It will be a World Championship of huge proportions with three host venues, Deer Valley Resort, Park City Mountain and Solitude Mountain Resort, welcoming more than 1,400 athletes from 40 nations. I am sure all participants will enjoy a top-rate championship and that the fans will be treated to 10 memorable days of competition” said FIS Secretary General Sarah Lewis “The 2019 FIS Freestyle, Snowboard and Freeski World Championships are the culmination of years of hard work by a very dedicated group of people who had a dream of bringing the largest winter sports event to Utah since the 2002 Olympic Winter Games,” said Calum Clark, Chief of Systems and Operations for U.S. Ski & Snowboard and 2019 FIS World Champs Organizing Committee Chair. “Solitude Mountain Resort, Park City Mountain and Deer Valley Resort have created the stages upon which world class athletes will be able to chase their own dreams, and in Park City itself, and the state of Utah, we have the perfect platform to put on these terrifically exciting events.” The 28 medal events, 18 skiing and 13 snowboarding include: Freestyle Skiing / Freeski: Snowboard: Aerials (M/L) Parallel Slalom (M/L) Mixed Team Aerials Parallel Giant Slalom (M/L) Moguls (M/L) Big Air (M/L) Dual Moguls (M/L) Slopestyle (M/L) Slopestyle (M/L) Halfpipe (M/L) Halfpipe (M/L) Snowboard Cross (M/L) Ski Cross (M/L) Snowboard Cross Mixed Team Event Big Air (M/L) It will be a packed schedule with multiple medal events taking place on several days with also several night competitions planned. With this being the third time that the Freestyle, Snowboarding and Freeski World Championship have been carried out together after the inaugural edition in Kreischberg (AUT) in 2015 and the last edition in Sierra Nevada in 2017, the mammoth event is becoming a much-anticipated tradition in the FIS calendar. There is joint use by both disciplines of the halfpipe, slopestyle and cross courses, which is very much in the spirit of the IOC’s Olympic Agenda 2020 objectives to implement venue, facility and operational efficiencies and thereby reduce costs. The competitions first medals have already been handed out as yesterday the FIS Snowboard Cross World Championship titles went to XXXXXXX. Today, just prior to the Opening Ceremony, the Ski Cross finals will be staged at Solitude Mountain Resort. Infront Sports & Media, the international media rights holder, indicated that these World Championships will be broadcast in 25 countries. In total, 41 events will be broadcast live including both qualifications and finals. More than 250 media representatives from 16 nations across television, print and online media will be present on site in Utah. Furthermore, live online programing will be available free-of-charge for all races on the FIS Freestyle and Snowboard YouTube channels, for countries where no exclusive media rights agreements are in place. Near live highlights will also be published on the FIS App and FIS Social Media Channels for all medal competitions.
