K. Sarma, presently serving as the Professor & Head in the Department of Surgery & Radiology, College of Veterinary Science Khanapara, Guwahati, Assam. He was Born in Barama, Nalbari, Assam in 1961 and graduated from College of Veterinary Science, Assam Agricultural University, Khanapara, Guwahati in the year 1984, obtained a master's degree in Veterinary Surgery & Radiology in 1986 and Ph.D. in 1994. He has an experience of more than 33 years in teaching and research. He has guided 44 students of MVSc and Ph.D. Dr Kushal Konwar Sarma has been conferred Padma Shri for his outstanding contribution in the field of wildlife treatment and Asian Elephant conservation declared on Republic Day, 2020. Governor of Assam has given him the title of “Elephant Man of Asia”. He attends over 700 elephants in a year for over three decades, has the record 140 subjugation of rogue elephants to his credit, led the vet team in an ambitious rhino translocation program of Assam and UP. He is a recipient of 28 National and International awards including FISVS, FISAPM. He has completed various research projects sanction by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Department of biotechnology as a Principal Investigator and Co-PI. He has published 151 research papers in various national and international journals, published more than 100 popular scientific and wildlife adventure stories and 13 books. He has conducted 19 national and international training programmes, delivered lectures on elephant healthcare, immobilization & surgery, management and welfare, human-elephant conflict, wildlife disaster management, rescue and translocation of wild animals, etc. all over the world. Webinar and online Paper Presentation Competition on “Environmental Protection for Improving Animal and Human Health” Dr. Pravin H Vataliya, Director of Extension Education and Ex. Vice Chancellor, Kamdhenu University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat Dr. Pravin H Vataliya was born on 1 November 1959 has earned his primary education in Bhavnagar district and has completed his BVSC & AH from CoVSc & AH at Gujarat Agricultural University, Anand in 1983. He completed his MVSc in Animal Genetics & Breeding in 1987 from the same College. Dr. Vataliya obtained his Doctorate in Animal Genetics & Breeding from Gujarat Agricultural University in 1994 from Sardar Krushinagar. He has started his professional career as Veterinary Officer in 1983 at Poultry Complex, Dept. of AGB, Veterinary College, Anand in an ICAR Ad HOC Research Scheme “Development of Random Bred Control Population of Layer Type Chicken” and earned him Best Research Award from Gujarat Association of Agricultural Scientists, Ahmedabad for the year 1987-88. He was selected as Assistant Professor in 1987, as Associate professor in 1994 and became professor in 2002 in AGB. He has served as Head of the Department of AGB at Veterinary College, Anand and Junagadh. He has also served as Research Scientist & Head of Poultry Complex, Anand and Cattle Breeding farm, Junagadh, as in- charge Principal & Dean, Veterinary College, JAU, Junagadh during 2012-13. He was bestowed with best Teacher Award in Veterinary Science Faculty at Junagadh Agricultural University for the year 2011-12. He was deputed to Kamdhenu University from Junagadh Agricultural University and assumed the Charge of Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science at Kamdhenu University in November 2014 and currently Director of Extension Education at Kamdhenu University, Gandhinagar. He has to his credit 44 Research Projects and other schemes in a career spanning 35 years. He has guided 18 PG students in AGB and Animal Biotechnology and presently guiding one Ph. D student in AGB. He has characterized cattle, buffalo, sheep and Goat breeds of Gujarat and Genetic Polymorphism studies for prolactin, growth hormone, FSH & Progesterone Hormone receptor genes, TLR genes etc. He has several publications including international publications and has delivered talks at several national seminars and symposia, trainings and workshops. He has also organized national and state level seminars, workshops and trainings etc. At Kamdhenu University, Dr. Vataliya has played pivotal role in preparation of Regulations of affiliations of Polytechnics and colleges to Kamdhenu University as well as Academic regulations of the University. Webinar and online Paper Presentation Competition on “Environmental Protection for Improving Animal and Human Health” GUIDELINES FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS (TECHNICAL SESSION I) 1. Onlythose participant show have registered in advance shall be allowed to present their paper. 2. A full length paper not more thean pages with dony size 12, Times New Roman and duble specing should be sent at [email protected]. 3. Last Date for acceptance of paper and registration is 18:00 hours 27th May, 2020. 4. Ten students shall be allowed to make the presentation, In case the number of participants is more, preliminary screening shall take place by an expert committee. 5. Undergraduate Students can seek help of post graduate students and faculty members. 6. The paper must adhere to theme of the event. Only three authors including the presenting author shall be allowed per paper. 7. The presentation shall be made via power point slides. 8. Three minutes shall be allotted per presentation with maximum of 10 slides. 9. Each session will have one moderator to run the session. FOR POST GRADUATE STUDENTS (TECHNICAL SESSION II) 1. The participant should be a registered or a passed out student of the Host University. 2. The student shall present his research work related to theme of the event. 3. There is no restriction to number of authors in case ofPG students A brief discussion of 1-2 minutes can be followed after presentation if found necessary by chairman of the session.
