2 Chicago International Film Festival

The Chicago International Film Festival is a year-round 501(c)3 non-profit arts and education organization dedicated to fostering better communication between people of diverse cultures through the art of the moving image.

As the longest running competitive film festival in North America, the Festival is a of cinema that includes film premieres, tributes to and directors, and signature red carpet events. Internationally renowned for its excellence in programming, showcasing the best in U.S. and world cinema, the Festival offers attendees opportunities to experience innovative works by first-time filmmakers alongside by celebrated masters and also preview the season’s top award contenders.

In addition to the annual film festival, the Festival produces several film events throughout the year including the free Summer Screenings Program (May-September), CineYouth Festival (May), Education Screenings, and Special Event and Gala Screenings.

In 2020, the 56th Chicago International Film Festival was re-imagined to present the first ever hybrid edition. The Festival presented 114 films from five continents and 43 countries on the Festival’s new Virtual Cinema platform and at the drive-in over 12 days. With online screenings, tributes, conversations, and the drive-in theater, the Festival reached an audience totaling approximately 40,000 watching, tuning in, and participating from across the United States, including 47 states as well as Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico.
