This woman should be a politician as she clearly has her head up her own rear end and doesn't listen to the hard facts. Shame on you. God bless all those KW veterans wherever they are and to those in all wars past and present and future.

Saturday 07/05/2008 11:47:29am Name: Bill Dillon E-Mail: [email protected] Referred By: Just Surfed In Other Referred by: Lynnita Brown City/Country: Lancaster PA. Comments: I am a Purple Heart Veteran! When I was in those muddy trenches in Korea, everyday living was pretty miserable. However, seeing those brave young men coming out of the sky, diving with their F86s and Corsairs, dropping their 500 and 1000 pound bombs on the enemy was a sight to see. I thought to myself, it takes a lot of guts for those guys to go into a steep dive to drop those bombs. I often wondered if they knew just how much the infantry down on the ground appreciated what they were doing up there. We were able to get off our bellies and walk around like normal human beings while they kept the enemy off our backs. To this day, I am still thankful for those brave young men. I say thank you and God bless Sen. John McCain for his years of service to this country. It is important to recognize the sacrifices he made when his plane was shot out of the sky and he spent all those years as a POW. I personally think that Wesley Clark ought to be ashamed of the comments he made about the Senator’s service. It took a lot of guts for John McCain to do what he did. He said that the ROK troops on Chaeju (Jeju) Island said they didn't need so much rice, and when he went there to investigate, was finally told they had killed 10,000 prisoners and dumped them in caves. He also used to have pictures of heads piled up on trucks, executed commies, some young girls. He said he was given some decoration by the ROK. He also said he was shot down once near a frozen lake but survived while the pilot died -- hard to believe that one. Any information?

When I got out in 1954 I asked what they would do for the frozen hands and feet, and they laughted at me and said. That is tissue damage try to prove it. I applied two times after discharge and was denied both times. Finaly after 50 years of try I received 10% for each of the extremities and 10% for PTSD. I have an app in for upgrading put have not heard anything yet. The point is never give up. Good luck to all those trying.

Cook E-Mail: [email protected] Referred By: Friend Other Referred by: I'd signed the guest book on 8 August 2001 but we've moved and have a new e-mail address. I took my training at Aberdeen Proving Grounds and was slated for Korea but my medical records were lost so while the rest of the training contingent shipped out to the far east I stayed behind to establish new medical records and then was shipped out to England. We landed on the 16th of June 1953, just two weeks after the new queens coronation. towns were still decorated and it was a welcome sight to this young soldier. I was sent to R.A.F. Station Chelveston and assigned to the 620th EAMC as a member of SCARWAF (Special Category Army With Air Force). I worked in the machine shop located in a "T" hanger dating back to WWII when the 305th Heavy Bomd Group was stationed at the base. I left England in September 1955 and married the young lady who had waited for me. We celebrated our fifty first anniversary in May 2007. I look back on my service days with fondness. I was very fortunate not to have gone with the rest of those I trained with to Korea, so many didn't come back. they are the heroes.

I just wanted to say thanks as my father didn't talk much about his war experiences except that he was a medic, circled the globe, and ended up in Okinawa where a typhoon blew away his tent and he had to stay in what had been Japanese officers' quarters which was dangerous because of booby traps but no incidents. Thursday 01/04/2007 5:18:22pm Name: John Boone E-Mail: [email protected] Referred By: Just Surfed In Other Referred by: City/Country: Comments: Good Day,

First thank you so much for operating such an excellent site on the Korean War.

Your site has been helpful to me as I have begun to search for information about my two fathers (birth father and adopted father) during their tours in and over Korea in 1953.

My birth father was PFC Harry Lord Sargent, Jr. from Hampden, Maine, a BAR man in the Army, Company E, 27th IR, 25th ID. He was killed in action on May 6th, 1953 by enemy artillery fire. Official papers I have indicate he was killed near Munsan-Ni, Korea. Following my mothers death, I have just received numerous letters written by my birth father to her from the day he left for basic on Sept. 4, 1952 until the day he was killed in May of 1953. Also included in the papers was a letter from a fellow soldier in his unit to my mother. In his letter he describes a pact between my father and him to write each others family in case one or the other was hit and provide details to the respective family. In his letter from 1954 to my mother, he finally is able to "honor his promise" and in response to my mother's requests he shares the time, location and details of my fathers death. He indicates they were located on Hill 155 when around noon on May 6th, 1953 an enemy artillery barrage fell upon their positions and my father was mortally injured having been wounded beyond the abilities of the medics locally to save him.

Here is where I would appreciate your assistance. Can you tell me where Hill 155 was? Secondly, can you educate me as to how the various hills came to be known as Hill 155, or Hill 234, etc? Any assistance you can provide will be appreciated.

As I mentioned earlier I had two "fathers" serving in Korea at the same time. I was 7 months old when my birth father was killed. Some years later, my mother met and married Samual H Boone. Sam flew in B-29s over Korea with the 19th Bomb Group, 28th Bomb Squadron from January 1953 - July 1953. Sam raised me as his own and today we converse regularly via email and phone. Sam spent his Air Force career as a member of SAC, retiring as a Major in 1969 having flown in B-29, B-36, B-47 and B- 52 aircraft to mention a few. I am very proud to be both these men's son.

Best Regards, John Sargent Boone

Wednesday 01/03/2007 4:00:59pm Name: Robert Leibold E-Mail: [email protected] Referred By: Just Surfed In Other Referred by: City/Country: Boston Mountains, USA Comments: My father, Lowell F. Leibold, a Navy corpsman and 27-year-old 're-tread' from the Second World War, was a member of "Easy" Medical Company (lstMarDiv.) between 1951-52. The photos of Easy Med and the oral testimonies of Dr. Barney Dibble and Navy corpsman Tom Brown (2/5) somehow brought my dad back to life once more even if only for a few minutes. Dad passed in 1994, just missing the sweeping national revival of interest in the two wars in which he served. To survivors of George Company 3/7 and former members of Easy Med, here's a sincere and hearty thank you for your Korean service. My dad's last mortal words were spoken while he lay semi-comatose in a Branson, Missouri hospital bed, and they were reserved for you, the men with whom he had served on Okinawa (Operation "Iceberg") and in Korea.

He has never been one to talk about the war to me, but when I go and see him tomorrow I am going to try and get him to tell me the name of his unit so that I can get him added to this wonderful database, and I will try and get any names of any buddies he remembers so that maybe I can bring them together thru the help of this site. Thanks so much for letting people know who call it the "Forgotten War" that it wasnt forgetable for anyone who was there. Also, I would like to say thanks so much for defending my freedoms, even before I was born. I am only 35, but I see the things which my father wont talk about in his eyes and I wonder does he think, as he reflects back on his life, did it go unnoticed. I will let him know that it did not and that this is a wonderful place. Thanks so much-- Regina Lassiter

Nor could they remember any of my guys. No wonder. We weren't socializing. We were busy saving our lives when we got to the reservior. I couldn't find my guys but made a few new friends in the search, You know Don Mayville, Butch Margan, Jerry Francois, these are some of them. I even got to talk to Ed Reeves, but again, he couldn't remember any of my names. I'm going to go through these 385 pages you have now. Who knows. Might hit it lucky.
