UNDERGRADUATE NEWS ROUNDTABLE The anual business meeting of Roundtable was held Saturday, May 6, at the Electric Association. At this meeting the follow- ing officers were elected, Professor Charles C. Pickett, Director; Roger L. Severns, Assistant Director; J. N. Boiskou, Secretary; John B. Moore, Assistant Secretary. Members of the executive committee for the coming year are: A. Nechin, Chairman, R. J. Schwarz, Joseph Pois, C. W. Stokes, Owsley Vose, A. V. White- hall, and T. S. Mayer. Following the election of officers Pro- fessor Pickett discussed plans for the next year. SIGMA DELTA KAPPA No News ALPHA SIGMA IOTA No News DELTA THETA PHI While the universal financial unbalance has made itself un- comfortably apparent to this organization, in common with every other, we close the current season of activity without obligations to trouble the new set of officers who will guide us in the com- ing school year. Too much credit cannot be given to Brother R. F. Diekman for his ceaseless and successful efforts in handling our finances. Aside from this, however, the past school year saw a regular schedule of interesting and highly enjoyable meetings, some of which stand out in memory. For example, at one meeting we were favored by a visit from our sincerely esteemed friend and professor, Judge Pickett. On another occasion Brother Jo- seph T. Harrington, honored us with an informal talk on pro- fessional ethics, which left a deep impression on all his hearers. The party at the Morrison Hotel in conjunction with Delta Chi will also be remembered as a pleasurable social event. Near the close of this spring semester, it was our great pleasure to welcome as Brothers, David G. Rowley, Wilfrid Burgess, A. W. Ralston, Duane S. Lawrence and Walter D. Braddock. UNDERGRADUATE NEWS At the regular business meeting of May 5, there were elected and installed as officers of Webster Senate, Brothers Charles Zurick, Robert F. Diekman, Wilfrid C. Burgess, Aymer D. Davis, W. D. Braddock, Paul E. Nelson and Richard J. Schwarz. Brothers L. Roy Worth, Richard H. Walter, Peter Fitzpatrick and Philip D. Anderson were graduated in June. Webster Sen- ate wishes them every success in passing the bar and in their professional careers. PHI ALPHA DELTA The school year 1932-33 was one of the most successful in recent years for Blackstone Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta. Through the initiation of new members, and the transfer of men from other chapters, ten new names were added to the roll of active members. In addition it is planned to hold a second initiation, of the present pledges about the 10th of June. W. F. Born, E. C. Carpenter, H. W. Dutton, E. J. Friedrich, J. M. O'Brien, Jr., W. W. Reynolds, and C. Nichols were formally pledged on the 7th of May. A series of smokers and two chapter parties were held during the past semester. On the 28th of April the chapter was the guest of Brother Allan T. Gilbert, Supreme Justice of the na- tional organization, and some of the other Kent alumni, at a get-together in the grill room of the Hamilton Club. The year was brought to a climax socially, on May 13 by the Spring supper dance and card party at the Medinah Athletic Club. Two or three smokers have been planned for the summer months. At the final meeting of the year the following officers were elected: Loren M. Root, Justice; James W. Collins, Vice-justice; Richard C. Swander, Clerk; Marshall T. Ismond, Treasurer; Miles J. Seyke, Marshall; Glenn W. Stokes, House Trustee. PHI DELTA PHI No News DELTA OMICRON DELTA No News DELTA CHI Chicago-Kent Chapter of Delta Chi takes pleasure in announc- ing the pledging of the following men: George A. Higgins, John H. Wilson, Jr., and J. B. O'Shaughnessy. We are also pleased CHICAGO-KENT REVIEW to announce that our record with the bar examination remains spotless, Brothers Carl Just and Joseph Kovarik being the latest to pass that examination. During the past semester we have initiated into our ranks Brothers Emmet T. Gallagher, a yacht enthusiast, who promises to take the chapter on some interesting cruises during the summer vacation. It gives the chapter great pleasure to announce that two of its members have been honored during the past semester. Brother John E. Babb, was elected President of the Class of 1933 and Brother J. Norman Boiskou was elected to the position of Secre- tary of the Roundtable for the year 1933-1934. The chapter has been particularly fortunate in the election of Brother John K. Monahan, January 4, to the office of "BB". Brother Monahan has been unsparing in the devotion of his time and effort to promoting good times for the chapter. KAPPA BETA PI Alpha Chapter of Kappa Beta Pi held its final rushing party of the year at the home of its Dean, Doris J. Flagg, on March 4, 1933. Pledge services were held at the home of Ethel Gustafson on April 1, 1933, at which time Agnes Barnard, Lucille M. Even, and Emma La Rue were welcomed as future members and re- ceived their pledge pins. After the Pledge Ceremony, Dean Flagg presented the Kappa Beta Pi Scholarship Key for 1932 to Katharyne E. Bauld in recognition of the excellent record which she maintained during her years in law school. The Scholarship Key is presented annually to the Kappa with the best showing in scholastic achievement during her law school career. On March 18, 1933, Alpha Chapter joined the other Chicago Chapters in a pre-convention card party which was given on the Roof Garden at the St. Clair Hotel, and on June 3, 1933, the Chi- cago Chapters of Kappa Beta Pi are again joining in another card party to be given in the Grand Ballroom of the St. Clair Hotel. Alpha Chapter joined the other Chicago Chapters in a joint initiation on May 28, 1933, at a breakfast in the South Room of the Edgewater Beach Hotel. The Chapter takes this opportunity of extending to the new members a hearty and enthusiastic wel- come. Kappa Beta Pi Legal Sorority will hold its Biennial Interna- tional Convention on June 29, 30, and July 1, 1933, with head- UNDERGRADUATE NEWS quarters at the LaSalle Hotel. Alpha Chapter takes this op- portunity of extending to every Kappa a cordial invitation to participate in the festivities. We look forward with keen an- ticipation to welcoming the members of Kappa Beta Pi to Chi- cago because, not only is it World's Fair Year in Chicago, but it is also the twenty-fifth anniversary of the founding of the first legal sorority. Alpha feels that it can be justly proud of the international organization which on December 15. 1908, was formed by ten girls who were members of the freshman, junior and senior classes at Chicago-Kent College of Law. Kappa Beta Pi at the present time has forty-five chapters in law schools throughout the world, and eight alumni chapters and covers twen- ty-three states and the District of Columbia and two foreign countries. The members of Alpha Chapter wish to thank Miss Scheiner for her kind co-operation in furnishing the cut of the College and the Historical information about Chicago-Kent which appeared in the March Number of the Kappa Beta Pi Quarterly. Nu BETA EPSILON We are happy to announce that Irving Golden and Maurice S. Slate have passed bar examination. Sigmund Lazarus and Jack Green will be graduated this June, and will take the July Bar Examination. David Ginspark and Harold Fink have been initiated during the current semester. With the coming of spring we have included in our activities a Sunday morning ball game which has been regularly attended. We have challenged Alpha Sigma Iota to a debate which will be held on June 18, 1933. .

Flavin, Assistant Attorney General of the State of Illinois, in the Cook County Inheritance Tax Office, was the guest speaker at the meeting of Round Table on March 7, 1931. The scope and operation of the Illinois Inheritance Tax Law was the subject of Mr. Flavin's address. Some of the problems involved were illustrated by citing of prominent cases, such as the estates of Marshall Field and Nellie Fowler McCormick.0 Since the day following the meeting was the birthday of Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, the members of Round Table sent him the following telegram of congratu- lations: The Round Table of the Chicago-Kent College of Law, repre- senting honor students of this school, which has given to the bar of Chicago many of its leading members, wishes to join with the people of our country, on the observance of his nine- tieth birthday anniversary, in congratulating an eminent jurist whose clear thinking has been a beacon through the maze of law, ever guiding the bench, the Bar and the justice-loving people of our nation.
