Swedish Quality and Safety About Nilsson Nilsson Special Vehicles is a leading manufacturer of special vehicles, with an extensive experience and a considerable amount of professional skill and expertise. The company develops, manufactures, and markets various special vehicles, such as ambulances, limousines, and hearses. These are mainly based on the Volvo S80, Volvo V70 and Mercedes E-class. The Nilsson Ambulance The Nilsson Ambulance is based on the chassis of the Volvo V70, combining comfort and performance of the original vehicle with professional care technology and a high level of safety for both patients and staff. It brings together Nilsson's extensive knowledge and Volvo's world-renowned competence in manufacturing vehicles focusing on safety. The vision for the interior safety design was that “The Nilsson Ambulance should be as safe in the patient compartment as in the rear seat of a Volvo”. Opening the rear doors to the care unit is enough to realize that this vision has been put into practice. There are no sharp edges or aggressive surfaces. Working Environment Who should choose the Nilsson Ambulance? The customer who, beyond the safety of the patient, also is prepared to invest in the working environment of its staff.

REPORT Market conditions for biogas vehicles Tomas Rydberg, Mohammed Belhaj, Lisa Bolin, Maria Lindblad, Åke Sjödin, Christina Wolf B1947 April 2010 Report approved: 2010-10-20 John Munthe Scientific director Organization Report Summary IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute Ltd. Project title Market conditions for biogas vehicles Address P.O. Box 5302 SE-400 14 Göteborg Project sponsor Swedish Road Administration Telephone +46 (0)31-725 62 00 Author Tomas Rydberg, Mohammed Belhaj, Lisa Bolin, Maria Lindblad, Åke Sjödin, Christina Wolf Title and subtitle of the report Market conditions for biogas vehicles Summary With a present share of biofuel used in the Swedish road transport sector of 5.2%, the opportunity for reaching the binding target of 10% by 2020 seem promising. It is both likely and desirable that biogas vehicles may make a significant contribution to fulfill Sweden’s obligation under the biofuels directive. It is likely because the stock of biogas (bi-fuel/CNG) vehicles in Sweden is increasing, as is the supply and demand of biogas. It is desirable, because biogas use in the road transport sector has not only climate benefits, but also benefits from an environmental (e.g. improved air quality due to lower emissions of regulated and unregulated air pollutants) and socio-economic (e.g. domestic production, employment) point of view. • Volvo Bi-Fuel LPG
Volvo Bi-Fuel LPG LPG Tanks Require Less Space LPG becomes liquid at low pressure. LPG therefore requires less tank volume than CNG (for the same driving distance). In the LPG version, the new Volvo models have only one large gas tank. The CNG versions have one large and two small tanks. It takes between two and four minutes to refuel a gas car (applies to both LPG and CNG). The type of nozzle for refueling LPG can vary from country to country. Two adapters for refuelling accompany every LPG car, to make things easier when travelling abroad. VOLVO S40/V40 LPG/petrol 1. Gas injectors 2. Gas distributor 3. Pressure regulator 4. • Characteristics of Anti-Whiplash Seat Designs with Good Rear-Life
CHARACTERISTICS OF ANTI-WHIPLASH SEAT DESIGNS WITH GOOD REAL-LIFE PERFORMANCE Ola Bostrom*, Anders Kullgren** *Autoliv Research, Sweden **Folksam and Karolinska Institutet, Sweden ABSTRACT In the last 10 years car seats have been specifically designed to mitigate short and long-term neck injuries caused by rear end impacts. During this period of time, anti-whiplash seat ratings also have been introduced. Recent research have shown rating methods to correlate to real-life performance. The objective of this study was to describe possible characteristics of real-life good performing anti- whiplash seat designs. To meet the objective, first a real-life data analysis was performed. In total 1111 Folksam and 2630 police reported injuries between 1998 and 2006 were included. As a result, the redesign of the Saab, Volvo and Toyota seats in the late 90s showed a 50-70% reduction in risk of whiplash symptoms for more than 1 month. Secondly, a rating test series with Saab, Volvo and Toyota seats before and after the anti-whiplash redesign were performed. Also, published rating performances of seats with these designs were analyzed. As a conclusion, possible characteristics of good performing seats were good performance in dynamic rating tests, especially for the low and medium severity pulses, through designs aimed at reducing head-to-head restraint distance and yielding/energy absorption of the seat. Keywords: Disabled, Neck, Rear impacts, Seats, Whiplash Long-term neck injuries caused by rear-end impacts have been an issue since the first car seat was designed. According to Krafft (1998) the risk of injury was doubled in car models from 90s compared to 80s.

• Volvo Bi-Fuel Press Kit 2001
PRESS INFORMATION Volvo Bi-Fuel - the environmental option without compromises Most Volvo car models are now available in a Bi-Fuel version with the latest generation Bi-Fuel gas/petrol engine, offering major benefits for both the environment and the car owner. The no-compromise Bi-Fuel concept offers better environmental properties and lower running costs than other Volvo cars. The true premium car experience in a Bi-Fuel car also includes world-class safety, unchanged loading capacity and access to a full range of personal specifications. Cleaner and more fuel-efficient vehicles are important parts of Volvo Cars' `Clean Inside and Out' environmental concept, which also includes eco-branded interiors and filter systems that make the air inside the car cleaner than the air outside. Volvo Cars' new Bi-Fuel engines run on gas, using petrol as a reserve fuel - and no other car manufacturer can match this offer: • The 2.4-litre, five-cylinder Bi-Fuel engine for the Volvo S80, Volvo V70 and Volvo S60 will be available in two variants: one powered by methane (natural gas or biogas) and one that runs on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The maximum power is 140 bhp both on gas and petrol. Production of the S80 and V70 methane powered cars will start in May, all other versions in August. • The Volvo S40 and V40 are available with a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder Bi-Fuel engine running on LPG. The output is 120 bhp in LPG mode and 122 bhp when driving on petrol. (Belgium and France: 116 bhp in LPG mode and 116 bhp on petrol).
