  • GM/COO Candidate Search Profile
General Manager Profile: North Shore Country Club General Manager Profile: North Shore Country Club Glenview, Illinois About North Shore Country Club The popularity of established clubs like Onwentsia, Glenview and Oulimette encouraged men of means to search well- placed pastures with a potential for golf course design. Several of Oulimette's more ardent devotees did just that when they decided to form a club of their own along the shores of Lake Michigan in 1900. For a surprisingly low rental fee, they leased a large tract of land capable of accommodating their five-hole layout. Only one road ran through their new golf course and it was of small consequence. Little did they know Chicago was a burgeoning city and the lakefront was equally prodigious in its growth. Sheridan Road became one of the more popular shoreline thoroughfares and the side streets that sprung from its trunk soon threatened the tranquility of the members' play. Fortunately, Edgewater Golf Club, one of the oldest clubs in Chicago, held an option on a 170-acre piece of farmland held in the northern suburb of Glenview, which was useless for growing corn but ideally suited for a golf course. Having made this significant step to purchase the land for the future, the design of the new course and clubhouse could be entrusted to no one but the best. The prestigious British firm of Colt, MacKenzie and Allison was commissioned to do the work, and they turned out a product that has undergone relatively minor changes since opening. The golf course and clubhouse were officially opened on Decoration Day of 1924, and by the end of that first year North Shore's new home was host to some 300 members.

The Western Amateur Championship Records & Statistics Guide 1899-2017 for te 116t Westrn Amatur, July 30-Aug. 4, 2018 Sunset Ridge County Club, Nortfield, Il. 15t editon compiled by Tim Cronin A Guide to The Guide –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Welcome to the 116th Western Amateur Championship, and the 15th edition of The Western Amateur Records & Statistics Guide, as the championship comes to Sunset Ridge Country Club for the first time. For well over a century, the Western Amateur has provided some of the best competition in golf, amateur or professional. This record book allows reporters covering the Western Am the ability to easily compare current achievements to those of the past. It draws on research conducted by delving into old newspaper files, and by going through the Western Golf Association’s own Western Amateur files, which date to 1949. Last year, a major expansion of the Guide presented complete year-by-year records and a player register for 1899 through 1955, the pre-Sweet Sixteen era, for the first time. Details on some courses and field sizes from various years remain to be found, but no other amateur championship has such an in-depth resource. Remaining holes in the listings will continue to be filled in for future editions. The section on records has been revised, and begins on page 8. This includes overall records, including a summary on how the medalist fared, and more records covering the Sweet Sixteen years. The Guide is in two sections covering 203 pages. Part 1, which is 76 pages, includes a year-by-year summary chart, records, a special chart detailing the 34 players who have played in the Sweet Sixteen in the 62 years since its adoption in 1956 and have won a professional major championship, and a comprehensive report the Sweet Sixteen era through both year-by-year results and a player register.

  • Exmoor Country Club Reciprocal Clubs During Greens Project
Exmoor Country Club Reciprocal Clubs During Greens Project August 5th, 2014 – May 2015 Exmoor Country Club has been very fortunate to receive support from many of our local Clubs extending golfing privileges to our members and guests during our project. The following booklet details the available golfing opportunities during the greens resurfacing project that will commence on August 5th, 2014. Our current target to reopen the course with putting greens is by Memorial Day weekend 2015. Key Guidelines to Reciprocity: The following guidelines have been implemented in order to allow Exmoor Country Club members a fair opportunity to play golf while the greens resurfacing project is ongoing. Members playing golf under this reciprocal arrangement must adhere to all rules in force at the host club. All members must take a cart or caddie and pay the appropriate greens fee (if any) to the host club. The number of reciprocal rounds available is limited, especially on weekends and holidays. All requests must be made through your Golf Professional Staff at Exmoor Country Club. No tee times will be accepted when a member of Exmoor Country Club calls the respective club. Each reciprocal club requests that there must be an Exmoor member in each group. All available times will be based on respective club’s golf calendar and availability. All participating clubs will allow an Exmoor member to charge back fees and services to Exmoor. Guest Policies: Exmoor Country Club members hosting a guest will be charged the prevailing guest fee by the host club. The reciprocal arrangement may not apply to Exmoor members invited to play as a guest at one of the reciprocating clubs.
