NEXT STOP: PGA TOUR / 2011 Over the final weeks of the 2010 season, the Nationwide Tour is tracking the competition for a spot in "The 25". The top-25 money winners at the conclusion of next week's Nationwide Tour Championship at Daniel Island in Charleston, S.C. (Oct. 28-31) will be awarded PGA TOUR cards for 2011. Miccosukee Championship winner Jason Gore put himself in contention to recapture his PGA TOUR card. The Californian came to Miami 124th on the money list. While he still has a lot of work to do, he arrives in Ponte Vedra Beach this week 39th. Scott Gutschewski is in a strong position to earn a return trip to the PGA TOUR as he grabbed a T2 finish to move from 27th to 18th. After missing his last five cuts, Chris Nallen fell four spots and now occupies the bubble position at No. 25. He has a $2,853 cushion over David Hearn , whose was in contention for the win in Miami only to play the last 11 holes in five-over par. At one point he was projected to finish the week inside the top 15 on the money list. The Canadian started the week at No. 30. The Nationwide Tour is in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. for the first time this week, playing the Winn-Dixie Jacksonville Open presented by Planters at TPC Sawgrass / Dye's Valley Course at PGA TOUR headquarters. Winds WNW 5-10 mph. Second-Round Leaderboard Positio n Name Score T1 Matt Jones 65-66—131 (-12) T1 Brandt Snedeker 64-67—131 (-12) 3 Justin Hicks 64-68—132 (-11) Brandt Snedeker In Friday’s second round, 2013 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am champion Brandt Snedeker posted a 5-under 67 at Spyglass Hill, his second consecutive, bogey-free round. Snedeker comes into the week ranked outside the top-50 in the Official World Golf Ranking (No. 63). As a result of that, having not won in 2014 and a career-high, 86 th -place finish in the 2014 FedExCup standings, he is not currently eligible to compete in this year’s Masters Tournament or World Golf Championships events. Snedeker needs a victory prior to Augusta to earn a spot into this year’s Masters field and to be ranked inside the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking by February 23 to earn a spot into the WGC-Cadillac Championship field. Snedeker has competed in every Masters Tournament since 2008.

  • Second-Round Notes – Friday, April 17, 2009
2009 VERIZON HERITAGE Harbour Town Golf Links April 13-19, 2009 FedExCup Pts: 500 Purse: $5,700,000 Hilton Head Island, SC Par/Yards: 36-35--71/6,973 Second-Round Notes – Friday, April 17, 2009 Weather : Sunny and breezy. High of 68. Winds NE 10-20 mph. Brian Gay birdied five consecutive holes (Nos. 4-8) on his way to a 5-under 66 and a one-stroke lead over Todd Hamilton (66). It was the best birdie-streak at the Verizon Heritage since Boo Weekley birdied the same five holes in round three in 2008. Brian Gay is making his 10 th start at Harbour Town, with three previous made cuts (T42-2001, T9-2006, T16- 2007). So far this season, the 2008 Mayakoba Golf Classic champion has made 10 cuts in 11 starts, with a T5 at the Sony Open in Hawaii his best of five top-25 finishes. He is currently No. 29 on the FedExCup points list. The second-round lead is the second of Brian Gay’s career. His first came at the 2001 Zurich Classic of New Orleans, when he shared the lead with Phil Mickelson on the way to a T5 finish. This is the 13 th straight year that the Verizon Heritage has produced an outright second-round leader. The last time there were co-leaders through 36 holes was in 1996 when Jeff Sluman and Tom Watson shared the lead at 6- under. In the 41-year history of the event, there have been co-leaders after two rounds just 11 times.
