Math

Beginner: • Practice counting, adding, and pattern recognition with candy corn. • Use candy corn to understand “greater than” and “less than” numbers. • Gather your pumpkins and learn how to measure height, weight, and circumference.

Intermediate: • What’s your favorite candy flavor? Calculate your chances of picking it out of the box. • Have some engineering fun with jelly beans! Build 3D structures and introduce your child to geometric shapes. • Gather your treats and study fractions. Quick, before you eat them all!

Advanced: • Locate these coordinates on a graph, and get a spooky surprise! • Use candy hearts (or any sweets you have) to calculate probability, averages, percentages, and more. • Weigh (or estimate the weight) of all your candy — convert the number to grams, ounces, kilograms, and pounds.

Imagination Play: • Collect and count your Halloween treats. If you eat three a day, how many days would it take to finish them all? • If you wanted your candy to last a year, how slowly would you have to eat?
