to say though they are all obsessed with fighting in team battles for some reason. It does make a change but every now and then I get stuck with Ryu and Ken. I'm not sure why this keeps happening. I really wish those two would leave the Street Fighter series and then we can get Ryo to make the jump over, to be honest I don't even think the gamers would really notice the difference.

STREET FIGHTER by Luis Filipe Based on Capcom's videogame "Street Fighter II" Copyright © 2019 This is a fan script [email protected] OVER BLACK. All we hear is the excited CHEER of a crowd. Hundreds of voices roaring in unison, teasing something to come. Under those voices, there is also the rhythmic sound of TRAMPLES on the floor that sound like drums. CUT TO: INT. CORRIDOR - NIGHT A dirty, dimly lit corridor. A few meters ahead, a beam of light leaks through a door that gives access to another scenario. Standing in the corridor hidden in total shadow, a barefoot MAN attired in a white karate gi uniform tightens a black martial arts BELT. We do not see his face. The cheer continues, seeming to be coming from beyond that door in the hallway. After putting on the belt, the man takes a pair of RED GLOVES from his duffel bag, which is on a bench beside him. He wears them calmly. Finally, he also grabs a RED HEADBAND from the bag and ties it around his head. All this is almost ritualistic for him. When completed, the mysterious man walks toward the corridor door where comes the intense light. INT. STREET FIGHTER ARENA - NIGHT A large warehouse-like room. Wooden boxes surround the boundaries of the fighting area. And behind these boxes are the spectators, some sit in stands and others stand on feet. Our mysterious man comes in, revealing his face for the first time: RYU. A Japanese experienced martial artist. The audience goes wild to see him there.

Yoko Shimomura, the female composer who produced the iconic soundtrack for the 1991 arcade game, Street Fighter II (Capcom 1991), seems to have been invisible to game developers and music producers, which is partly due to the way in which the game is credited as a team effort. Regardless of their personal gender identity, game composers respond to themed briefs by 107 108 The Street Fighter Lady drawing on transnational musical ideas and gendered stereotypes that resonate with the Global Popular. Game music, as imagined as suitable for hyper-masculine game arcades, seems to draw on a masculinist aesthetic developed in Hollywood compositions. In turn, Street Fighter II’s music and the competitive game culture of arcade fighting games has been interwoven with masculinist music scenes of hip-hop and grime. The discussion of the music of Street Fighter II and the musical versions it inspired, nevertheless highlights that although seemingly simplified gendered stereotypes are reproduced within the game, gender identification itself can be complex within the context of game music composition.
