4 and County of San Francisco; and commending the organization on the occasion of its

5 35th anniversary.

6 7 WHEREAS, CHEER San Francisco was founded in 1980 as the world's first LGBT-

8 identified cheerleading team proudly representing the unique diversity, spirit and energy of the

9 City of San Francisco by entertaining and inspiring audiences locally, nationally and

1O internationally for 35 years; and

11 WHEREAS, CHEER San Francisco has for many years performed locally in the San

12 Francisco Pride Celebration and Parade, Chinese New Year Parade, Italian Heritage Day

13 Parade, St. Patrick's Day Parade, Union Street Easter Parade, Veteran's Day Parade, Cinco

14 de Mayo Parade, Pistahan Parade, World Series Championship Parade and numerous grand

15 openings, conventions, festivals, and corporate events; and

16 WHEREAS, CHEER San Francisco has represented the City of San Francisco at

17 events regionally throughout the State of California, nationally in Oregon, Nevada, Texas,

18 Illinois, Ohio, Florida, New York, and Washington D.C., and internationally in Canada, the

19 Netherlands, Germany, Singapore and Australia; and

20 WHEREAS, CHEER San Francisco has appeared at three Presidential Inaugural

21 Ceremonies and has been featured on the national television shows America's Got Talent,

22 Good Morning America and WWE Tough Enough; and

23 WHEREAS, CHEER San Francisco has raised and donated over $300,000 over the

24 past 15 years to numerous non-profit agencies supporting and strengthening communities

25 through its unique, philanthropic CHEER FOR LIFE campaign; now, therefore, be it

3 community; and, be it 4 FURTHER RESOLVED, That the San Francisco Board of Supervisors declares

5 CHEER San Francisco as the 'Official Cheerleaders' of the City and County of San Francisco.
