  • Independence Day: Resurgence
INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE (2016) ● Rated PG 13 for sequences of sci fi action and destruction, and for some language ● $165,000,000 budget ● 2 hrs ● Directed by Roland Emmerich ● Produced by Lynn Harris, Matti Leshem, Douglas C. Merrifield ● The film was produced by Columbia Pictures, Sony Pictures QUICK THOUGHTS ● Phil Svitek ● Marisa Serafini ● Demetri Panos ● Sara Stretton DEVELOPMENT ● The possibility of a sequel to Independence Day had long been discussed, and the film's producer and writer, Dean Devlin, once stated that the world's reaction to the September 11 attacks influenced him to strongly consider making a sequel to the film ● Soon after the success of the first film, 20th Century Fox paid Dean Devlin a large sum of money to write a script for a sequel. However, after completing the script, Devlin didn't turn in the script and instead gave the money back to the studio, as he felt the story didn't live up to the first film. It was only approximately 15 years later, that Devlin met up with Roland Emmerich to try again, having felt that they had "cracked" a story for a sequel ● Devlin began writing an outline for a script with Emmerich, but in May 2004, Emmerich said he and Devlin had attempted to "figure out a way how to continue the story", but that this ultimately did not work, and the pair abandoned the idea ● In October 2009, Emmerich said he once again had plans for a sequel, and had since considered the idea of making two sequels to form a trilogy ● On June 24, 2011, Devlin confirmed that he and Emmerich had found an idea for the sequels and had written a treatment for it ● In October 2011, however, discussions for Will Smith returning were halted, due to Fox's refusal to provide the $50 million salary demanded by Smith for the two sequels ● Emmerich, however, made assurances that the films would be shot backtoback, regardless of Smith's involvement ○ Resurgence filmmakers were reported to be preparing versions of the film both with and without Will Smith.

  • Stijl in Fargo
Keywords: Television Style; stylistic analysis, complex tv, character development. 2 Inhoudsopgave Abstract ................................................................................................................................................... 2 1. • Mediate Aftermath of a Date Rape
PRESS KIT LOG LINE A young professional struggles to process what’s happened to her in the immediate aftermath of a date rape. Her trauma is compounded when she reports the assault and discovers that the cops and even her own family don’t believe her. Based on true survivor stories. SYNOPSIS Believe Her is a 13 minute narrative short film that explores why we are inclined not to believe victims of sexual assault. The story, built from true experiences from sexual assault survivors, follows MONICA (Allison Tolman) from the time she is assaulted through her decision not to file a report. As she's interviewed by the police, we see, though a series of flashbacks, that Monica was violently raped at the end of what she thought was a good first date. But as she's questioned, seeds of doubt are sewn: she was wearing something sexy, she'd had a lot to drink, she has a reputation for sleeping around. And as she processes the assault, details are fuzzy. While good intentioned, the cops, her brother, even her best friend call her story into question, forcing her to decide not to prosecute, and instead, internalize her trauma and suffer in secrecy. Believe Her was shot in Brooklyn with an all female crew in October 2017, coincidentally, just two weeks after the Weinstein story broke and launched the #MeToo movement. Filmmaking Team ERIN DOYLE COOPER Director/Writer/EP Erin Doyle Cooper is a writer, director, and creative director, who focuses on telling character-driven stories that foster diversity of thought.

Application PDF Maryland Historical Society Civil Rights Exhibition Request: $50,000.00 Baltimore National Total Match: $50,000.00 Baltimore City PROJECT TITLE: Civil Rights Exhibition PROJECT SUMMARY: The Maryland Historical Society (MdHS) seeks support for the design and fabrication of its major FY21 exhibition focused on African American Civil Rights. The following collections and smaller initiatives that MdHS has presented since 2013 will culminate in this exhibit to tell the larger story about the African American Civil Rights Movement that extends from the Reconstruction Era to the present day: (i) MdHS stewards 6,000 photographs by Paul Henderson, a prominent Afro-American Newspaper photographer. Henderson documented many integral Civil Rights moments from the 1940s to 60s that captured important events, groups, and people, such as the protest at segregated Ford's Theatre in Baltimore, NAACP membership campaign meetings at Sharp Street Church, the Baltimore Elite Giants Negro League baseball team, Morgan State College, Dr. Lillie May Carroll Jackson (head of the NAACP, 1935-1970) and family, Thurgood Marshall with Dr. Carl Murphy (editor-publisher of the Afro-American newspaper), Henderson's photography equipment, and ephemera from his manuscript collection. (ii) Preserve the Baltimore Uprising 2015 Archive Project (PBU) is a digital repository that preserves digital media, including photographs, videos, oral histories, and city documents, created by participants and witnesses to the protests and unrest that followed the death of Freddie Gray on April 19, 2015. MdHS produced a free online resource presenting this media and ensuring that the historical record includes diverse perspectives from people whose lives have been directly impacted by these complex events.

  • HBO: Brand Management and Subscriber Aggregation: 1972-2007
1 HBO: Brand Management and Subscriber Aggregation: 1972-2007 Submitted by Gareth Andrew James to the University of Exeter as a thesis for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in English, January 2011. This thesis is available for Library use on the understanding that it is copyright material and that no quotation from the thesis may be published without proper acknowledgement. I certify that all material in this thesis which is not my own work has been identified and that no material has previously been submitted and approved for the award of a degree by this or any other University. ........................................ 2 Abstract The thesis offers a revised institutional history of US cable network Home Box Office that expands on its under-examined identity as a monthly subscriber service from 1972 to 1994. This is used to better explain extensive discussions of HBO‟s rebranding from 1995 to 2007 around high-quality original content and experimentation with new media platforms. The first half of the thesis particularly expands on HBO‟s origins and early identity as part of publisher Time Inc. from 1972 to 1988, before examining how this affected the network‟s programming strategies as part of global conglomerate Time Warner from 1989 to 1994. Within this, evidence of ongoing processes for aggregating subscribers, or packaging multiple entertainment attractions around stable production cycles, are identified as defining HBO‟s promotion of general monthly value over rivals. Arguing that these specific exhibition and production strategies are glossed over in existing HBO scholarship as a result of an over-valuing of post-1995 examples of „quality‟ television, their ongoing importance to the network‟s contemporary management of its brand across media platforms is mapped over distinctions from rivals to 2007.

Nouse Web Archives TV Review: Fargo Season 1 Episode 1: ‘The Crocodile’s Dilema’ Page 1 of 3 News Comment MUSE. Politics Business Science Sport Roses Freshers Muse › Film & TV › Features Film Reviews TV Reviews Festivals TV Review: Fargo Season 1 Episode 1: ‘The Crocodile’s Dilema’ The opening episode of this crime thriller manages to capture the mood of the original while delivering a new and nail-biting story. Kate Barlow reviews Wednesday 23 April 2014 Rating: ★★★★★ Adapting an Oscar-winning well-loved cult film into a TV show only 18 years after its original release is a risky business. Especially given the fact that said film is directed by no other than the Coen brothers. However, in this grimly compelling crime thriller the high-risk strategy has paid off. Perhaps one of the first things that has to be said about the TV adaptation of Fargo is that it is in no way a remake. Despite the fact that the episode opens in the same way as the film, with a message claiming (falsely) that this is a true story, from here on the entire storyline of the first episode is different. While versions of characters from the film version remain (although their names have been changed) – we see Martin Freeman deliver a version of Jerry Lundegaard to perfection, along with Allison Tolman as an ambitious police detective not dissimilar to Marge Gunderson, truly giving Frances McDormand a run for her money – new characters are also introduced, giving the story a burst of originality. Billy Bob Thornton as the devilish do-what-you-want Lorne Malvo opens the episode, setting the dark broody atmosphere for the rest of the 68 minute runtime (and, hopefully, the rest of the series).
