Several free park-and-ride facilities are located throughout the valley that offer convenient access to transit and carpooling. Trip to Strip, the RTC’s rideshare service that serves the busy resort corridor and downtown Las Vegas is another transportation option. In addition to anticipated traffic delays, the RTC transit system will operate on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 28 and a Saturday schedule on Family Day, Friday Nov. 29. Holiday Traffic Drivers traveling in and out of Southern Nevada should prepare for longer commutes. According to the RTC’s traffic management center, the heaviest travel day will be Wednesday, Nov. 27, with peak traffic congestion on I-15 northbound expected between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) anticipates 180,000 people will be driving into Southern Nevada that day. Trip to Strip Commuters can dodge traffic frustrations in some of the busiest areas of the city by booking a ride with Trip to Strip, the RTC’s affordable on-demand service along the Las Vegas resort corridor from downtown Las Vegas to the M Resort, including McCarran International Airport. Black Friday bargain- hunters can rely on Trip to Strip to avoid driving in traffic and fighting for parking at busy shopping centers within the service area. The 24-hour service operates seven days a week and is a great option for Black Friday shoppers who want to ride in style within downtown Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Strip. Park-and-Ride Facilities People flying in and out of Southern Nevada for the holiday can park their vehicles at one of the RTC’s park-and-ride locations for free and take transit to get to various destinations around the valley, including McCarran International Airport and popular shopping centers. SOUTHEAST: South Strip Transit Terminal – 6675 S. Gilespie St. The Strip & Downtown Express (SDX) Route can take riders to Fashion Show Mall, Town Square Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Premium Outlets North and South. The Maryland Parkway Route 109 will take riders to the Boulevard Mall. Route 109 also services Terminal 1 (free inter-terminal shuttle provided by McCarran International Airport to Terminal 3). NORTHWEST: Centennial Hills Transit Center and Park & Ride – 7313 Grand Montecito Pkwy. The Centennial Express (CX) provides access to the Las Vegas Premium Outlets North and Fashion Show Mall as well as Terminal 3 of McCarran International Airport (free inter-terminal shuttle provided by McCarran International Airport to Terminal 1). WEST: Westcliff Transit Center and Park & Ride – 25 S. Durango Dr., just south of Summerlin Parkway. The Westcliff Airport Express (WAX) provides access to Las Vegas Premium Outlets North, Boca Park and Tivoli Village shopping centers. It also provides connectivity to both Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 at the airport. The RTC also collaborates with private businesses for additional park-and-ride locations throughout the valley. SERVICE DETAILS: The RTC is also making transit even more convenient for the festive holiday by adding 24-hour service to two routes, in addition to the 13 RTC routes that regularly run 24/7, and extending service hours on several others. And while this year’s celebrations are scaled down due to the pandemic, some road closures will still be in place on the Las Vegas Strip & Downtown Las Vegas.
