Protected by international convention, they are part of a group of more than 800 treasures that include the Great Barrier Reef, Mount Everest, the pyramids of Egypt and the Great Wall of China. There are five World Heritage sites in New South Wales, four of which include parks and reserves managed by the NPWS: Gondwana Rainforests of Australia (previously the Central Eastern Rainforest Reserves of Australia) which includes the major rainforest parks and reserves of north-east NSW and south-east Queensland Greater Blue Mountains Lord Howe Island Group Willandra Lakes Region (previously the Central Eastern Rainforest Reserves of Australia) which includes the major rainforest parks and reserves of north-east NSW and south-east Queensland The fifth World Heritage site in NSW is the Sydney Opera House, which is managed by the Sydney Opera House Trust.
