Agenda of cultural tourist and traditional events in Bucovina

April 1st Collector's Fair - The Suceava branch of the Romanian Coin and Stamp Collector’s Association, invites you to the "Collectors Fair". The gathering will take place in the entry hall of Suceava Culture House on the first Saturday of every month of the year. The next two events will take place on May 6th and June 1st 2006. Free access.

April 28th Village Fest, Liteni All the villages of the Liteni region are under the blessing of 'Izvorul Tamaduirii' (healing spring), and will organise for the first time, this year, the Village Fest. All the events will take place in Poiana Ursului (Bear's Clearing), a beautiful place, which is said to have been frequently visited by Mihail Sadoveanu*. There is an actual spring called ‘The Healing Spring’ that can be found in the Bear's Clearing. Further info: (+40) 745-105-955 * One of the most prolific Romanian historical novelists.

17th-23rd April Librarians National Week, Suceava Throughout this week the I. G. Sbiera Library from Suceava will host exhibitions, symposiums and new book releases. On the 23rd April 'The Librarian Day' shall be celebrated in various places in . Further info (+40) 230520-972 / (+40) 230-530-877

14th -16th of April Traditional Easter Eggs Exhibition, The exhibition will take place in the White Lounge of The 'Platon Pardau' Culture Hall in Vatra Dornei. The complete name of the exhibition is "The Traditional Bucovinean Easter Egg - a synthesis of religious and folk-art in Bucovina. Further info: (+40) 230-372-767

April 14th Book launch, Suceava Bucovina Muzeum Complex will host the launch of an art book, "A century of Fine arts in Bucovina", by the art critic Valentin Ciuca. The volume features works of the most important artists that have been born, raised or have just visited Bucovina. Further info: (+40) 230-216-439

April 30th Pojorata Folk Festival The festival (the third edition) takes place during the "Romanian Soul Treasures" series of events. Included in the event are an exhibition of traditional bucovinean painted eggs, traditional textiles, folk dance and music, traditional food fair and also a festivity for the couples celebrating their Golden Wedding anniversary. 10th-11th April Easter Fair, Suceava The event will consist of religious music concerts, and an exhibition of Easter- specific artwork, crafted by local artists. This 8th edition of the fair is organised by the Bucovina Museum Complex and The District Centre for Conserving and Promoting the Traditional Arts and Culture. Further info: (+40) 230-216-439

1-30 April Technical Exhibition, Suceava The exhibition showcases the evolution of audio equipment through time. On display are the very first recording instruments, gramophones, and old radios which have developed in time to actual DVD and MP3-players. The exhibits come from the own collection of the Bucovina Museum Complex, the Museum of Science and Technology of Iasi and private collections. Further info: (+40) 230-216-439

27th-28th April Royal Courts in Mediaeval Moldova Symposium, Suceava The symposium will hold lectures and debates over the chronological and typological aspects of royal courts in mediaeval Moldova, from both archaeological and architectural perspectives. The debates will start with the most recent archaeological discoveries in Suceava, Harlau and Vaslui. The symposium is hosted by the Bucovina Museum Complex which will also host an exhibition on related themes. Further info: (+40) 230-216-439

1 - 21st April Painting exhibition, Radauti The exhibition is named "Birds and the universe of Childhood" and will take place in the White Lounge of The Bucovina Museum of Traditional Crafts. All summer long A week at grandma's The 7-day program is organised by the local branch of the National Association for Rural, Ecological and Cultural Tourism and consists of specific traditional activities. Tourists will be able to listen to ancient stories, trek, ride bikes through the forest, enjoy a day spent at a traditional Romanian farm, discover traditional food recipes and will also have the opportunity to learn specific crafts from local artists.
