Organized 337 events covering exhibitions, trainings, exposure visits, awareness programs and school level events. The differences are noticed in language, cultural practices, socio-economic status and pattern of livelihood. The tribal population in India rapidly increased from 30.1 million in 1961 to 104.3 million in 2011. For same period tribal residing in rural area have increased by three times from 29.4 million to 93.8 million respectively. The tribal population resides in urban area is very less in number due to these people like to live in the remote areas of the proximity of natural environment. In Maharashtra, more than 47 indigenous tribes were dwelling at Sahyadri and Satpuda mountainous ranges. According to 2011 census, there are about 1, 05, 10,213 tribal populations living in Maharashtra, which constitutes 10.05% population of state. In Maharashtra, there is regional disparity in tribal population such as Nandurbar District has the highest tribal concentration while Dhule, Gadchiroli, Nasik, and Ahmednagar District have moderate tribal concentration. Therefore, present research work is an attempt to understand the Spatio-temporal variation in tribal population of Ahmednagar district using GIS technique during the period of 2001-2011.

Abstract Ethnobotanical survey was conducted during 2006-2008 in Akole Taluka of Ahmednagar district in Western Ghats of Maharashtra State. The tribes such as Mahadev Koli, Ramoshi, Thakar and Bhills are dwelling in the study area, apart from other rural people. Information on 40 angiospermic species belonging to 38 genera of 24 families was gathered, as used as an antidote against snakebite by those people. The present paper reports botanical names, family, local names, parts used, preparation and mode of administration. Also a discussion on present data com- pared with already published reports on snakebite is included. Key words : medicinal plants, antidote, Snakebite, tribals, akole 1. LOCATION & GEOGRAPHICAL DATA: Ahmednagar is the largest district of Maharashtra State in respect of area, popularly known as “Nagar”. It is situated in the central part of the State in upper Godavari basin and partly in the Bhima basin and lies between north latitudes 18°19’ and 19°59’ and east longitudes 73°37’ and 75°32’ and falls in parts of Survey of India degree sheets 47 E, 47 I, 47 M, 47 J and 47 N. It is bounded by Nashik district in the north, Aurangabad and Beed districts to the east, Osmanabad and Solapur districts to the south and Pune and Thane districts to the west. The district has a geographical area of 17114 sq. km., which is 5.54% of the total State area. The district is well connected with capital City Mumbai & major cities in Maharashtra by Road and Railway. As per the land use details (2011), the district has an area of 134 sq. km. occupied by forest. The gross cultivable area of district is 15097 sq.km,whereas net area sown is 11463 sq.km.     SEED Mother Rahibai gets Padmshree Rahibai Soma Popere, popularly known as SEED Mother for conserving indigenous seeds who is also associated with BAIF Development Research Foundation, a Core Support Group of Department of Science & Technology (DST), has been conferred fourth highest civilian national award Padma Shree for her contribution in the field of agriculture. She has worked for conserving hundreds of native varieties and encouraging farmers to grow traditional crops. She has also made it a motto of her life to spreading awareness about organic farming, agro-biodiversity, and wild food resources. Popere is a 52-year-old tribal farmer from Mahadeo Koli Tribal community from Komblne village of Akole tribal block in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. She could not attend school due to poverty and started supporting her family in agricultural work in agri labor and cow rearing since she was 10 years old. She got married with Soma Popere, who was also uneducated, at the age of 17 years. The whole family was dependent on agriculture. Although she had not attended school, she learnt about agrobiodiversity, wild food resources, and traditional culture through practice and experience. Through her experiences, she realized that the conservation of agro-biodiversity and wild food resources is the need of the hour to achieve seed sovereignty and nutritional security. She started a nursery of Blackberry and distributed them as a gift to members of the Self-Help Group (SHG). She then established a nursery of hyacinth bean seedlings, rice, vegetables, beans landraces and shared them with 210 farmers in 7 villages of Akole Block.

Various agricultural and governmental facilities available in the study area. Therefore, recently cropping pattern is change and day by day positive increased. Depending on the terrain, topography, slope, soils and availability of water for irrigation. Mostly, eastern part of the study area (Rajur, Samsherpur and Kotul circle) is concentrate in the rice crop because of these areas situated in the hilly and heavy rainfall. Separating grains of rice from husk by pounding and gathering medicinal plants are the small scale industries in study area. Only Akole circle have leading Sugarcane Cultivation and another crop is decreased rank. In case of overall change, the shift from food grains to sugarcane is noteworthy in areas facilities by perennial sources of irrigation. Objectives: 1. To study rice and sugarcane cultivation. 2.
