Kyoto Summer Program Die Kyoto University (Kyoto, Japan) bietet für 4 Heidelberger Studierende einen Gebührenerlass zur Teilnahme am „Kyoto Summer Program“. Für interessierte Studierende eröffnet sich die Möglichkeit einer Einführung in die japanische Kultur sowie Gesellschaft, Wirtschaft und Politik. Darüberhinaus gibt es die Gelegenheit die japanische Sprache zu lernen. Das Programm findet im Zeitraum 29. Juli bis 11. August 2021 online statt. Studierende der Universität Heidelberg können sich um einen der vier Plätze über das Dezernat Internationale Beziehungen bewerben. Voraussetzungen: Studierende sollten sich zum Zeitpunkt der Bewerbung mindestens im 3. Fachsemester befinden; gute Englischkenntnisse Bewerbungsschluss: 19. Call for Application “Kyoto Summer Program” at Kyoto University, July 29- August 11, 2021 Dear Partners, We are currently accepting applications for the “2021 Kyoto Summer Program” at Kyoto University. In the program, participants will benefit from not only the scholarly excellence at Kyoto University, but also close interactions with a range of students from various countries, including local students. The program is traditionally held in Kyoto. However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 program will be held online during July 29 - August 11, 2021. 【Schedule】 Preparation (network check) * Jul 29 (Thu) Lectures and activities Jul 30 (Fri)- Aug 11 (Wed) *On July 29, participants should attend one of the briefing sessions to check their internet condition. The details will be announced later. Deadline for Applications: JST 11:59pm, June 4 (Fri), 2021 (JST=Japan Standard Time) 【Program Schedule】 This year’s program will be provided in two shifts (A and B) for the convenience of participants joining online from different time zones. Both shifts consist of an orientation, Kyoto University introduction, Japanese language classes, cultural experience, discussion session, final presentation and completion ceremony. Participants will be assigned to one of the shifts by Kyoto University, taking into account the time difference and other factors. For Academic lectures, participants will be asked to choose at least 5 out of 10 lectures, which are not provided in shifts. Please refer to the “Flyer_2021summer” for the details about the shifts and schedule. 1 / 3 *Please be aware that Japanese language class schedules may be partially changed to “Makeup Japanese language classes may be offered” on the above timetable. 【Your shift】 The shift for participants from Heidelberg University -----> Shift B Notes: (1) If any participant would like to attend another shift, please let us know at the time of application. (2) Participants need to be able to attend 80% of the whole program on a real time basis. (3) As it is mentioned in (2), in principle, participants should attend lectures online in real time. For those who are unable to attend in real time due to unavoidable reasons, such as a conflict with regular classes at the participant’s home university, we are planning to provide materials of real time lectures (such as handouts, lecture slides, and/or recordings of live sessions). Please also inform us in advance if you will be unable to attend in real time. (4) The registration form for academic lectures will be distributed in June. 【Number of Students】 A maximum of 4 outstanding students from Heidelberg University will be accepted for this program. We are seeking students from a wide range of majors and therefore accept applications from students from any department. 【Required Documents to Apply】 1. A completed application form (Application form should be typed except for signature portion, hand- writing is not accepted.) 2. Passport copy (copy of the page that contains personal details including name, nationality, photo, and date of expiry. If an applicant does not possess a passport, please send us an alternative identification.) 【Eligibility requirements】 Good understanding of lectures taught in English Excellent academic performance Japanese language proficiency requirements: NONE 【Preferable candidates】 Students who have never been to Japan Students who have never studied Japanese language Students whose major is not Japanese or Japanese studies Undergraduate students Preference will be given to students from Germany, but international students studying at your university may also apply. 【Fees】 ◇ No tuition fees are required. ◇ Participants need to prepare their own internet access and a device such as a personal computer, a tablet, or a smartphone for participating in online classes.
