The Squirrel Bait and Rodan genealogies continued to dominate Kentucky's and Chicago's post-rock scene during the 1990s. Half of Rodan, i.e. Tara Jane O'Neil (now on vocals and guitar) and Kevin Coultas, formed Sonora Pine with keyboardist and guitarist Sean Meadows, violinist Samara Lubelski and pianist Rachel Grimes. Their debut album, Sonora Pine (1996), basically applied Rodan's aesthetics to the format of the folk lullaby. Another member of Rodan, guitarist Jeff Mueller, formed June Of 44 (11), a sort of supergroup comprising Sonora Pine's guitarist Sean Meadows, Codeine's drummer and keyboardist Doug Scharin, and bassist and trumpet player Fred Erskine. Engine Takes To The Water (1995) signaled the evolution of "slo-core" towards a coldly neurotic form, which achieved a hypnotic and catatonic tone, besides a classic austerity, on the mini-album Tropics And Meridians (1996). Sustained by abrasive and inconclusive guitar doodling, mutant rhythm and off-key counterpoint of violin and trumpet, Four Great Points (1998) metabolized dub, raga, jazz, pop in a theater of calculated gestures.

  • KATHARINA GROSSE STEFAN SCHNEIDER TIERGARTEN Album Vinyl/DL TAL03 International Release Date 04.03.2017 Worldwide Distribution MORR
KATHARINA GROSSE STEFAN SCHNEIDER TIERGARTEN Album Vinyl/DL TAL03 International release date 04.03.2017 Worldwide distribution MORR Walter Benjamin begins his Berlin Childhood around 1900, a book in the form of a series of vignettes, with the following two sentences: "Not to find one!s way around a city does not mean much. But to lose one!s way in a city, as one loses one!s way in a forest, requires some schooling." Entitled Tiergarten, after the eponymous park in central Berlin, this passage from Benjamin's memoir written in the 1930s anticipates what a generation later Guy Debord put forth with his concept of dérive (1956) – a kind of consciously counterintuitive drifting through the city in order to upend its common logic and routine. The city as a sometimes alien piece of nature that you moonwalk through can still be resuscitated, even a century after the initial experiences described. It may be tempting to describe the first collaborative album by Katharina Grosse and Stefan Schneider, titled Tiergarten as a collaboration of an internationally renowned visual artist and an equally internationally renowned musician. Grosse's distinctive approach to non- representational painting on an architectural scale, well beyond the limits of the canvas, has been the subject of exhibitions worldwide, at art institutions including New York's MoMA PS1, Chicago's Rennaissance Society, or the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. And Schneider's musical activities have gone from being a founding member of Dusseldorf outfit Kreidler, through his longtime commitment as a member of Berlin-based trio To Rococo Rot, to his many performances and recordings with musicians including Krautrock legends Hans-Joachim Roedelius (Cluster), Klaus Dinger (Kraftwerk, NEU!), and Hans-Joachim Irmler (Faust), or contemporary drumming virtuoso John McEntire (Tortoise, The Sea and Cake) .

  • Tarwater Adrift
Tarwater Adrift CD / Vinyl (incl. CD) / Download Release: October 31, 2014 The Berlin-based electronic duo Tarwater (Ronald Lippok and Bernd Jestram) formed in 1995. They have produced eleven regular studio albums and various collaborations (eg with Piano Magic, Tuxedomoon, B. Fleischmann), as well as numerous film and theater scores. Lippok also plays in the band To Rococo Rot. • File under: Indietronics, Neo-Krautrock "We are not minimalists," emphasize Tarwater. Perhaps the term is overused to the point of meaninglessness, but it can certainly be assumed that the band has been labeled as such more than once. Their new album "Adrift" is an album of voices and rhythms, with an atmosphere that may at first seem reduced, yet further listening reveals a wealth of detail. "Adrift" was created in 2013/14 and completed after Ronald Lippok and Bernd Jestram worked together with Maurus Ronner on the soundtrack for the documentary "24h Jerusalem". Such projects are not a disruption for Tarwater, but serve as catalysts for new interactions. They make music in a "laboratory with changing experimental arrangements". One might imagine the two lab technicians as travelers. And just as the result of an experiment is uncertain, the final destination of the journey is initially unclear. Tarwater encourage this state of being "Adrift". The cover of the album shows the empty field of the former Berlin airport at Tempelhof, photographed by Robert Lippok, who also provided the photo for the cover of Tarwater's previous album, "Inside The Ships" (2011, Bureau B 085). Then it was an uncompleted Space Opera. This time it's about the "search for our own Byzantium".

KREIDLER TARWATER Exclusive Record Store Day 12" vinyl LIMITED TO 500 Units! th Release date: April 21 , 2012 Label: Bureau B Cat no.: BB107 Distributor: Indigo / MS 965266 Tracklisting: Barcode (EAN): Kreidler – Team (2:39) / Big Eden (5:56) 4047179652667 Tarwater - Voyage To Arcturus (2:43) / Hush (3:06) / Tanning (3:07) BUREAU B celebrates 2012’s Record Store Day with a series of exclusive 12" vinyl releases. Kreidler and Tarwater are important protagonists of the new German electronic music scene. Both bands combine electronic and analogue sounds. One of the main differences: While Kreidler makes mainly instrumental music, Tarwater use vocals on nearly every track. Kreidler formed in 1994 in Düsseldorf (home of NEU! and Kraftwerk). They have released eight regular studio albums to this day and have remixed artists such as Depeche Mode, Einstürzende Neubauten and Faust among 20 others and cooperated with artists like Klaus Dinger (NEU!), Add (N) to X, Young Gods, Theo Altenberg, Momus, Leo Garcia, Pyrolator and Chicks on Speed. Their music has been used for high profile fashion shows (Chanel, Lacoste, Giles Deacon), films, theatre and dance performances. Their contribution to our exclusive Record Store Day vinyl consist of two previously unreleased tracks, recorded during the sessions for their latest release “Tank”: The first one, “Team”, takes us to the countryside and has a surprisingly positive aura; ”Big Eden” drops us back into the Jetztzeit, even hinting at echoes of Manchester Rave and 80s Indie Brit Pop. Is this something like the new sound of Düsseldorf? The Berlin-based electronic duo Tarwater, consisting of Bernd Jestram and Ronald Lippok, have been releasing music since 1995.
