Fall 2019 Special Interest Groups: Reading (full) Wednesday, 8:30 am at Sunny Slope Knitting Wednesday, 10:15 am at Sunny Slope Painting Friday, 10:00 am at Sunny Slope 3 Greetings from University Outreach It’s always an exciting time in Auburn with the return of students in the Fall – and that includes OLLI! You are all a special part of Auburn’s student body, one dedicated to learning for a lifetime. And as members of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Auburn, you are also representatives of one of the university’s longest standing, and most successful outreach programs. For three decades, OLLI has been a cornerstone of Auburn University’s Outreach mission in serving those beyond campus. I am very proud to be associated with this extraordinary program as part of our Outreach division, and appreciate the dedication of the members, Advisory Board, and OLLI staff. This year, we have seen much progress in membership growth, program development, and improvement to the beautiful Sunny Slope campus. I am especially excited about OLLI’s 30th academic year. The upcoming semester focuses on Alabama’s bicentennial with a wonderful series of lectures, and throughout the year OLLI will offer new courses and special events – and an anniversary celebration that I know you all will enjoy. Set as we are in the triangle of the Jules Collins Smith Museum and new Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center, OLLI is truly at the heart of Auburn University’s arts and cultural corridor. More importantly, OLLI is the center of learning for people all across the fastest growing geographic area of our state. OLLI offers opportunities to learn with some of America’s leading scholars, and the finest of Auburn’s academic, research, and outreach faculty. OLLI at Auburn fosters a vibrant lifelong learning experience, but I think its greatest benefit is this wonderful fellowship of learners as part of the greater Auburn Family. Enjoy the upcoming year with your fellows in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Auburn University. I wish you the best in all your learning pursuits. War Eagle! Royrickers Cook, PhD Vice President for University Outreach and Associate Provost Greetings from the Director It is going to be an exciting year. A couple of highlights: This fall term we are going to present a Bicentennial Brown Bag Series – seven speakers will be presenting talks about the people, places, and stories of Alabama.
