NATIONAL CONSTITUTION CENTER TEAMS UP WITH CHANNEL ONE NEWS TO BRING CONSTITUTION DAY PROGRAM TO MORE THAN SIX MILLION STUDENTS NATIONWIDE

Sandra Day O’Connor Will Introduce the Segment Available Through Channel One Connection, an Educational Resource

Philadelphia, PA (September 2, 2010) – The National Constitution Center announced today a collaboration with Channel One News , the leading news network for teens, that will bring a Constitution Day program, Constitution Hall Pass , to more than six million students across the country on September 17, 2010, through the network’s Channel One Connection program and via its daily news broadcast. Constitution Hall Pass will feature an introduction by former Supreme Court Justice and Trustee of the Center Sandra Day O’Connor , and teaches students about the importance of the U.S. Constitution, while escorting them on a staff-led virtual tour of the Center’s Signers’ Hall , an iconic interpretation of the Assembly Room where the signers of the Constitution met.

During Constitution Hall Pass , Sandra Day O’Connor will introduce the session with a message to student viewers about the creation of the Constitution and its relevance today. Then, the Center’s education staff will bring the Constitution to life for students by detailing the stories of the Founding Fathers and explaining the controversies and compromises that resulted in our nation’s founding document. Channel One News will provide a 15-minute version of the virtual tour, featuring the introduction by Sandra Day O’Connor, for classroom use via Channel One Connection, a commercial-free educational programming resource available to member schools, and will also feature a segment on the Constitution during its daily broadcast. Additionally, information about Constitution Hall Pass , along with supplementary educational resources focused on Constitution Day, will be available on Channel One’s award-winning website at www.ChannelOne.com . -MORE-
