NEW: We’ve chosen to separate the different types of Phalaenopsis into their very own sections to make finding the type of Phalaenopsis you like much easier:

Phalaenopsis Categories are now divided into: Species, Multi-Floral Minis, Micro-Minis, “Big Lip” hybrids, Waxy (often Fragrant) Novelties & larger-flowering Classic Phalaenopsis in new colors & patterns

We’ve also expanded our collection of miniature Vandaceous, miniature Dendrobiums, miniature Oncidinae & divisions of some of our select Paphs in addition to Miscellaneous Genera ~ all of which grow & flower happily with our Phals. Each genus is put into their own category after our Phal. listings.

Most plants are in 2.7 - 3” pots as first or second bloomers unless otherwise noted as being in 4” pots

Stock quantities of 6 or fewer are noted in parens

ORDERING INFORMATION FOR OUR MAIL ORDER CLIENTS:

In the winter or during inclement weather, shipments may be delayed pending more moderate weather conditions. Shipping is either via FedEx Ground or Air depending on the final destination. We reserve the right to withdraw any offering from sale and to limit quantities. We guarantee all plants to be true to their identity to the best of our knowledge. However, since many come in from Taiwan, we have to assume they are properly labeled as to their species or hybrid name. We make no warranty as to the productiveness of any plants sold since everyone’s culture conditions vary widely.

Although we do our utmost to pack carefully, we are not responsible for damage to buds or flowers due to shipping if buyer specifically requests these plants ~ therefore, risk is assumed by buyer for buds or flowers on plants shipped at this stage Safe arrival of a healthy orchid is guaranteed.

Packing & Shipping Charges: Based on the total of your order, a minimum of 10% for packing plus the actual FedEx shipping cost will be charged. We use FedEx Ground for all 1-3 day deliveries within our delivery zone since Ground shipping rates are much more reasonable than Air. If heat packs are requested, they will be provided for an additional $4.50.

Additional Shipping Note: FedEx charges an extra $3.50 for “Home Delivery” so many of our clients choose to have their plants delivered to either their office or to a nearby FedEx Ship Center that accepts “Hold for Pickup” packages ~ those business/FedEx locations always get their deliveries much earlier in the day than the average Home Delivery. If you want to save the additional charge levied for Home Delivery, please let us know if you have a business address you would like to use, or we can research a FedEx location near you that would accept a Ground or Express package as a “Hold for Pickup”.

During the colder & hotter months of the year, having your plants sent to either your business address or a FedEx location as a “Hold for Pickup” usually means it’s delivered much earlier in the day & is not exposed to riding around on a cold or hot delivery vehicle for additional hours. So whenever possible, we highly recommend doing this.

SIZE DEFINITIONS:

PF = Previously flowered, fully mature Blooming Size plants F = Currently in flower (single spike unless otherwise noted) B = In bud (single spike unless otherwise noted) SP = In spike, just initiating to medium spike stage (single spike unless otherwise noted) BS = Blooming size (should flower in season) NBS = Near blooming size (approximately 1 year to flowering in season) S = about 2-3 years to flowering

PHAL SPECIES:

Most of these Phalaenopsis species are from Taiwan & reflect much improved forms & colors, having been sibbed or selfed using very select parents. Species like Phal. bellina, violacea, venosa, speciosa, gigantea, viridis and javanica are extremely slow to reach maturity & can be easily lost as small seedlings so we’re only offering well-established Near Blooming or Blooming Size plants. As a result of their extra years to reach maturity, the pricing on these plants is higher than is usual for quicker growing & more readily available Phal. species.

PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE

Phal. aphrodite subsp. formosana ‘A09001’ (4N) SP $ 45 (2) (TETRAPLOID FORM of Species)

A dynamite tetraploid form of this favorite of all Phal. species ! This clone is producing more compact leaves and much larger flowers than is typical for this subspecies of aphrodite. Its fuller form & beautifully round flowers with the petals almost touching carries great substance & produces a much longer- lasting display with a smaller leaf span than is typical for this species. And the bonus to this particular 4N strain is their naturally & gracefully cascading spikes which make for a stunning display !

WINNER OF IPA BEST PHAL IN SHOW TROPHY !

Phal. bellina (Sib cross of Species) B/F $ 65 (1) A simply sensational sib cross of this fragrant species, producing beautifully round compact foliage as the perfect backdrop to its round heavily blushed waxy flowers ! The improvements in Taiwan to Phal. bellina breeding have been stunning, and this particular sibbing has been beyond our expectations with every one being a potential winner !

FRAGRANT ! ONE -OF-A-KIND SEEDLING !

Phal. bellina fma. coerulea BS $ 75 (Sib Cross of FRAGRANT Species) (1) The fragrant & beautiful Phal. bellina in a new color form ! This cerulean strain has a blue flush which, along with its deep lavender lip, makes quite a statement. And a few from this sibbing will revert with a more typical rich pink bellina flush. This species will continue to flower on older inflorescences in addition to producing new. We’re guessing this group is about a year from flowering & yet we’ve seen a couple spike up already, showing their increased vigor as a sib cross ~ of course, they sold right away !

Phal. cornu-cervi fma. chattaladae 4N (Mericlone) BS $ 75 (4) (TETRAPLOID form)

JUST IN This is the genuine chattaladae form of Phal. cornu-cervi from David Grove, owner of the only known plant of this variety.

OF NOTE: There are other red forms of Phal. cornu-cervi being offered – but they are actually fma. rubescens or a cross between fma. rubescens and possibly fma. chattaladae….all showing a hint of yellow in their lateral sepals and most with a yellow back to the flowers. Fma. chattaladae has a totally solid red back to its flowers with no hint of yellow anywhere except the very tips of the lateral sepals, & it retains its solid red color, even on the fading flowers, whereas fma. rubescens will begin to show yellow as the flowers fade.

Phal. equestris fma. alba BS $ 42 (1) (Rare pure alba form of Species)

These seedlings are from the same population as a select form of this species to which we gave the clonal name ‘Tara’s Beauty’ (pictured on the right) ! The flowers are fuller and much longer lasting than is typical for the species which leads us to wonder if it’s a tetraploid (4N) population. Their vigorously branching spikes make this strain highly desirable. We often leave their still-green spikes on each plant since they can readily produce keikis on those spikes in addition to producing new flowering spikes !

MINIATURE SPECIES ONE-OF-A-KIND SEEDLINGS !

PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE

Phal. equestris fma. aurea BS $ 65 (Mericlone) (2)

(YELLOW LIP form of Species) JUST IN

A stunning variation on this beloved species, bearing pure white flowers accented with a golden-yellow lip ! Same compact leaf span & spike height as all the other members of this species with the potential to produce a keiki on its previously flowered spike. These have been unavailable for years so we were thrilled to find just a few more on our recent trip to Taiwan !

MINIATURE SPECIES

Phal. equestris fma. coerulea PF/BS $ 48 (2) (Blue lip form of Species)

This white form of Phal. equestris bears soft cerulean blue lips, varying slightly in their blue intensity according to light & temperature when they’re forming. Beautifully compact spikes are produced on their first flowering. Always leave the still-green spikes on these plants since they can continue to either add additional buds or produce keikis from the original spike & still create new flowering spikes !

MINIATURE SPECIES ONE-OF-A-KIND SEEDLINGS !

Phal. schilleriana ‘Wilson’ SP $ 48 (1) (Silver leaf form x Spot leaf form)

(“Silver Leaf” form of Species)

This particular sibbing of two forms of LAST this species has resulted in beautifully ONE ! mottled silvery leaves with a distinct & well defined spotting pattern ! This particular clone is an amazingly strong grower for the species with firm leaves & heavier substance flowers. We have

found that this species does best for us

grown under slightly lower light than we give our Phalaenopsis hybrids & the waxier summer-flowering species. A great plant for year round enjoyment due to its amazingly attractive leaves !

FRAGRANT SPECIES

PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE

BS $ 85 Phal. speciosa (tetraspis) var. christiana (‘C#1’ AM/AOS x self) (1)

(Two-tone color form of Species)

A unique color form of this species which has been recognized & awarded by the AOS both as Phal. tetraspis and Phal. speciosa var. christiana ! So neither the taxonomists nor the AOS judging system can yet agree with what it actually should be called. However, this particular selfing has produced the same two-tone fragrant flowers as its parent with the potential for some to flower with the odd

solid red flower. When in full flower, it makes an arresting display of color with no two flowers exhibiting the same red accents. Great fun since each new flower is a surprise !

FRAGRANT SPECIES

ONE-OF-A-KIND SEEDLING !

Phal. tetraspis ‘Green’ SP $ 125 (1) (Green tipped form of Species) 2 spikes

We sold out of these the minute we posted them a year ago ~ but we just found a few more to share ! When flowered in the winter, its green influence is not as strong as when it flowers during the spring or fall when it’s brighter &

cooler. Previously flowered spikes will stay green so don’t remove them but allow them to continue to produce additional flowers in season while still creating new flowering spikes. We’ve also found that this particular color form of the species improves as the plants mature ~ a worthy addition to every collection !

This is an actual photo of our plant when it flowered in April ! The green really comes out under brighter FRAGRANT SPECIES & cooler conditions.

Phal. tetraspis fma. alba BS $ 65 (1) (Pure white form of Species)

A RARE pure white clone of this fragrant species bearing spikes which will continue to add buds & flowers in addition to the plant producing additional new spikes ! These have the same growing & flowering conditions as all Phal. tetraspis (speciosa) species. Another color form to add to your Phal. species collection !

FRAGRANT SPECIES

ONE-OF-A-KIND SEEDLING !

PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE

Phal. tetraspis ‘Blue Red’ SP $ 75 (2) (Species)

We’ve flowered quite a few of the (‘C#1’ x Self) seedlings of this species &, of them all, only one has flowered a true solid blue-red like this clone ! Some of the ‘C#1’ selfings have produced a solid red flower but additional flowers on the same spikes proved to be more like the two- tone ‘C#1’ clone. Unlike those selfings, this particular clone is a stable & solid rich blue-red color for this species !

FRAGRANT SPECIES

NBS/BS $ 65 Phal. venosa ‘KF’ (2) (Select dark clone of Species)

This is an exceptionally dark, almost solid in color, very select clone of this species ! Beautiful glossy green undulating leaves with cascading spikes around 5-7” long. In nature this species grows wet all year so fertilize and keep moist year round. Previously flowered spikes can continue to add buds in addition to new spikes emerging so don’t remove older spikes until they turn brown. A summer into fall bloomer !

Phal. violacea fma. alba SP/B $ 75 (1) (‘Wanchiao’ SM/TOGA x sib: Species)

This is the not-often-available alba form of this wonderfully fragrant species ! The clone ‘Wanchiao’ was recognized in Taiwan with a Silver Medal for its confirmation & pure alba color, some seedlings touched just slightly with a whisper of green on the outer edges of their segments. Waxy long-lasting

fragrant flowers are produced on very compact spikes which cascade gently over a compact leaf span. Previously flowered spikes will remain green & continue to add buds in addition to creating new spikes, with the species literally surrounded bearing multiple spikes gently arching over compact leaves. A great & fragrant space- conscious summer to fall bloomer !

FRAGRANT ! RARE COLOR FORM OF SPECIES ONE-OF-A-KIND SEEDLING

PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE

Phal. viridis BS $ 55 (RARE Species) (2)

Another result of select sibbings & selfings of this rarely available species ! Its burgundy-brown barring overlay is set against a yellow-green base color, making a striking display of its 1.5” waxy flowers. Endemic to Sumatra, this miniature warm grower shows off in the spring with simultaneously opening flowers on its erect to horizontal spikes, extending on a mature plant up to 16” in length, making for a stunning display !

FRAGRANT ! VERY RARE MINI SPECIES

PHALAENOPSIS HYBRIDS

Most of these clones are the result of cutting-edge Taiwanese breeding programs & are plants we’ve hand-selected from some of the most forward-thinking nurseries during our annual trips to Taiwan to judge their TIOS Orchid Show. The advantage to many of the Multi-floral Minis is that they tend to spike more than once a year due to their breeding background. We’ve actually discovered that many were spiking again within 3-4 months after the initial flowering was over !

PLEASE NOTE: With many of the harlequins & the blue, red or orange novelties, differences in light & temperature at various times of the year will cause some variation to occur in the flower color and/or intensity of their markings. Under warmer temperatures & more shaded conditions in the summer, many red novelty-type hybrids with yellow or orange in their breeding background will flower showing more of the influence of those colors. Under cooler temperatures & brighter light in the fall to winter months, the red pigment in the flowers is more strongly expressed resulting in solid to nearly solid red flowers.

Also, many hybrids with a heavy Harlequin influence will show their boldest and most vivid colors when bloomed under cooler temperatures & brighter light during the fall & winter.

In addition, many of the Novelty-type hybrids with Phal. bellina and/or violacea in their background improve in color intensity and size with fuller form on their 2nd & 3rd flowerings, as do the actual species parents.

MULTI-FLORAL MINIATURES (including Harlequin & Peloric Multi-floral Minis):

Phal. Evarise Blue Angel BS $ 38 (Mericlone) (1) (Purple Martin x lobbii)

This is one of those totally delightful multi-floral miniatures that we awarded an AM/AOS at a recent Taiwan

International Orchid Show ~ FRAGRANT & BLUE ! This little wonder is capable of

producing two or more compact spikes as first bloomers over equally compact

leaf spans. Its crowning glory is the

lobbii-type lip which sets off the cerulean

blue flowers with an accent of rich

purple-blue. One of our all-time favorites

for color, fragrance, super compact growth & flowering !

(Little Gem Stripes x Dou-dii Golden Princess)

A new “orange” multi-floral miniature created by a heavy suffusion of the red candy stripes from Little Gem Stripes over the golden-yellow background of Dou-dii Golden Princess ! Great compact

spikes produce multitudes of 6.5cm

flowers on branching sprays from fully

mature plants, each flower outlined with a

fine yellow picotee. Cooler & brighter

conditions always produce the most vivid color. The best of all the seedlings & clones of Fangmei Sweet that we have seen in Taiwan over the last few years !

MULTI-FLORAL MINI !

BS $ 42 Phal. Kenneth Schubert ‘78’

(2) (pulcherrima var. champornensis x violacea fma. coerulea)

JUST IN Multitudes of coerulea-flushed multi- floral miniature flowers are enhanced with darker coerulea splash-flaring on their petals due to the champornensis form of Phal. pulcherrima that was used in this re-make ! Finished with a rich dark coerulea lip, these blooming size plants are in just 2.7” pots. When we saw the mother plant, it was overflowing with 6 branching spikes, creating the ultimate dramatic show !

MULTI-FLORAL MINI

Phal. Lioulin Golden Age PF/BS $ 28 ’A09714’ (2)

(Lioulin Dazzle x Fusheng’s Golden Age)

Bearing fabulous bright yellow flowers offset with a bright red lip, these plants are only in 3” pots, yet several have already produced two branching spikes bearing a multitude of buds ! A ready brancher with nice compact spikes in perfect proportion to the plant, its full form flowers are 2 ½” in size, a nice mid- size between larger flowered hybrids & multi-floral miniatures. Both parents have contributed heavy substance to these flowers which translates to a long- lasting display !

Phal. Lioulin Violin ’PS3572’ PF/BS $ 33 (3) (Chian Xen Violin x Chia E Yenlin)

A harlequin-touched multi-floral miniature, this new hybrid creates compact branching spikes of multitudes of chalk white flowers accented with harlequin accents in their lips ! As first bloomers they had already produced two

branching spikes. A delightful addition to any multi-floral mini collection with its dramatic touch of harlequin accents !

MULTI-FLORAL MINI !

FLOWERS TWICE A YEAR !

Phal. Lioulin Violin ’PS3609’ SP/B $ 33 (2) (Chian Xen Violin x Chia E Yenlin) 2 spikes

This particular clone of Lioulin Violin took on a much heavier harlequin influence from both parents ! Flower size reflects its harlequin multi-floral mini parent, Chia E Yenlin, with multitudes of 2 -2.5” flowers on branching spikes. Like

many hybrids with a harlequin breeding background, light & temperature will produce a variation in its intensity of

spotting depending on the time of the year !

MULTI-FLORAL MINI ! FLOWERS TWICE A YEAR !

Phal. Liu’s Cute Angel PF $ 33 ‘KF#3’ AM/AOS (4)

(Jiaho Cherry x lobbii) B/F $ 33 (2) Just awarded an 82 point AM/AOS from One our recent Cape & Islands Orchid Show branching exhibit ! A delightful 2-tone multi-floral spike mini with that fabulously contrasting broad brilliant red-orange lobbii-type lip ! B/F $ 42 Capable of producing multitudes of (4) branching spikes for an amazingly 4+ floriferous presentation ~ many of these branching spiked again within 2 months, meaning spikes twice a year flowering. And this year we

discovered that the cooler nights of fall to winter encouraged these same plants to create up to 6 spikes each ! The charm of this particular clone is that the petals & dorsal sepal are pink with the contrast of white bi-color accented lateral sepals, creating the perfect backdrop to highlight its fabulous broad lobbii-influenced lip !

MULTI-FLORAL MINI !

FLOWERS TWICE A YEAR ! PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE

Phal. Liu’s Triprince BS $ 75 ‘Yellow Lip’ (1) 2 spikes (Eduardp Quisumbing x lobbii)

Our most favorite of all the color forms of JUST IN Phal. Liu’s Triprince for its sparkling golden yellow lobbii-type lip set against charmingly small white flowers ! This hybrid was noted as a great achievement in giving Phal. lobbii hybrids a better presentation, flower quality and floriferousness, producing compact readily branching spikes over equally compact leaf spans. These can flower more than once a year & are easily tucked into any collection, no matter how space-challenged it is !

MULTI-FLORAL MINI !

Phal. Mini Mark ‘Maria Teresa’ BS/PF $ 75 (Micro Nova x philippinense) (1)

A clone hand-selected by Carlos Fighetti several years ago for its bright well- defined marks ! Very compact leaf spans over which compact branching spikes produce multitudes of little white & orange flowers. One of our most popular & often asked-for of all minis ! Best grown slightly shadier, cooler & drier due to its Micro Nova & Phal. philippinense parentage. We were fortunate enough to obtain the last of these from our grower in Taiwan, rarely available in the US. They are fully & super-mature plants !

MULTI-FLORAL MINI !

Phal. (Silbergrube x javanica) PF/SP $ 42 (2) One of those “cute as a button” multi- floral minis ! Phal. javanica adds the charming accent of its candy striping to this little hybrid with Silbergrube giving it the perfect spike height while enhancing its sunset colors. Phal. Sogo Lemon Sunny ‘2764’ BS $ 33 (3) (Rong Guan Amah x I-Hsin Sunflower)

A great mating of a white multi-floral JUST IN

mini, Phal. Rong Guan Amah, with a brilliant yellow waxy flower, Phal. I-Hsin Sunflower ! The result has been a multi- floral waxy bright yellow on compact spikes over an equally compact leaf span. A bright ray of sunshine with a smaller footprint & longer-lasting display ~ ideal for under-lights, windowsill & space-challenged growing !

MULTI-FLORAL WAXY MINI !

Phal. Sogo Vivien PF/BS $ 28 ‘Golden Leaves’ (2) (Boldly Variegated form) SP $ 38 (Sogo Alice x Zuma’s Pixie) (2) 2 spikes Everyone loves Phal. Sogo Vivien for its

multitudes of charming small candy-

striped flowers ! This particular clone, bearing the same candy-stripe flowers, has a brand new element to set it apart from all the other Sogo Viviens ~ dramatically variegated foliage, making it attractive even when not in flower. No two plants will exhibit the same variegation & each leaf on each individual plant will be slightly different in the degree of its variegation depending on light & temperature when forming. Add to that its frequency of flowering, producing wonderfully compact readily branching & naturally cascading spikes, and it becomes a striking display & treasure to enjoy year ‘round !

VARIEGATED MULTI-MINI ! CAN FLOWER TWICE A YEAR !

Phal. Summer Rose ‘Blue Star’ B/F $ 35 (5) (Kenneth Schubert x equestris fma. coerulea)

A true cerulean blue multi-floral miniature with the blue coming from both parents ! Each flower is beautifully set off by a white column & intense velvety rich blue lip. These are amazingly vigorous & floriferous plants, already producing two spikes as first bloomers. And its blue color will be more intense under cooler & brighter conditions ~ we expect these to begin flowering in September, perfect timing for the best color !

(NOTE: Light & temperature will influence the intensity of its color depending on the time of year.)

CAN FLOWER TWICE A YEAR !

Phal. Taida King’s Caroline PF $ 38 ’Taida Little Zebra VA’ AM/AOS (3)

(Ever-spring King x Ho’s Little Caroline)

We just received an AM/AOS from the American Orchid Society for this particular clone ! VA is not a boo-boo on the clonal name of these plants ~ VA stands for “Variant” ! These are a mega

OLD: original ‘Taida Little Zebra’ SENSATIONAL clonal shift from the original older clone of ‘Taida Little Zebra’ (pictured at top). This fabulous shift has

heavily emboldened the harlequin striping on the flowers, creating a stunning & dramatically dark presentation right to the tips of each segment. Same compact gently cascading spikes ~ same flowering habit ~ our photo doesn’t even begin to show how dramatically marked & emboldened the flowers really are. A “gutsy” flower with even heavier substance, these are head & shoulders more stunning than the original clone of ‘Taida Little Zebra’ & are one of our specially selected “must have” favorites, flowering twice a year ! NEW: ‘Taida Little Zebra VA’ ! CAN FLOWER TWICE A YEAR !

A great shot of firm substance & amazingly long-lasting sunshine flowers to brighten any collection !

Phal. Tying Shin Fay ‘Wilson’ B/F $ 48 (1) (Anna-Larati Soekardi x Tying Shin Jaguar) 2 spikes

A great mix of the always popular Anna- Larati Soekardi multi-floral mini with Phal. Tying Shin Jaguar, producing an abundant display of adorable miniature flowers with a broad Phal. parishii-type solid blood-red lip ! A unique clone of this hybrid, it bears silvery green upright leaves, making it attractive even when not in flower. We expect these, due to their parentage, will flower more than once a year !

A great new “splash petal” multi-floral SP/B $ 33 mini resulting from a clonal shift of the Solid color wildly popular Phal. Tying Shin Smart ! form (top After bringing them in from Taiwan, the photo)

nursery told us that this clone has only (1) produced a small percent of the plants that are blooming true to the splash-petal parent with the remaining stock reverting back to the original solid salmon multi- mini (top photo). And a few of the splash-petal plants have produced charming peloric flowers. We have now selected out those plants that are bearing leaves which indicate they will produce splash-petal flowers ~ please be sure to specify which one you’d prefer !

MULTI-FLORAL MINI !

Phal. Younghome Ray ‘M’ B/F $ 28 (2) (Sogo Wedding x Sogo Ray)

There are white multi-floral minis & then there are white multi-floral minis ~ this particular one is about as cute as a mini can get, dramatically touched with a sensational candy-striped lip ! Younghome Ray is just loaded with white multi-floral minis in its breeding

background ! The result has been this super mini with an adorable rich pink- striped lip to add an exciting new dimension to its presentation. We sold out of these rapidly a couple of years ago & have just obtained a few more. Great compact leaves & spikes ~ easily tucked into any collection !

MULTI-FLORAL MINI !

PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE

Phal. Yushan Swif ‘A09333’ PF $ 28 (2) (Sogo Yenlin x Sogo Kooper)

The most vivid of solid pink multi-floral miniatures & a super compact grower ! We had forgotten how absolutely sensational this mini is from when we first saw one in flower. Sogo Yenlin is a

beautiful full form dark pink mini ~ and mated with the sunset-tone Sogo Kooper, it has given its pink parent the additional

punch of a yellow underlay creating electric pink long-lasting heavy substance flowers. Each segment carries a whisper of a narrow yellow picotee, setting each flower off to its ultimate. Very compact branching spikes in perfect proportion to its great compact leaves makes this the ideal little Phalaenopsis to grow on a windowsill or under lights. Many of these had just finished flowering, bearing two branching spikes as first bloomers, & were already spiking again !

MULTI-FLORAL MINI ! CAN FLOWER TWICE A YEAR !

MICRO-MINIS ~ PERFECT FOR SPACE-CHALLENGED COLLECTIONS:

Phal. Chienlung Cute Lobi ‘M’ BS/PF $ 65 (Liu’s Cute Angel x lobbii) (1)

Finally, an easy-to-grow primary hybrid of Phal. lobbii that flowers with even more flowers per spike than Phal. lobbii, but with the flowers being exactly like that

charming species ! For many, Phal.

lobbii is one of the more difficult species

to grow so we’re always looking for near- primaries that produce flowers like the species but are much easier to grow & flower. This little cutie flowers on very compact spikes over delightfully miniature round leaves, giving us, on its first flowering, two spikes with 5 or more flowers per spike & will continue to add more buds to its original spikes in

addition to producing new. So if the

spikes remain green, do not remove

them. As these grow up we expect

multiple spikes on very micro-miniature

growers.

MICRO-MINIATURE !

Phal. Liu’s Gold Coin ‘M’ SP/B $ 95 (1) (Ho’s Kuangfeng Glory x lobbii)

One of the very few Stem Props available of this fabulous & rarely available micro- mini ! Known for his very special breeding program using Phal. lobbii & Phal. parishii, Mr. Liu wanted a great golden-yellow mini with an extremely small footprint & a lobbii-type lip. Showing the strong influence of Phal. lobbii in its broad lip, super compact spike & leaf habit, its brilliant color comes from the pod parent, Ho’s Kuangfeng Glory. And this particular micro-mini never seems to stop making new spikes. An easy grower, unlike its Phal. lobbii parent, & deserving of a place in every serious Phalaenopsis collection !

MULTI-FLORAL MICRO-MINI !

Phal. Su-An Cricket ‘SW’ BS $ 75 (Gelblieber x mannii) (1)

Another exciting “find” at the 2018 Taiwan Show ! This little hybrid is hard JUST IN

to find so we ordered a few more the

minute we saw them. With its great

micro-mini leaf span & spike, it can

produce an abundance of yellow-green full-form waxy miniature flowers. Due to its breeding background we have found these grow best under lower Phalaenopsis light. And the green expression in their flowers is more evident when flowered under cooler temperatures and higher light. A sensational little micro-mini !

FRAGRANT WAXY MICRO-MINI !

Phal. Su’s Glad Kid ‘Blue’ BS $ 65 (Anna-Larati Soekardi x violacea fma. coerulea) (5)

A unique mix of three great species, Phal. pulcherrima, parishii & the blue form of JUST IN

violacea ! These are flowers that are

about 2.5cm in size on compact spikes, flushed with blue pin-dotting on its lateral

sepals & around its column. But the best part of this little charmer is the rich blue parishii-like broad lip against the chalk white flowers. Great for space- challenged collections & can flower more

than once a year !

“BIG LIP” (Tri-Petaloid) HYBRIDS:

One of the most important factors in today’s “Big Lip” breeding is a large flat lip that is almost identical to the petals ! We have seen some pretty poor hybrids in this new line of breeding over the past 2-3 years, with their “big lips” either cupped or crippled, or with the “lip” dropping so far down from the other segments of the flower that you could drive a truck right through it ! The clones we choose to carry must have a beautiful broad flat lip tucked right up into the flower itself so it gives the definite impression of a 3-petal flower. There have been only a few so far that meet those standards for us, & we’re excited to be able to share some of them with everyone.

Phal. Charming Crystal Water SP $ 55 ’F1287’ (3)

(Tying Shin Valentine’s Day x Fureshing Mark)

Phal. Tying Shin Valentine’s Day is a multi-floral miniature bearing 5cm flowers in super abundance ~ mated with Fureshing Mark, a large “big lip” hybrid, Charming Crystal Water can produce

multitudes of stunning pristine white

3 ¾” flowers on branching cascading inflorescences ! Its flat and full lip truly resembles a third petal, filling in between the lateral sepals beautifully. If you grow

only one “Big Lip”, this is THE ONE to

own !

MULTI-FLORAL MIDI !

OF SPECIAL NOTE: This is actually the very same plant that was originally awarded Grand Champion at the 2018 TIOS Show (see its award photos) !!! When the awards were recorded by the AOS, it was given its hybrid name by the grower as Charming Crystal Water ‘F1287’. A very unique opportunity to own something truly sensational !

Phal. Lioulin R Lip ‘1274’ BS $ 38 (2) (Tying Shin Unicorn x Lioulin Pretty Lip)

JUST IN This hybrid is one of the most dramatic we have seen in Taiwan for its bold & crisply defined harlequin accents ! Add to that its broad “big lip” which gives the appearance of a third petal by being tucked right up under the column. For

Fully round flat 8.3cm (3”) white flowers are beautifully accented with a contrasting broad flat “big lip” heavily flushed with rich pink, edged with a charming white picotee. Gracefully cascading spikes present each flower perfectly spaced for the ultimate impact. Our newest “big lip” with what

we consider to be essential from this line of breeding ~ a lip that’s flat & broad,

tucked right up into the flower with no gap showing through the lateral sepals ~ a lip that truly resembles a third petal !

A beautiful new BIG LIP hybrid that we just found at OX Nursery ! What we like about this particular hybrid is the nice flat broad lip coming from both parents and the soft “cherry blossom” color of its 8.7cm (3.5”) flowers ~ add to that its beautiful round form with the petals almost touching. You can readily see the OX Honey Moon parent in its beautiful

broad ‘Big Lip’. Color intensity in the lip

can vary with light & temperature. The newest addition to our growing BIG LIP Collection !

(Surf Song x Yu Pin Fireworks)

Seen & awarded at a recent TIOS Show in Taiwan, this clone had everything going for it – so we ordered as many as we could ! Added to the amazing sunset color from Surf Song comes the BIG LIP from Yu Pin Fireworks, making for an arresting display of a tri-petal flower, around 3” in size. What we really liked about this particular clone was the flatness of the lip as opposed to many “Big Lip” clones we’ve seen that are showing a severely cupped lip, something we just don’t like to see for this line of breeding…this one truly gives the appearance of three petals on a nice flat & uniquely colored flower !

PELORIC “BIG LIP”

Phal. Younghome Cloud ‘0410’ BS $ 48 (3) Another favorite of ours in this family of

pure white “big lips” ! Pristine white JUST IN flowers cascade on beautifully arching spikes, allowing each to be shown to its ultimate. (Sogo Yukidian x World Class) B/F $ 45 In this hybrid, a famous large white has (2) been mated to Phal. World Class ‘Big 2 spikes Foot’ to create this “big lip” result ! As the chosen parent by many hybridizers to create new generations of “Big Lip” progeny, most clones of this hybrid are white or just lightly touched with pink. This particular clone produces shell pink flowers with a generously full & flat lip tucked right into the flower, leaving no gaps, for a perfect 3-petal appearance. Elegant & naturally cascading spikes give it a wonderful presentation, and its peloric flat lip adds that special panache of something new and really different !

PELORIC “BIG LIP”

WAXY ~ OFTEN FRAGRANT ~ BRIGHTLY-COLORED NOVELTIES:

This group of Waxy Novelties includes limited Stem Props & Poly Props from Taiwan. As mentioned under Phal. species, due to the heavy influence of the slower-growing species of Phal. bellina, violacea, lueddemanniana, amboinensis & venosa in their breeding backgrounds, it often takes an additional year or two for these hybrids to reach flowering size as opposed to a standard Phalaenopsis. But once they do, they’re well worth the wait for their vivid color, thick long-lasting waxy flowers & amazing fragrances. They also have a tendency to produce basal keikis from the mother plant for the ultimate presentation. In addition, many of these Novelty-type hybrids improve even more in their color intensity and size, adding fuller form on their 2nd & 3rd flowerings. They will retain previously flowered green spikes, continuing to add more buds to them, while still producing additional spikes ~ within a couple of years these plants can be surrounded with multiple spikes in full flower for a sensational show to please all the senses !

summer) it will show just a hint of its

Hannover Passion parentage with a

narrow yellow picotee around all its segments (see photo). This is one of the

best from today’s cutting-edge breeding

SELECT ONE-OF-A-KIND NOVELTY SEEDLINGS:

Many of our novelty or select seedlings will be flowering for the first time for us this spring into fall ~ and with Phal. bellina in the background of many, as first bloomers they will initially produce only 1-3 flowers on their first spikes. This type of breeding is extremely slow to grow to maturity due to the heavy influence of the slower-growing waxy Phal species in their background. With these waxy novelties, we leave any still-green spikes on the plants since they will most likely add more buds to these spikes in addition to producing new spikes at their next flowering. Some people choose to remove the initial spikes & give the energy back to the plant. However, we’ve never noticed (with novelty-type breeding) that it makes much difference in the overall vigor of the plant since their parentage carries the habit of retaining older spikes. Also, their flower form, color and size improve enormously with their 2nd & 3rd flowerings. But ~ the real bonus to owning a One-of-a-Kind plant is that you can give it your own clonal name !

OTHER GENERA WHICH GROW HAPPILY UNDER PHALAENOPSIS CONDITIONS:

MINIATURE VANDACEOUS:

All these species & hybrids grow & flower easily WITH our Phals under the same light & temperature conditions since they are miniature growers, requiring much lower light than their larger-growing & flowering cousins. We’re growing them in deep small plastic baskets to allow their roots to dry slightly between waterings. In the winter we slip these little baskets into rose pots to allow the roots to continue to grow down from the basket, our own approach to “collaring” that Alan Koch of Gold Country Orchids does with his plants in clay pots. These are mostly miniature, & a few compact, growing species & hybrids, many of which will readily form basal keikis to become beautiful specimen miniatures producing multitudes of spikes at the same time on all of their mature growths. And most of them are also delightfully FRAGRANT !

All the plants listed below grow & flower easily WITH our Phals under the same light & temperature conditions since they are miniature or compact growing species or hybrids, requiring much lower light than their larger cousins and needing no chill in order to set their buds – many are fragrant & can easily flower more than once a year, putting on quite a show for their diminutive size !

PHOTO NAME & NOTES SIZE PRICE

Dendrobium Angel Baby PF/BS $ 25 ’Little Darling’ AM/AOS (3)

(Snow Baby x Snow Angel)

An adorable, and very miniature, nobile- type Dendrobium which, when grown warmer & kept evenly moist, does not drop its leaves ! When we received the AM/AOS on this clone, it was showing off with 46 flowers on 12 spikes emerging from three 16cm (6.5”) tall canes. A little stunner with FRAGRANT white flowers delightfully set off with an apple green

throat in the lip – can flower 3-4 times a year without needing a chill period like most nobile-influenced Dendrobiums. These will flower & re-flower on newly mature leaved canes in addition to re- flowering on previously flowered leafless canes. A rewarding little mini for windowsill or under-lights growing !

NOTE: This particular mini, despite being a Dendrobium, seems to prefer to be grown in moss with an even moisture supply. We initially grew them in bark & lost each one ~ they love the moss !

FRAGRANT MINI !

Den. Classic Gem F $ 28 ’Purple Queen’ (1)

(D’Bush Classic x Gemwood)

Often called the Pansy-type Dendrobium, this type of hybrid is not often available ! What sets this particular clone apart from other Phalaenopsis-type Dendrobiums is its pelroic broad flat lip, to mimic a petal, which gives it the appearance of a Pansy in its shape. Heavily influenced by two Dendrobium species in its background,

Den. phalaenopsis dominates for its flower size and full round form while Den. bigibbum gives its canes a much more compact growth habit. A warm grower, it produces an abundance of long lasting pansy-looking flowers.

LOW LIGHT DENDROBIUM !

Den. Enobi Purple BS $ 28 ‘Splash’ AM/AOS (2)

(Enobi Komachi x Laguna Princess)

This miniature Dendrobium received its AM/AOS at the Taiwan International Orchid Show in 2011 with 251 flowers & buds on 21 gracefully arching spikes. We’ve flowered them all to assure that they all are splash-petal – some of the mericlone population had reverted back so always ask if the grower has seen the flowers. Once fully mature, they will flower more than once a year, on new

canes & again on previously flowered canes. And this new population, just in from Taiwan, has even more vivid & dark splash accents ~ we suspect this strain came originally from Thailand where the clones from their plant of this mini are dramatically better (see lower photo). A real show stopper and a vigorous grower capable of becoming an amazing miniature specimen in very little time !

LOW LIGHT MINIATURE !

Dendrobium jenkinsii PF/BS $ 28 (Syn. Den. aggregatumvar. jenkinsii) (2)

(MICRO-MINI Species)

Multitudes of FRAGRANT pendulous short spikes of 2-4 flowers are produced primarily in the spring – bright golden yellow flowers with a deep gold lip. These are MICRO MINI multiple growth plants which will grow & flower beautifully under Phal. conditions. Most have flowered already with several spikes & are currently hardening off their new flowering growths !

under our higher light Phal. conditions. This particular strain has been an easy grower & bloomer, totally contrary to all the culture information about this species posted on the web. Once these plants were fully mature, they have vigorously doubled in size each year to produce the ultimate in a fragrant & cascading display of brilliant golden-yellow !

FRAGRANT & AMAZINGLY COMPACT GROWER !

Den. Ueang Pheung PF/BS $ 35 (3) (jenkinsii x lindleyi)

The particular charm of this FRAGRANT

MICRO MINI is that while it retains the miniature leaf habit of Den. jenkinsii, it took on the greater floriferousness of Den lindleyi, producing multitudes of large flowers on cascading spikes, producing more flowers and buds than Den. jenkinsii’s habit of 2-4 flowers per spike. Will flower any time, fall to spring, on its newly maturing growths !

NOTE: We’ve found this little hybrid does equally well whether grown in moss or a bark mix – and it readily makes the transition from moss to bark without

missing a beat.

PAPHIOPEDILUMS:*

Many of our Paphiopedilums are divisions of select plants from our own collection ~ and are growing and flowering under the same conditions as our Phalaenopsis. Our particular favorites are miniatures from the parvi family, especially those with micranthum, armeniacum & delenatii as parents, and the larger growing, always grand & showy multiflorals, using philippinense or rothschildianum as parents. Pricing will vary according to the number of growths of each division/plant. Number of growths for each provided on request.

This fabulous multi-floral has already received 16 AOS awards. Slow to Pre-Order reach maturity but well worth the wait, we Only selected this seedling from several we have flowered for its well-defined crisp

DIVISION OF OUR SELECT CLONE

Paph. Dollgoldi ‘#1’ NBS $ 45 (1) (rothschildianum x armeniacum)

Pre-Order This particular multi-floral, due to the fact Only that Paph. rothschildianum is the pod parent, is very slow to mature to blooming size. But when it does flower, it’s extremely showy & colorful ~ more than worth the wait ! Recipient of 49 AOS awards already. NEW !

All the plants listed below grow & flower easily WITH our Phals under the same light & temperature conditions since most are miniature or micro-miniature growing species or hybrids, requiring much lower light than their larger cousins – they can put on quite a show for their compact size ! We also have divisions of several of our selected Cattleyas which we’ve grown & marked as exceptional from seedling populations – however, since we didn’t take pictures of many when they were flowering, we will only bring divisions in bud or flower due to the variation among several clones of the same select hybrid.

Bnfd. Gilded Tower BS/PF $ 33 ’Yellow Star’ (2)

(Summit x Gilded Urchin)

4” pots Although we don’t normally grow, or even choose to carry, the more common & readily available mericlones of the family, we have always loved this particular hybrid for its exotic presentation & amazingly long-lasting display of dramatic & contrasting colors ! Its color combination is quite extraordinary, olive green flowers accented with chocolate brown blotches. And as the perfect finishing accent, its golden-yellow lip is beautifully marked with rusty chestnut brown. The flowers can reach 4” in size with a fully mature plant capable of producing more than 15 flowers per beautifully arching spike.

Unlike many of the more common Oncidinae, this hybrid’s heavy substance flowers mean a much longer lasting display of its exotic presentation !

Brilliant orange Brassia-type flowers are BACK IN displayed gracefully just above its STOCK miniature foliage for a stunning presentation ! These plants are first bloomers but in another year or two will be an outstanding shot of color in any collection. As a bonus, they produce a sweet citrus-like fragrance. A great & very compact grower with amazingly vivid color & fragrance !

FRAGRANT MINIATURE !

Cattlianthe (Pot.) Fairyland B/F $ 35 (Ctt, Candy Tuft x C. Beaufort)

NEW C. Beaufort is one of our most favorite

among all compact/miniature Cattleya LISTING parents for its small growth habit while still producing large flowers ! This little hybrid has flowered in various color forms, from white with a whisper of a pink picotee to soft lemon yellow backed

with a hint of pink with a few flowering pure white ~ each color form is accented with large beautifully frilly yellow lips. These little gems can flower twice a year,

spring & fall, under Phalaenopsis

conditions. No matter which color flower results from each seedling, they will remain compact growers, perfect for lower light windowsill and under-lights culture ~ not to mention space- challenged growing !

Chysis limminghei PF/BS $ 38 (1) (MINI Species)

An adorable species endemic to Mexico which just loves warm to hot conditions ! When its new growth matures, it sends out a pendulous, robust inflorescence bearing fragrant, waxy, long-lasting flowers up to 3” in size. Large showy flowers can literally dwarf the miniature size of the plant and pseudobulbs. Easily grown & flowered under Phalaenopsis conditions. The leaves will drop in the fall after flowering & we recommend keeping the medium damp to avoid shriveling its pseudobulbs during the winter. This species does not like to be repotted with any great frequency so we’re growing ours in New Zealand moss which allows for very little disturbance of its root system when repotting is needed to accommodate new growths.

FRAGRANT WAXY SPECIES ! MINIATURE

Fredclarkeara After Dark PF/BS $ 45 4” pot ’Sunset Valley Orchids’ FCC/AOS (1)

(Mo. Painted Desert x Ctsm. Donna Wise)

Easily grown under Phalaenopsis Large conditions, this particular clone of multiple Fredclarkeara After Dark produces tawny growth green flowers, heavily spotted maroon plant over all ! Its heavy substance flowers

with a waxy texture lead to a long-lasting display. In 2005 this plant was the recipient of the Merritt W. Huntington Award as the most outstanding plant that had been granted an FCC/AOS. When awarded with its FCC, it was vigorously displaying 48 flowers on three pendant inflorescences, all emerging from just one pseudobulb ! A great exhibit plant and a stunner when in flower. These plants are now just completing their new leafy growths in preparation for fall/winter flowering.

Of special note: We shifted our exhibit plants of Fredclarkeara into New Zealand moss as an experiment to keep the deciduous growths plump & have noted that its even moisture supply helps keep

the older pseudobulbs from desiccating while giving increased vigor to the new growths. We have since moved all our stock of this type into NZ Moss & they’re thriving !

Habenaria Mayfly SP/F $ 48 (Conure x lindleyana) (1)

We just received an 82 point AM/AOS on NEW ! one of our first bloom seedlings from this hybrid ! An exciting new Habenaria hybrid, made and just registered last year by Leon Glicenstein ~ Leon just told me that he received on AQ/AOS on this new hybrid with 2 HCC/AOS & one AM/AOS from the AQ group ! Conure is a fairly complex parent combining rhodocheila, roebelenii and xanthocheila while lindleyana is a small pure white flower resembling an angel. Of those we have flowered so far, all have been white like our photo, some with just a whisper of yellow in their lips. These are easy growers and a refreshing color variation & form in Habenarias. What we really love about this new hybrid is its full flat horizontally held sepals showing none of the sepal reflexing that is so common in this genus.

Habenaria Summer Tanager PF/F $ 48 (Conure x roebelenii) (2)

Registered just recently by Leon Glicenstein, this new near primary hybrid NEW ! is comprised of rhodocheila & xanthocheila with a double dip of roebelenii ! With orange & bright yellow in its breeding background, we’re expecting brilliant orange to almost red flowers from this cross due to his choice to use the redder form of rhodocheila in this hybrid ~ those we have flowered so far are an electric glowing orange! These flowers can reach about 2.75cm. in size from top to bottom. And their beautiful grass-like striped foliage adds even more to their charm. We expect these to continue to spike & flower for the first time this summer into the fall !

Howeara (now Leomesezia) Lava Burst PF $ 25 (3) ‘Puananii’ AM/AOS

(Mini-Primi x lanceolata) B/F $ 30 (5) An adorable & very floriferous miniature Multiple member of the Oncidium family ! Its spikes long-lasting flowers can appear twice a year, eventually creating a giant cloud of electric red. An intergeneric hybrid of

Rodriguezia, Oncidium & , these plants remain small yet produce gently cascading compact spikes held well above its miniature foliage with multitudes of small red flowers bearing broad spotted lips. Cooler & brighter conditions will produce the deepest red color in its flowers. We’ve heard from several growers that one of the clonings of this ‘Puananii’ population resulted in dull salmon flowers so we’ve flowered them all to assure that this cloning is producing the bright red flowers that we’d like to see from it. A vigorous bloomer, several of our plants had just finished flowering, & we discovered that they were still making even more new spikes, each pseudobulb capable of producing up to four spikes. Perfect for under-lights or windowsill growing !

MINIATURE !

Onc. Alosuka ‘Claire’ BS $ 35 (2) (Memoria Kiyoshi Akatsuka x Aloha Sunshine)

If you’ve always loved the flowers of Onc. varicosum, Onc. Killer Bees and Onc. NEW Island’s Love but found them more difficult to grow, this is the perfect answer ! Onc. Alosuka is an easy-to- grow miniature bearing the same brilliant golden yellow lip accented with a dramatically contrasting almost-black blotch at its base. The flowers take after

its dramatically yellow & chocolate- accented Memoria Kiyoshi Akatusuka parentage with Aloha Sunshine adding ease of growth. This clone can flower twice a year when fully mature, producing multiple gently arching & branching inflorescences from each newly maturing pseudobulb, compact & readily branching on very young plants. Unlike Onc. Moon Shadow, its spikes are much more compact, branching freely on gently arching inflorescences & its flowers are rounder & fuller. Also, it’s black contrast is much darker & more dramatic than that of Onc. Moon Shadow.

Onc. (Gomesa) Moon Shadow PF/BS $ 25 ’Tiger Tail’ AM/AOS (1)

(Cytocidium Hornet x Big Bee)

We’ve always loved the brilliant yellow flowers of Onc. (Gomesa) varicosa,

especially with its boldly contrasting deep chocolate petals ! However, under our growing conditions that particular species never did well at all. This little hybrid has so much Onc. varicosa in its

breeding background that it looks just like Onc. varicosa, yet it is infinitely easier to grow & flower under our Phalaenopsis conditions. Vigorously branching cascading spikes over miniature growths make this clone a sure winner !

MINIATURE !

Onc. Sweet Sugar PF/BS $ 25 ‘Lemon Drop’ HCC/AOS (2) (now Oncidesa) SP/B $ 30 (Aloha Iwanaga x Gomesa varicosa) (2) Branching This is our favorite clone of this hybrid spike for its concolor pure yellow flowers with no other accent in the lip, quite unlike 4” pots other clones of this hybrid ! producing over sixty 4.2cm flowers & buds on a single branching spike, its heavy substance satiny flowers provide a long-lasting and amazingly floriferous display. These are already branching to create the ultimate show !

Pot. Young-Min Orange BS/SP $ 38 ’Golden Satisfaction’ AM/AOS (2)

(Viola Nuggett x Lc. Trick or Treat)

This spectacular clone of Pot. Young-Min Orange knocked all the AOS judges out with its amazingly floriferous display at the Taiwan International Orchid Show in 2010. It was awarded that year with over 150 flowers and buds borne on 20 inflorescences, a display of vivid fiery orange, capable of producing 7+ flowers per spike when fully mature. Two years later in 2012, when exhibited again in Taiwan at the show, it had virtually doubled in size & since then has quadrupled, being brought in to a recent show in a wheelbarrow ! This vigorous & extremely compact grower can flower twice a year with long-lasting waxy & lightly FRAGRANT flowers, their orange intensifying as the flowers mature. Grows & flowers happily under lower light Phalaenopsis conditions ~ the pleasure of a brightly colored Cattleya without the large plant size !

Propetalum La Jolla Delight PF $ 33 ‘Hilo Orchid Farm’ AM/AOS (1)

(Promenaea stapelioides x Zygo. Kiwi Dusk) SP/B $ 38

JUST AWARDED ! (2)

We just had our plant of this clone awarded an AM/AOS at the MontrealExpo BACK IN Show last March ! An enormous STOCK improvement over prior makes of this hybrid, due in large part to the dark & heavily suffused clones of its parents. A wonderfully compact grower, standing just 8-10” in height, these plants will

grow happily under low to medium light, right next to Phalaenopsis, and their waxy flowers can last for weeks. They can flower any time of the year in response to the onset of new growths, &

we’ve had several flower twice within just

two months so they have no particular Our awarded plant ~ the flower is so glossy flowering season ! They will grow that the flash is reflecting back ! Sepals & equally well under intermediate petals have a green base but are so heavily temperatures although we grow them just overlaid with dark burgundy that they appear a bit warmer with our Phalaenopsis. solid, almost black, in color. Keep moist to help maintain their plump pseudobulbs but do not allow the medium to become soggy.
