H. Kelawala students in Animal Husbandry (2018-19). Vice Chancellor Kamdhenu University, There is considerable demand of the specialized human resource in Animal Husbandry sector, Gandhinagar hence, Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry is offering 3 years Diploma in Animal Husbandry. The dedicated and experienced faculties are broadening the horizon of students by surpassing the boundaries and expanding their foresight to groom young minds, nurturing with care and guiding to excel in the area of their potential and choice. These institutes owns highly qualified, experienced and trained faculty along with the supporting staff to cater the need of students. We take the task of student's career development as a challenge to us and ensure that the students get best of all the facilities. Our students are fully equipped to take on the modern day challenges in today's Animal Husbandry sector and add value to the organizations they join. Kelawala) MESSAGE The animal husbandry sector plays an important role in livelihood of large mass of farmers including land less labourers. However, due to lack of resources and adequate scientific knowledge the animal owners are not in a position to exploit the full potential of their livestock. To assist the veterinarians in the field, the Dr. D. B. Patil necessity of highly skilled para veterinary staff has emerged. Keeping this in view,Kamdhenu University has Director of Research and started a unique three year's residential educational programme i.e. Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry to Dean PG Studies confer “Diploma in Animal husbandry” to successful candidates. Dean, Veterinary Faculty Kamdhenu University, It is a matter of pride that the students of Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry-Khadasali, Riddhi Gandhinagar Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry-Himmatnagar, Keshavam Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry-Chhapi, Navasarjan Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry-Vijapur, GVM Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry-Aniyad (Shahera) and Nobel Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry-Junagadh will be stepping out from its portal very soon and looking out for opportunities to shape their careers. The diploma holders in animal husbandry are trained to take care of milch animals, and know scientific management, hygiene and techniques of artificial insemination (AI) and several aspects of animal production and health improvement. Our teaching pedagogy includes presentations, participation in seminars, sports and cultural activities which also help towards acquiring skills in the holistic improvement of the spiritual, social and emotional quotient of our students. I am sure you will find our students very competent and thus visit us again, year after year. We look forward to a warm and enduring relationship. Patil) MESSAGE I am pleased that the placement cell of our university is bringing out a placement brochure for the outgoing batches of students of Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry, Kamdhenu University. Prof (Dr) P. H. Vataliya Over the course of time animal husbandry is transforming from livelihood framing to commercial Director of business opportunity. A number of innovations and technological inputs have expanded the scope of Extension Education Kamdhenu University, animal husbandry further from “a way of life” to an excellent commercial enterprise. It paved a way for Gandhinagar requirement of a number of professionals in this sector at different levels of knowledge and skills. Recognizing this emerging need Kamdhenu University has offered three years Diploma in Animal Husbandry programme at different polytechnics under this University. The polytechnics has highly qualified, experienced and trained faculty along with the supporting staff to cater the need of skilling the students. We are proud to have very curious, ingenious and enthusiastic group of students who are fully equipped to take day to day challenges in animal husbandry sector and would definitely add value to the organization they will join. Vataliya) KAMDHENU UNIVERSITY, GANDHINAGAR Kamdhenu University has been established by the Government of Gujarat vide Gujarat Act No.9 of 2009 which is referred to as "the Kamdhenu University Act, 2009". The Act was assented to by Hon'ble Governor of Gujarat on 7th July, 2009. The University is established and incorporated by the state Government as teaching and affiliated University for the development of Veterinary and Animal Sciences and for furthering the advancement of learning, conducting of research and dissemination of findings of research and other technical information in Veterinary and Animal Sciences including Dairy, Fisheries and allied sciences in the State of Gujarat. A peep in the past An Idea of a Veterinary and Dairy University in Gujarat was first mooted in 1984 by late Dr. Varghese Kurien, Father of White Revolution in the country. He proposed a University of Dairy and Animal Science (UDAS), but before it takes a shape, Dr. Kurien who was the Vice- Chancellor of Gujarat Agricultural University resigned from the post. Again a proposal was floated by Government of Gujarat to established Veterinary University in 1996-97 and an ordinance was also promulgated. This ordinance died without any action. Thereafter in 2009, with the blessings of Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi the Kamdhenu University Act was passed by the State Legislative Assembly. Thus, a new era of research and education in veterinary and allied sciences including dairy and fisheries has begin. Subsequently Affiliations were given by the University to 7 different polytechnics in Gujarat. These polytechnics were established with an aim to prepare livestock inspectors to provide support to the field Veterinarians as well as to provide primary veterinary services to the animal owners in remote villages. The other Agricultural Universities of Gujarat also started the Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry on the lines of Kamdhenu University. The Polytechnics offers
