We justify this procrastination by thinking that if something were really crucial, we SPOTLIGHT could rise to the occasion - certainly if our careers or lives depended on it. Yet, from this week’s Parsha, we see that this is not so. “ואת כל העדה הקהילו באחד לחדש השני“ ,D'VAR HALACHA The Pasuk states Moshe gathered all of Klal Yisroel on the first of the second month. Why was it THIS WEEK necessary to tell us when Moshe gathered Klal Yisroel? Rabbeinu Yona derives from IN PICTURES here that Moshe possessed great alacrity and diligence in his performance of Mitzvos. Hashem instructed Moshe to perform the census on the first of the second month, and, PARSHA TEASER indeed, he immediately gathered Klal Yisroel on the very same day. The question arises: Wouldn’t any of us, even people who do not possess Shleimus in THE VAAD: the Middah of Zrizus, comply with the direct command of Hashem to conduct a YEAR IN REVIEW census? Why is this act such a great illustration and demonstration of Moshe’s alacrity? WEEKLY We see from here that had Moshe not been a total and complete master in Zrizus, he PUZZLER would never have gathered Klal Yisroel on the very same day he was commanded to ON THE begin the census. His laziness would have caused him to rationalize some reason why he could, or even should, delay. LIGHTER SIDE... Rabbeinu Yona cites additional illustrations of Moshe’s great alacrity: running from MIND BLOWING Paroah, checking for onlookers before killing the Mitzri, etc… FACTS Without Moshe’s great Shleimus in the Middah of Zrizus, he would not have been able CANDLE LIGHTING: to muster the necessary diligence even though his very life depended on it. 7:41 How many times do we see criminals who are “sloppy”, students who make “careless” errors, or people who are too “lazy” to follow medical advice to keep them healthy? HAVE A GREAT Hashem gives us time in this world to perfect our character. Let us use the opportunity SHABBOS! before Shavuos to be Mekabel the Torah with all of its’ Middos. We must use this precious time now and not delay until tomorrow! Good Shabbos. The reason I requested this specific shampoo is because I noticed that this soap comes a bit quicker than other brands, and the sooner I finish rinsing off the soap, the sooner I can go back to learning.” Especially during this time, as we near we should try to appreciate both the gift that Hashem gave us which is the Torah as well as the ,קבלת התורה importance and impact of every second of learning. "THE VAAD" Year In Review By Akiva Neuhaus - 12th Grade Every Sunday night there is a Vaad for the high school talmidim at DACHS. Under the auspices of Rabbi Yitzchok Schlissel, each week boys come from all over town during their free time to listen to an inspiring speech by one of the many rabbeim in the Yeshiva. Speakers have included our three Rosh HaYeshivas, Rabbi Binyomin Luban, Rabbi Yisroel Niman, and Rabbi Mordechai Palgon; our Beis Midrash Rabbeim Rabbi Aryeh Winter and Rabbi Yaakov Kier; and many Rabbeim from our high school and middle school divisions. Topics have included priorities in life, consistency in life, and the importance of learning and appreciating Torah. There has been plenty of food supplied, including sushi, chicken fingers, homemade cookies, and assorted snacks and drinks. Special thanks to Rabbi Schlissel for running this amazing program! There are still a few more Vaadim left. All those who have not yet joined us are strongly encouraged to attend! DR. ABE CHAMES HIGH SCHOOL · 1025 NE MIAMI GARDENS DR.
