According to Davis, Major Michael Worrell will serve as interim sheriff. Davis spoke about his retirement decision earlier this week. "We had talked about it in 2015 - my family and I had. We were getting ready to move into a new building, we were in the process of taking over the school resource officers and things like that and had a lot of things going on. We'd hired some new people. I just felt like it was a good time to stay," Davis said. "Everything has worked out. We've got a great bunch of people who work here. We've hired a bunch of great people. Ninety percent of the people we've hired are just superior.
