E-mail : [email protected] Résumé Les collections du Musée de Gaillac renferment un important fond de fossiles provenant du Jurassique de Normandie. Ceux-ci furent recueillis à la fin du 19ème siècle par le Dr. Philadelphe Thomas profitant de ses bonnes relations avec le paléontologue normand Eugène Eudes-Deslongchamps. On y trouve en particulier un important lot de Brachiopodes déterminés et étiquetés par cet éminent spécialiste des Brachiopodes jurassiques. La disparition de la collection originale du Musée de Caen sous les bombes des alliés en 1944 en fait toute la valeur car les collections du Musée de Gaillac renferment un certain nombre de topotypes (ou néotypes) éventuels. La présente publication donne une brève description des espèces de Brachiopodes jurassiques conservées à Gaillac. Ces descriptions sont précédées d’une synonymie précisant la diagnose originale de chaque espèce, ainsi que la référence à une récente publication, ce qui permet au lecteur de retrouver toutes les données relatives à ces espèces (variabilité morphologique, caractères internes, âges et répartitions géographiques, principales figurations par les auteurs successifs). -

Rhynchonellide brachiopods, with more than 500 extinct genera but only 19 extant genera represented today, provide an opportunity to explore the factors that produce contentious phylogenetic signal across datasets, as previous phylogenetic hypotheses generated from molecular sequence data bear little agreement with those constructed using morphological characters. -

New Barremian Rhynchonellide Brachiopod from Serbia and The
New Barremian rhynchonellide brachiopod genus from Serbia and the shell microstructure of Tetrarhynchiidae BARBARA RADULOVIĆ, NEDA MOTCHUROVA−DEKOVA, and VLADAN RADULOVIĆ Radulović, B., Motchurova−Dekova, N., and Radulović, V. 2007. New Barremian rhynchonellide brachiopod from Ser− bia and the shell microstructure of Tetrarhynchiidae. Acta Palaeontologica Polonica 52 (4): 761–782. A new rhynchonellide brachiopod genus Antulanella is erected based on the examination of the external and internal morphologies and shell microstructure of “Rhynchonella pancici”, a common species in the Barremian shallow−water limestones of the Carpatho−Balkanides of eastern Serbia. The new genus is assigned to the subfamily Viarhynchiinae, family Tetrarhynchiidae. The shell of Antulanella is small to rarely medium−sized, subglobose, subcircular, fully costate, with hypothyrid rimmed foramen. The dorsal euseptoidum is much reduced. The dental plates are thin, ventrally diver− gent. The hinge plates are straight to ventrally convex. The crura possess widened distal ends, rarely raduliform or canaliform. The shell is composed of two calcitic layers. The secondary layer is fine fibrous, homogeneous built up of predominantly anisometric anvil−like fibres. Although data on the shell microstructure of post−Palaeozoic rhyncho− nellides are still incomplete, it is possible to distinguish two types of secondary layer: (i) fine fibrous typical of the superfamilies Rhynchonelloidea and Hemithiridoidea and (ii) coarse fibrous typical of the superfamilies Pugnacoidea, Wellerelloidea, and Norelloidea. The new genus Antulanella has a fine fibrous microstructure of the secondary layer, which is consistent with its allocation in the Hemithiridoidea. Antulanella pancici occurs in association with other brachi− opods showing strong Peritethyan affinity and close resemblance to the Jura fauna (= Subtethyan fauna). -

Abstract. Brachiopods are one of the most widespread fossil groups among the Late Cretaceous macrofauna in Northern Bulgaria. This article is the first from a series of palaeontological descriptions of the Rhynchonellida representatives. The results from detailed taxonomic studies of seven species of the genus Cyclothyris M'Coy from the Cenomanian, Santonian and Campanian are presented. -

Previous identif ications are revised and original descriptions supplemented with internal-structural description for two species of the genus KaTadagithyris, one of Dictyothyropsis, and one of ZitteZina. INTRODUCTION The hrachiiopod fauna of Pie.n:im.y Klippen Belt was investigated first by Zeusdmer (1846) and Zittel (1870) who ,erected and descriJbed sever al n~, endemic species. Shell internal ' structure off those species has thus far rerru,rlned unknown which induced a need for further collect ing at the type locality and paloontologi'cal reVlisiOlIl of the fauna. The present study of the brachiopods from the Jll'rasSic/Oreiaceous boundary of Pi€'IlJi.ny Klippen Belt started in .1965, at the suggestion of Pro:f)essor K. Birk>enmaj1er. The Castle Klippe at Crorsztyn (Text , -fig. 1) was investigated at first, which ,eX1pOlSuTe yrl:elded a rich brachio pod oolledian Nom the Upper Tithonian ibrachiopod and cr.inoid.-brachio ,pod limestones (cf. Birkenmaj1er 1963, section 18, layeTS 8, 9 and 11, pp. 78 and 146). Thereafter, the world-famous exposm'e at RogoZn~k by Nowy Targ was also sampled. Thus far, the ,following brachiopod genera have been revised and their deScriptions supplemented. (Barczyk 1971, 1972a, b, 1979): Pygope, Antinomia, Nucleata, Camerothyris, Monticlarella, and Lacunosella. -
