Historic Renovation of Macy’s Herald Square Creates a World of Luxury with New Shops from Gucci, Burberry, and Longchamp

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Macy's Herald Square, universally recognized as a pre- eminent global shopping destination, will reinvent its majestic Main Floor as the dramatic centerpiece of an unprecedented four-year, $400 million renovation. The epic redesign will welcome the world’s leading luxury Gucci, Burberry and Longchamp to one of the most celebrated crossroads in the world – Broadway & 34th St. The world-famous flagship will create a spectacular stage for fashion’s most iconic and internationally recognized brands with side-by-side, multi-level shops soaring three levels and spanning a city block - a first within a department store setting. Second only in scale to each ’s own flagship location, the new luxury shops by Gucci, Burberry and Longchamp will now have a new midtown address at the World's Largest Store opening Holiday 2012.

Our goal is for Macy's Herald Square to be not just the largest store, but the most exciting, most innovative, and most technologically-advanced fashion destination in the world.”

With more than 20 million visitors each year, these shops will become a ‘must see and shop’ destination for luxury. I am especially excited that these luxury shops will officially open as part of our reinvented Main Floor when shoppers are looking for handbags, shoes and leather goods for the holiday season.”

The magnitude of the reinvent will significantly enhance the entire in-store experience, ensuring that the World’s Largest Store continues as the preferred shopping destination worldwide. Macy’s Herald Square will be transformed and refashioned for the future with bold architectural design and aesthetic elements coupled with technological enhancements that will elevate the luxury shopping experience for its customers. Following the extensive remodel of Macy's Main Floor, Mezzanine and Second Levels, the reconfigured floor plan will create a visually stunning retail environment with side-by-side shops spanning multiple floors that frame the main Broadway entrance. Macy's Main Floor will expand into luxury offerings presenting the latest handbag collections from the world’s most coveted brands – Gucci, Burberry and Longchamp. The luxury shop- in-shops will open into the World’s Largest Shoe Floor on 2 creating a distinct, signature retail experience.

Each shop will be customized with the finest structural details that will transcend the shopping experience into a new level of entertainment. The scope of the redesign will bring sweeping staircases and elevators, enhancing the customer experience within each shop. The new luxury shops will encompass the best of each brand’s store design and merchandise assortments as part of the first phase of Macy’s four-year renovation.

With the evolution of the Broadway building, the landmark store’s retail legacy as the pre- eminent showcase for apparel and accessories will be unparalleled with its unique presentation of prestige brands.

GUCCI

Gucci, the Italian luxury brand world-renowned for more than 90 years of incomparable luxury goods experience and craftsmanship, will open its first-ever shop within Macy’s Herald Square in a custom three-level space. Joining Gucci’s two other New York City landmark destinations on 5th Ave. and Madison Ave., the new shop will cater to the unique international clientele of the world-famous Herald Square. An impressive architectural endeavor spanning 6,200 square feet, the shop will feature a luxurious staircase and two- story façade. The new Gucci shop will offer a full range of exceptionally crafted accessories including handbags, small leather goods, women’s and men’s shoes, jewelry and watches.

BURBERRY

With over 156 years of heritage, and craftsmanship, Burberry will open a three- level space. The 3,600 square foot store will feature large and small leather goods, as well as heritage rainwear. Digitally advanced and true to form, the store will feature a two-story façade, which will incorporate the latest technology to project live feeds from seasonal runway shows and stream brand content.

Burberry, which is headquartered in , was founded in 1856. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange (BRBY.L) and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 index.

LONGCHAMP

The French fashion staple will also be a new addition to Macy’s Herald Square. The 2-level space will bring the best of the brand’s assortment of handbags and leather goods to its 1,500 square foot in-store shop.

Longchamp was founded in in 1948 by Jean Cassegrain. The company is still owned and run by the Cassegrain family. Diversified into luggage, handbags and accessories, Longchamp has asserted its fashion credentials with high-profile advertising campaigns, the creation of internationally desirable It-bags and the launch of complete shoes and ready-to- wear collections.
