ROUNDTABLE

Professor Fred Fagg of , an authority on questions of air law, was the speaker at the January meeting. "Practice in Workmen's Compensation Cases" was discussed by Professor Wendell Shanner at the meeting in February. Jacob Grossman, Master-in-Chancery in the United States District Court, spoke on "Practice before a Master in the Federal Court" at the meeting held on March 11. Hon. Otto Kerner, '05, Attorney General of Illinois, will be the guest of honor at the next meet- ing on April 8. The annual business meeting of Roundtable will be held in May, which will conclude the program activities for the year.

FRATERNITY AVERAGES

Phi Delta Phi retains possession of the scholarship cup for this semester. Fraternity averages were as follows: , 1.600; Delta Chi, 1.471; Kappa Beta Pi, 1.362; Alpha Sigma Iota, 1.339; Nu Beta Epsilon, 1.314; , 1.169; Sigma Delta Kappa, 1.058; , 1.047.

Nu BETA EPSILON Newly elected officers of the chapter are Nathan N. Powell, Chancellor; Samuel K. Charness, Vice-Chancellor; Fred J. Wood- man, Scribe; Solomon Harris, Master of Exchequer; Philip Mizock, Sergeant-at-Arms; and J. Rothchild, Corresponding Scribe.

In accordance with the program of activities adopted by Judah P. Benjamin Chapter during the last year three dinners have been held at the LaSalle Hotel where fraters, pledges and alumni of Nu Beta Epsilon dined and listened to instructing and entertaining talks by Professor Charles C. Pickett, Irving Zazove, and Professor James R. Hemingway. The program will be con- tinued during the ensuing year.

M. R. Kargman, an alumnus of Benjamin Chapter, has been elected Grand Chancellor of the Grand Council of Nu Beta Epsi- lon. CHICAGO-KENT REVIEW

SIGMA DELTA KAPPA No News.

ALPHA SIGMA IOTA Alpha Sigma Iota is pleased to announce that the following men: N. Astrinsky, D. Berger, and N. Footlik, and R. Katz have been accepted into membership and will be initiated into the Chapter at a dinner to be held at the St. Clair Hotel on Sunday, February 26. The Chapter has outlined a series of educational lectures at which men, well known in various fields, have been invited to speak. -The first of these lectures was held at a smoker at the Bismark Hotel on Friday, March 3. Professor Charles C. Pickett was the speaker and delivered a talk which was both interesting and educational. The second talk of this series was a forum held on March 12. Rabbi Goldman, one of the best known men in the field of religion, was the speaker. Notice of the time and place of suc- ceeding forums will be posted and all students and faculty mem- bers of the school are invited to attend.

DELTA THETA PHI No News.

PHI ALPHA DELTA Throughout the fall and winter months Blackstone Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta held a series of informal smokers at the La- Salle Hotel, averaging about two a month. In addition several business meetings were called by Justice Glenn W. Stokes. The activities of the first semester culminated in the initiation, on Feb- ruary 11, of the following eight men: J. Joseph Carraher, John S. Hoag, Walter C. Kreider, Harry L. Peters, Miles J. Seyk, Lee James Skoner, George B. Sturtz, Richard C. Swander. The initiation was attended by past Supreme Justice George Fink, and present Supreme Justice Allen T. Gilbert, who delivered a short formal address at the close of the ceremonies. In addition, several alumni members of the chapter were present and assisted in the work. At the dinner which followed Brother Gilbert spoke again, informally. The annual formal party of the six Chicago chapters was held at the Drake Hotel on Saturday evening, February 25. UNDERGRADUATE NEWS

PHI DELTA PHI

Fuller Inn of Phi Delta Phi takes pleasure in announcing the initiation of the following members on February 18, 1933: Ralph W. Applegate, Robert Bussian, Francis H. Bernet, Joe E. Gub- bins, William W. Hall, John H. Hickok, William D. Hilton, Wil- liam B. Hutchinson, Orson W. Kidder, W. Walter Speer, Ray- mond W. Tewksbury, Robert C. Thompson. The Inn elected the following officers for the year 1933 to 1934: Magister, Earle Harrison; Gladiator, August Babize; Clerk, John Gorby, Jr.; Tribune, George Duggan; Historian, Joseph Pois; Reporter, John MeCurry.

DELTA OMICRON DELTA No News.

DELTA CHI The election of officers for the ensuing school year was held at a recent meeting in the clubroom at 208 West Washington Street. At this meeting the following were elected: Norman Leiber, "A"; J. Norman Boiskou, "B"; James P. Hayes, "C"; Walter Leahy, "D"; Stephen A. Ciros, "E"; and JohnBabb, "F". Brothers Carl Just and Joseph Kovarik were graduated with February class and are now preparing for the March Bar ex- amination. Our best wishes for success are extended to them. The following brothers will graduate with the June class: John E. Babb, John J. Balluff and Clark Countryman. Frank Guinn will complete his work in summer school. The chapter announces the pledging of E. T. Gallagher.

KAPPA BETA PI Alpha Chapter of Kappa Beta Pi held its first meeting of the year in the rooms of the Chicago Bar Association on September 10, 1932, at which the following officers were elected: Doris J. Flagg, Dean; Isabel Weldon, Associate Dean; Sara V. Liebenson, Chancellor; Sylvia J. Zelden, Registrar; Agnes M. Kasper, Mar- shall. The retiring Dean, Katharyne E. Bauld, was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors, of which Harriet Bissell and Mary Arthur are the other members. The installation of officers was held at the home of Katharyne E. Bauld on October 8, 1932, and the service was read by Bertha Carlson. 152 CHICAGO-KENT REVIEW

On November 12, 1932, the Chapter entertained the Freshmen girls at a bridge party at the home of Sara V. Liebenson. Regular business meetings were held on December 10, 1932 and January 14, 1933, at the homes of Agnes M. Kasper and Sylvia J. Zelden, and the first Rushing Party was held at the home of Anne G. Carter on February 11, 1933. Alpha Chapter of Kappa Beta Pi is proud to announce that Anne G. Carter was elected to the Roundtable in September, and hopes that the names of more of its members may be in- cluded on the roster of that group in the future. The Chapter takes this opportunity of extending its heartiest congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Kamin (Sara V. Lieben- son) on the occasion of their recent marriage and of wishing them many years of happiness and good luck.
