“SHH… BE CAREFUL. THE SAFETY GUY IS COMING TO CHECK AND SPY ON US”

“Oh no, here comes trouble”. “The messenger of inconvenience is upon us!” These are just some of the phrases that most people commonly associate with HSE personnel, especially so when we get to site or vessels. Considering this kind of negative attitude towards the HSE department and its personnel, I decided to make it a personal goal when I boarded the Volantis to see if such attitude really exists and what I can do to make a difference.

As I attended the compulsory drug and alcohol test prior to boarding the crew board for transfer to the Volantis, I began to wonder if I can accomplish this personal goal that I set myself.

When I completed the transfer from the crew boat to the Volantis, I was greeted very warmly by the Marine Crew as well as the DeepOcean Crew. To this I was very pleasantly surprised as it immediately eased my pre-misconceptions that I may This is the usual crew boat that is designed for Well the sign say it all as signs such as this, prompted have had earlier during the day. transfer of personnel to the Volantis at site. DeepOcean carried out several tasks such as the installation of Suction Piles Subsea and Touchdown Monitoring of the 8” & 10” pipeline. Being on board the Volantis really opened my eyes on how safety actually performs on paper and onsite.

When it comes to health, I will happily dive into food and fitness. Seamen from past will tell you horror stories about meatballs so tough that they bounced off the wall when thrown and etc. These days, food served on the Volantis comes in a wide The pictures above show the Volantis ‘stalking’ the GL1201 when the Volantis is carrying out subsea touchdown variety to satisfy taste buds of many. monitoring of the 8” pipeline.
