Formed in 1895 the Council comprised the West Riding parishes that fell within Worksop Poor Law Union viz. North and South Anston, Dinnington, Firbeck, Gildingwells, Harthill with Woodall, Letwell, Thorpe Salvin, Throapham, Todwick, Wales and Woodsetts. In 1974 the R.D.C. was absorbed into Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.
