I continue to read and am mighty partial, not to the superhero books, but to the graphic editions that draw from and create true science fiction. Mystery In Space, Weird Science, Weird Fantasy, Journey Into the Unknown, Planet Comics, Tales of Suspense, Out of this World, Unknown Worlds, the Buck Rogers.Flash Gordon and Brick Bradford newspaper comic strips, even in the name of all that has crumbled, Magnus Robot Fighter. The incomplete list does not even begin to contemplate any modern comic book attempts at SF. People ask me, “How do you find time to read?”As if that was a legitimate question. I answer, “How is it that you can’t find the time? Are you standing in a supermarket line, eating breakfast, waiting for the movie to begin, riding on the bus, sitting in your backyard, taking the dog for a stroll, mowing the lawn?” I do get a few peculiar looks while intent on the EC work of Wally Wood, Johnie Craig and Al Feldstein as I peddle the hamster running machine at the gym.

    The PhiladelphiaTribune and the Persistence of Black Republicanism during the Great Depression Charles Pete Banner-Haley Colgate University Histories of the Great Depression of the 1930s appeared frequently in the 1970s and 1980s. More were cast in a social historical framework and centered on similar burdens shared by different groups of Americans. These studies have particularly looked at the social effectiveness of the New Deal in various cities or the impact of the Depression on excluded groups, particularly African Americans.' This essay looks at one influential black man in the 1930s as a member of various institutions which involved a diverse black middle class. Eugene Washington Rhodes, editor and publisher of The PhiladelphiaTribune, wielded considerable influence within Philadelphia's African American community, the Republican party, and Philadelphia's local politics. (Rhodes was elected Pennsylvania's Assistant Attorney General in 1939, but returned after his term in office to edit the paper until the early 1960s.) By observing his career and newspaper we can chart how the underlying conservatism of Philadelphia's black middle class broke down as more and more African Americans turned towards the liberal ideology encouraged by Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal. Other historians, notably Vincent P. Franklin, have placed Rhodes and The PhiladelphiaTribune squarely within the racial ideology that continued to be a strong force in the thirties. My objective here is not to undermine that work but rather to enhance it by examining different perspectives that some of those in the black middle class took during the Depression era.2 Economic hardship arrived at black Philadelphia's doorstep long before the Depression of 1929.

FDA inspected the firm from January 12, 2015, to January 26, 2015. FDA investigators were accompanied by Ohio state investigators for two days. A redacted copy of a Form FDA 483 that documents our investigators' observations from the inspection can be found at http://v.,rww. fda. govI downloads/aboutfda/ centersoffi ces/ officeo fglo balre gulatoryoperationsandpolicy/ora /oraelectronicreadingroorn/ucin4330 14.pdf. During the inspection, the FDA investigators reviewed a small sample of records for products compounded by Jungle Jim's Pharmacy and determined, based on this sample, that this firm appears to obtain valid prescriptions for individually-identified patients for the drug products that it compounds and dispenses. In the response to the Form FDA 483, received by FDA on Februa~y 13, 2015, the firm stated that it is "not supplying compounds/drugs to the doctors as office supply and only entertain[s] patient-specific prescription[s] to be dispensed/ship[ped] only to the patients." During the inspection, the FDA investigators observed deviations from appropriate sterile practice standards that, if not corrected, could lead to contamination of drugs, potentially putting patients at risk.
