Wildcats Still Accepting Applications for Two Jobs Separator NEIL HODGE TIMES & TRANSCRIPT 29 avril 2017 – Telegraph Journal Wildcats still accepting applications for two jobs separator NEIL HODGE TIMES & TRANSCRIPT Serge Bourgeois lost his job this week as head coach of the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus men’s hockey team. He must decide by Monday’s deadline whether to apply for the position of Wildcats assistant coach. PHOTO: UDEM ATHLETICS The Moncton Wildcats are looking for a new assistant coach and a new hockey operations coordinator. The deadline to apply for both jobs is Monday. There are more than 30 candidates to become assistant coach of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League club. Ten people have applied for hockey operations coordinator, a position that includes goaltending coach and video coach among other hockey management duties. “Obviously, there’s much more interest in the assistant 29 avril 2017 – Telegraph Journal coaching position,” said Wildcats general manager Roger Shannon. “The other job as hockey operations coordinator is quite specific and more limited because you need to have a goaltending background for that job. “The fact that a goaltending background is required narrows down the market for the hockey operations coordinator. It’s like saying you need a computer science degree.” To apply for these positions, visit the job opportunities section on the team’s website (moncton-wildcats.com) and follow the link from there. Shannon said the two jobs will likely be filled in late June and both people will begin work on July 1. The Wildcats won’t confirm anything, but some possible candidates for assistant coach are Josh Hepditch, Ryan Salvis, Serge Bourgeois and Derek Cormier. They’re all New Brunswickers. Hepditch and Salvis are former Wildcats players and both are now head coaches in the Maritime Junior Hockey League. Hepditch was named Coach of the Year this past season with the St. Stephen Aces. Salvis was recently named head coach of the Edmundston Blizzard, who begin play next season. Bourgeois lost his job this week as head coach of the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus men’s hockey team. Cormier is a former Moncton junior A star player who went on to have an outstanding 17-year playing career in top professional leagues in Europe. .

  • Riverview Goalie Brandon Thibeau Commits to Aigles Bleus
18 juin 2014- Times & Transcript Riverview goalie Brandon Thibeau commits to Aigles Bleus › Rookie will start the season as backup to Adrien Lemay sean HatcHard Times & TranscripT The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus have been quiet in this recruiting season but are set in goal for next season. The Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey conference club announced yesterday that Riverview native Brandon Thibeau will join the team in the fall. Aigles Bleus head coach Serge Bourgeois said Thibeau will start the campaign as a backup to incumbent Adrien Lemay. Bourgeois has watched Thibeau perform in net over the years – he played one season for the Dieppe Commandos in the Maritime Junior Hockey League, then had a stint with the Moncton Wildcats in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and spent the last two seasons with the Pictou County Crushers back in the MHL. “We thought he was a really good fit for us. He’s a good goaltender with good size, and I find he stays really, really calm in net, which is something a coach likes,”Bourgeois said last night. “He’s going to need a little bit of time to get used to our league, but I think with some hard work he can be a very good goaltender.” Thibeau, 21, logged big minutes for Pictou County in the past two years. He led the league with 26 wins and sported a 2.72 goals-against average and .917 save percentage in 43 games last season. He will study in sciences and psychology at the Université de Moncton.

  • Aigles Recruiting Class Grows
14 février 2018 – Acadie Nouvelle Aigles recruiting class grows SEAN HATCHARD TIMES & TRANSCRIPT Dieppe defenceman Alexandre Bernier is joining the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus next season. PHOTO: SAINT JOHN SEA DOGS Director of hockey operations Jean-François Damphousse believes better days are ahead for the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus. They can only go up from here. Coming off a three-win season and failing to make the Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey conference playoffs, the Aigles Bleus’ recruiting class for next season grew on Tuesday. The club announced it’s adding four 20-year-old defencemen - Vincent Lanoue, Tobie Paquette-Bisson, former Moncton Wildcat Olivier Desjardins and Dieppe’s Alexandre Bernier - for next year. Lanoue, Paquette-Bisson and Desjardins have all played at least four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Bernier, currently with the Edmundston Blizzard in 14 février 2018 – Acadie Nouvelle the Maritime Junior Hockey League, won a QMJHL President Cup championship and played in the Memorial Cup with the Saint John Sea Dogs last season. Moncton has already landed QMJHL standout goaltender Étienne Montpetit of the Victoriaville Tigres and former Baie- Comeau Drakkar star forward Maxime St-Cy, who red-shirted this season after playing two years professionally. “The defencemen we’ve signed are leaders on their teams. When you bring in leaders from that type of league, it brings credibility,”said Damphousse, who was hired by UdeM in the new role last May. “It’s the beginning and we have a long way to go to becoming a championship team. Moving forward, we can be in the game when it comes to recruitment.
