BYLAW NO. 4.04

BEING A BYLAW TO ESTABLISH THE NUMBER OF COUNCILLORS TO BE ELECTED TO SERVE ON YELLOWHEAD COUNTY COUNCIL AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE ELECTION OF THE CHIEF ELECTED OFFICIAL BY THE ELECTORS OF THE COUNTY

WHEREAS, the Council for Yellowhead County wishes to adjust the electoral boundaries of Yellowhead County Council and ensure that the population distribution amongst the wards is consistent (see Schedule "A" attached);

AND WHEREAS, the Council for Yellowhead County wishes to change the electoral structure of Council from ten (10) wards and an appointed Chief Elected Official to eight (8) wards and an elected Chief Elected Official;

AND WHEREAS, the Council for Yellowhead County wishes to enact this bylaw to be in effect for the October, 2004 municipal general election;

AND WHEREAS, Sections 148 and 150 of the Municipal Government Act, Being Chapter M- 26, R.S.A., 2000, provides that a Council may by bylaw change the wards and provide for a chief elected official elected by the electors of the municipality;

NOW THEREFORE, the Council for Yellowhead County, in the Province of , duly assembled, hereby enacts as follows:

1. For the purposes of the October 2004 general municipal election and thereafter, Yellowhead County Council shall be comprised of a Chief Elected Official and eight (8) councillors with one (1) councillor elected from each ward.

2. The number and boundaries of each of the eight (8) wards shall be as illustrated on the map titled as Schedule "B" and as identified by legal description in Schedule "C", which are attached to and form part of this bylaw and shall exclude any and all incorporated municipalities and Indian Reserves situated therein.

3. The Chief Elected Official of Yellowhead County shall be elected by a vote of the electors of Yellowhead County.

4. The Chief Elected Official for Yellowhead County shall be called the "Reeve". Bylaw No. 4.04 3 Yellowhead County

5. This bylaw repeals Bylaw No. 1.04.

6. This bylaw comes into force at the beginning of the day that it is passed in accordance with Section 189 of the Municipal Government Act, Being Chapter M-26, R.S.A., 2000.
