With every driver wanting to go faster and beat the previous best time, research and innovation in engineering of the car is really essential. Although higher speeds are the main criterion for determining the Formula 1 car’s aerodynamic setup, post the San Marino Grand Prix of 1994, the engineering research and development has also targeted for driver’s safety. The governing body of Formula 1, i.e. Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) has made significant rule changes since this time, primarily targeting car safety and speed. Aerodynamic performance of a F1 car is currently one of the vital aspects of performance gain, as marginal gains are obtained due to engine and mechanical changes to the car. Thus, it has become the key to success in this sport, resulting in teams spending millions of dollars on research and development in this sector each year. -

Aerial view of Mount Clemens Race Track about 1955 shows the lagoon between the ovals ount Clemens Race Track was located on a 55-acre site along North River Road near the I-94 Mfreeway. The property was purchased after World War II by Mount Clemens resident Dr. Clayton T. Stubbs and his wife Ruth, for use as a private pheasant hunting preserve. The land was an old harness racing site, the Clinton Driving Park, which had not been used for racing since about 1925. Dr. Stubbs discovered the old track, which had been erected in 1916 by the Mount Clemens Driving Club, overgrown with brush. About 1950, some local race drivers who were using the track to practice for their races at the Motor City Speedway approached Dr. Stubbs about cleaning up the track and offering races there. Dr. Stubbs agreed to their proposal, and the Mount Clemens Race Track was born. The first public race was offered on September 3, 1951, with 5,000 fans on hand. For years, the raceway attracted crowds for MMSRA stock car races on Sunday nights during the summer (in later years the schedule would change to Thursday and Saturday nights), as well as the occasional crowd-pleasing demolition derby. Grandstands seating 5,500 featured an adjacent picnic and playground area, as Dr. and Mrs. Stubbs wanted their racetrack to provide entertainment for the entire family. The grounds included half-mile and quarter-mile ovals and a figure-eight track. -

A Preliminary Study of University Students’ Collaborative Learning Behavior Patterns in the Context of Online Argumentation Learning Activities: The Role of Idea-Centered Collaborative Argumentation Instruction Ying-Tien Wu, Li-Jen Wang, and Teng-Yao Cheng [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] Graduate Institute of Network Learning Technology, National Central University, Taiwan Abstract: Learners have more and more opportunities to encounter a variety of socio-scientific issues (SSIs) and they may have difficulties in collaborative argumentation on SSIs. Knowledge building is a theory about idea-centered collaborative knowledge innovation and creation. The application of idea-centered collaboration practice as emphasized in knowledge building may be helpful for facilitating students’ collaborative argumentation. To examine the perspective above, this study attempted to integrate idea-centered collaboration into argumentation practice. The participants were 48 university students and were randomly divided into experimental and control group (n=24 for both groups). The control group only received argumentation instruction, while the experimental group received explicit idea-centered collaborative argumentation (CA) instruction. This study found that two groups of students revealed different collaborative learning behavior patterns. It is also noted that the students in the experimental group benefited more in collaborative argumentation from the proper adaption of knowledge building and explicit idea-centered collaborative argumentation instruction. Introduction In the knowledge-based societies, learners have more and more opportunities to encounter a variety of social dilemmas coming with rapid development in science and technologies. These social dilemmas are often termed “Socio-scientific issues (SSIs)” which are controversial social issues that are generally ill-structured, open-ended authentic problems which have multiple solutions (Sadler, 2004; Sadler & Zeidler, 2005). -

Communiqué De Presse 27 JUILLET 2014 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Report HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX RACE REPORT Infiniti Red Bull RacingRenault driver Daniel Ricciardo raced to victory in today’s absorbing Hungarian Grand Prix. Daniel’s win, the second for the team and for the Renault Energy F12014 Power Unit this season, came after a thrilling threeway battle for the lead with Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton. Sebastian Vettel secured seventh position for Infiniti Red Bull Racing and JeanEric Vergne ninth for Scuderia Toro Rosso, putting three Renault Energy F12014 Power Units into the top ten. The result consolidates Infiniti Red Bull Racing’s second position in the constructors’ championship and Daniel Ricciardo’s third in the drivers’ race. Key race points: Daniel Ricciardo mastered the everevolving track conditions to move into the lead on lap 9 during the first safety car period. He retained the lead until the second deployment of the safety car and then pitted for a third time in the final third of the race. The Australian hunted down Rosberg for P3, then made a bravado move on Lewis Hamilton for second on lap 67. The next lap he outbraked Alonso into the first corner for the lead and eased out a cushion of five seconds to seal his second career win and the second for the Renault Energy F12014 Power Unit.
