Bruins Fly Past Resilient Red Wings Sports42 FRIDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2014 Bruins fly past resilient Red Wings Coyotes knock off winless Oilers 7-4 DETROIT: David Krejci and Reilly Smith scored in regulation and again in the shootout as the Boston Bruins beat the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 Wednesday night. The Bruins outshot Detroit 35-18 in regulation, and Jimmy Howard made three key saves in overtime - the last to stop Torey Krug at point-blank range. Howard, though, couldn’t stop Krejci and Smith in the shootout, while neither Gustav Nyquist or Andrej Nestrasil could get their shots on net. Nyquist tied the score at 2:56 of the third period, snapping a wrist shot past Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask to end Detroit’s streak of nine scoreless power plays. Tomas Tatar also scored for the Red Wings. Boston had two great chances in the final minute of regulation, but Howard made a pad save on Dougie Hamilton, then knocked away Simon Gagne’s attempt to put in the rebound. FLAMES 2, BLACKHAWKS 1, OT Jonas Hiller made 49 saves and Mikael Backlund scored at 4:35 of overtime, lifting the Calgary Flames to a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday night. Dennis Wideman also scored for the Flames, who were coming off a 3-2 win at Nashville on Tuesday. The Blackhawks controlled the action for much of the night, enjoying a whopping 50-18 advantage in shots on goal. But Hiller was outstanding and Backlund used a wrist shot to beat Corey Crawford on the goaltender’s glove side for his first goal of the season. Andrew Shaw scored in the third period and Crawford had 16 saves in Chicago’s first loss in three games. The overtime began with a nice stop by Crawford on Paul Byron’s breakaway opportunity just 40 seconds into the extra period. Turnbull Hockey Pool for Each year, Turnbull students participate in several fundraising initiatives, which we promote as a way to develop a sense of community, leadership and social responsibility within the students. Last year's grade 7 and 8 students put forth a great deal of effort campaigning friends and family members to join Turnbull's annual NHL hockey pool, raising a total of $1750 for a charity of their choice (the United Way). This year's group has decided to run the hockey pool for the benefit of Help Lesotho, an international development organization working in the AIDS-ravaged country of Lesotho in southern Africa. From www.helplesotho.org "Help Lesotho’s programs foster hope and motivation in those who are most in need: orphans, vulnerable children, at-risk youth and grandmothers. Our work targets root causes and community priorities, including literacy, youth leadership training, school twinning, child sponsorship and gender programming. Help Lesotho is an effective, sustainable organization that is working at the grass-roots level to support the next generation of leaders in Lesotho." Your participation in this year's NHL hockey pool is very much appreciated. We believe it will provide students and their friends and families an opportunity to have fun together while giving back to their community by raising awareness and funds for a great cause. Prizes: > Grand Prize awarded to contestant whose team accumulates the most points over the regular NHL season = 10" Samsung Galaxy Tablet > Monthly Prizes awarded to the contestants whose teams accumulate the most points over each designated period (see website) = Two Movie Passes How it Works: > Everyone in the community is welcome to join in on the fun.

DOBBER’S 2010-11 FANTASY GUIDE DOBBERHOCKEY.COM – HOME OF THE TOP 300 FANTASY PLAYERS I think we’re at the point in the fantasy hockey universe where DobberHockey.com is either known in a fantasy league, or the GM’s are sleeping. Besides my column in The Hockey News’ Ultimate Pool Guide, and my contributions to this year’s Score Forecaster (fifth year doing each), I put an ad in McKeen’s. That covers the big three hockey pool magazines and you should have at least one of them as part of your draft prep. The other thing you need, of course, is this Guide right here. It is not only updated throughout the summer, but I also make sure that the features/tidbits found in here are unique. I know what’s in the print mags and I have always tried to set this Guide apart from them. Once again, this is an automatic download – just pick it up in your downloads section. Look for one or two updates in August, then one or two updates between September 1st and 14th. After that, when training camp is in full swing, I will be updating every two or three days right into October. Make sure you download the latest prior to heading into your draft (and don’t ask me on one day if I’ll be updating the next day – I get so many of those that I am unable to answer them all, just download as late as you can). Any updates beyond this original release will be in bold blue.

Buffalo Sabres Daily Press Clips October 20, 2016 Monahan scores in OT, Flames top Sabres Associated Press October 19, 2016 CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — Sean Monahan's overtime goal brought a sense of relief to the Calgary Flames' locker room. Monahan scored 2:26 into overtime, giving Calgary its first win of the season, 4-3 over the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night. The 22-year-old made a nifty move and beat Robin Lehner over his shoulder for his first of the season after being set up alone in front by Johnny Gaudreau. "Everybody needed that goal, and when I say everybody, probably the fans, the coaches and Mony himself," said Glen Gulutzan, who earned his first victory as Calgary's coach. After dropping back-to-back games in Edmonton and then losing in overtime in Vancouver on Saturday, the Flames had pressure building on a team expected to take a giant step forward in 2016-17. "When you win, it brings confidence," Monahan said. "As a group, it's home ice and the way that we battled back and found a way to win is big for our team." Matthew Tkachuk got his first NHL goal, and Michael Frolik and Micheal Ferland also scored for Calgary. Zemgus Girgensons, Ryan O'Reilly and Marcus Foligno scored for Buffalo. Calgary trailed 2-1 entering the third period but tied it at 1:10. Foligno's turnover in his own corner was taken by Ferland, who darted straight to the net and lifted a backhand into the top corner. Foligno made up for his error on his next shift, with a nifty inside-out move to sidestep Deryk Engelland and then flicking a high shot past Chad Johnson on the glove side.

Additionally, Part I will examine the general nature of the allegations contained within the National Hockey League Concussion Litigation. Following this brief overview, Part II of this article outlines the American legal perspectives relating to tortious liability for injuries sustained as a result of player to player conduct. To illustrate the potential application of such tort law principles with regards to professional ice hockey-related claims, this section will analyze various case law, as well as the events that occurred on January 27, 2016, in which NHL Linesman, Don Henderson, was forcefully struck in his neck/head by Calgary Flames defenseman, Dennis Wideman.2 Thereafter, Part III discusses the implications of the legal standards depicted in Part II in an attempt to determine the general viability of the Players claims against the League.3 Additionally, this section 1 See Complaint for Damages and Demand for Jury Trial, Leeman, v.
