ASSOCIATION OF DELAWARE CATHERINE SOLES POMEROY 204 DALLAM ROAD NOTTINGHAM MANOR NEWARK, DELAWARE October 28, 2004 Dear Neighbors, It feels strange to write to you as a group when I have known so many of you since I was a young child, growing up in Nottingham Green. Others of you I have met as an adult through the various community organizations we are involved with and during my husband's campaign for state representative. I wish I could write each of you an individual letter to tell you why I think you should vote for Paul, but that would be impossible. I hope you will take a few minutes to read this and learn more about Paul. Though Paul is a Republican and I am a Democrat, we share the same values and the same core beliefs. We both reject discrimination is all of its many forms. We both are committed to raising our son to respect others' opinions, lifestyles and choices. We both believe that all children have the right to excellent education in safe schools. We both believe that all people have the right to adequate healthcare. We both believe that women have the right to choice. And we believe that the government must play an important role in ensuring these rights. As lifelong Delawareans, Paul and I share a vision for Delaware's future, a vision that I am sure most of you share, as well. We want a Delaware with one of the strongest public education systems in the nation. We see a Delaware with clean air, clean water and plenty of green space. We envision a Delaware with low infant mortality rates, low cancer rates and low AIDS rates. We want a Delaware with a booming economy and great jobs. But Paul can see more than how it can be, he can see how to get us there. Paul knows that a good education results when teachers can teach children to learn, not teach to a test, and that schools are stronger when decisions are made at the school level, not by administrators in another building. Paul can tell you how public policy can protect the environment and our health while still supporting business, and that they in fact go hand-in-hand. Paul knows that we must explore the promise of stem cell research if we are to find cures for the incapacitating diseases that afflict far too many people, including my mother. Paul understands what steps must be taken right away to ensure that our shared vision will happen. Paul and I love Delaware, and we love Newark. We have made a lifetime commitm.ent to this community. That is why Paul seeks to represent us as state representative - to help protect and shape the future of Newark for all of us. I hope you will vote for him and for our future this coming Tuesday. Thank you. ~ Catherine Soles Pomeroy Paul, Catherine and son, Paul.
