INTRODUCTION: It is not possible for each and every citizen to visit different states of India to see their culture and traditions. In Maharashtra, almost all kind of religious diversity are found like Gujrat, South India, Paris and many more. Like every state has it’s speciality, similar Maharashtra has too. When we talk about Maharashtra how can we forget about Maharashtrian people. MAHARASHTRIAN CULTURE: Hindu Marathi people celebrate several festivals during the year. These include Gudi Padwa, Ram Navami, Hanuman Jayanti, Narali Pournima, Mangala Gaur, Janmashtami, Ganeshotsav, Kojagiri Purnima, Makar Sankranti, Diwali, Khandoba Festival, Shivaratri and Holi. Maharashtra had huge influence over India under the 17th-century king Shivaji of the Maratha Empire and his concept of Hindavi Swarajya which translates to self-rule of people. It also has a long history of Marathi saints of Varakari religious movement such as Dnyaneshwar , Namdev , Chokhamela, Eknath and Tukaram which forms the one of bases of the culture of Maharashtra or Marathi culture. FAMOUS FESTIVALS OF MAHARASHTRA: 1. NAG PANCHAMI- Nag Panchali is celebrated in the honour of the Snake God Shesha Nag on the fifth day of the holy month of Shravan. 2. GUDI PADWA- Gudi Padwa is a symbol of victory, characterized by a bamboo stick with a silk cloth. It is garlanded with flowers and has sweets offered to it. 3. The wide variety of festivals celebrated in India is a true manifestation of it’s rich culture and traditions. Virtually celebrating each day of the year, there are more festivals celebrated in India than anywhere else in the world. Each festival pertains to different occasions, some welcome the seasons of the year, the harvest, the rains, or the full moon. Others celebrate religious occasions, the birthdays of divine beings and saints, or the advent of the New Year. A number of these festivals are common to most parts of India. Place of Mahaparayan Maha-recital of Shri-Sai Satcharita at Mumbai It is fascinating to observe the growth of certain places that has an immense significance for the Sai-Devotees, today. The land on which Samadhi Mandirat Shirdi stands, was once upon a time a cactus jungle and was used as a dumping ground. Similarly the location in Mumbai where Maha Recital of Shri - Sai Satcharita was organized recently, was also created out of a dump yard. Thanks to numerous selfless and hard working Sai-Devotees. The triangular piece of land near Canara Bank at Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai was nothing but a thick jungle with marshy land when Sai Sansthan Managing Committee had visited it some years ago. The unhygienic environment filled with a foul smell was an assault on one senses and sensibilities. However in due course of time under the expert guidance of Shri Nitin Desai, a renowned art-director from Indian Film industry, the dark dungeon was transformed into a divine den .Parayandarshan and refreshment pavilions were erected. A special tent was set up for reciter's residence. Huge idols of god- goddesses were installed on the wooden platforms . Finally on 15th December the 'Parayandham' was ready to welcome all .By observing this one can not but agree with the adage that something good originates from ashes and rough stones give birth to a beautiful sculpture. Thus this place like Lendibaug in Shirdi provided bread and butter to many. The main gate reminding one about the glory of ancient palaces of India. Two statues of elephants that almost looked real , welcomed the visitors.

Page 1 of 9 Introduction It is surprising to note that Lord Krishna’s life represents the average person of today. Brought up in a lower middle class family, the small boy spends his entire time in his studies under very trying circumstances. Higher studies take him to the cities and even overseas. His circumstances change totally when he converts his Knowledge into Experience. Experience takes him to corridors of Power which, again, lands him in a completely different atmosphere. His later days don’t even remotely resemble his childhood days. He could hardly return to his native village which was his dwelling place as a child. Finally, he leaves the world as a loner in yet another totally different atmosphere. Lord Krishna’s life exactly corresponds to such a life of an average person today in spite of the fact that 5000 years have elapsed since his appearance on this planet. He was brought up in a cowherd’s family as a child.
