One of the UK’s most exciting cycling events is returning to the Midlands on Sunday 21 June 2020. 17,000 cyclists of all abilities will be taking on the 100-mile challenge on traffic-free roads, many of whom will be fundraising for charity. The one-day extravaganza promises to bring a truly spectacular celebration of cycling, so why not spectate and cheer on the riders taking on the challenge!

PLEASE PLAN AHEAD – HOW WILL YOU BE AFFECTED? Due to the number of riders participating in Vélo Birmingham & Midlands, it will be necessary to implement road closures across the full event route to ensure the safety of riders and the general public. This could impact your local travel arrangements on Sunday 21 June, including public transport. Where possible, we recommend planning travel ahead. You can find more information about the road closures, including an interactive map of the route, on the Vélo website at www.velobirmingham.com. This will be updated regularly in the lead up to the event to feature key travel advice and local access routes. On the day of the event, the easiest way to navigate around the road closures will be to use google maps or a live update GPS as the route and road closures will be updated live. Should you need to travel on the day, please consider the best mode of transport, departure time and route to avoid the road closures.

GET INVOLVED! Volunteer: An event of this scale wouldn’t be possible without an army of amazing volunteers. Register your interest via the link on our website or contact [email protected]. if you’d like to be involved during the event weekend. Take part: It’s not too late to saddle up and get involved! All abilities are welcome… and lycra isn’t compulsory! Please email [email protected] for more information.

CONTACT US If you need any assistance ahead of the event with planned travel or other questions, please get in touch with the Vélo team as early as possible on [email protected]. On the day of the event, in the case of a personal emergency, the event organisers can assist on 0121 396 1296.

DROP-IN SESSIONS FOR LOCAL BUSINESSES

We are pleased to announce that Hub 109 will be hosting regular free drop in sessions to give local businesses a chance to meet the team and talk directly about any business issues they face.

These sessions are informal and are being run to find out what the needs and wants of local businesses are, and how we can help. Whether you need a free business consultation or advice and support with business plans feel free to pop in and discuss. The Erdington BID will also be on hand with help to promote your business.

We are also happy to help with the following;

• Bid, tender and funding support that is available for SME’s • Provide advice on Business Rates • Marketing support • Digital Transformation for your business

In addition to creating a forum for discussion, we plan to introduce themed activities at future sessions such as workshops and talks from business leaders. We’re very conscious of the need to ensure good communication with the businesses locally as well as with other stakeholders and members of the public. We plan to achieve that through our drop-in sessions and advice, and we hope business owners will take the chance to come along and chat about how we can work together to support local business.

The Sessions will be held on third Friday of every month between 2pm-4pm with the next one on Friday 20th March 2020. After that we will run the drop-in sessions on these dates; Friday, 17th April 2020, 14:00 – 16:00 Friday, 15th May 2020, 14:00 – 16:00 Friday, 19th Jun 2020, 14:00 – 16:00 Friday, 17th July 2020, 14:00 – 16:00
