Field and laboratory studies revealed a total of 109 taxa belonging to 64 genera, 32 families and 2 classes. Six taxa belong to Ascomycetes and 103 to Basidiomycetes. The field studies progress. The studies carried out on macrofungi species were conducted mostly in autumn and spring, since between 1932 and 2005 have been reviewed, and it was during these periods the climatic conditions are most determined that there are approximately 1600 suitable for carpophore formation. Relevant documented macrofungi species in Turkey (Sesli & morphological and ecological characteristics of the Denchev, 2005). In these studies, the Mediterranean, macrofungi were recorded and they were photographed Marmara, Black Sea and western part of Turkey have in their natural habitats. The local consumption of been investigated. Although many taxonomic studies have macrofungi and their local names were recorded by been performed in the Aegean region, no information is interviews with local people. Then the macrofungi were available about Honaz Mountain. Therefore, this area was taken to the laboratory for further investigation. Spore chosen as a research area. prints were prepared and spores photographed. Some Honaz Mountain, which is the highest mountain in the reagents (Melzer’s reagent, 5% KOH, H2SO4, cotton blue, Aegean region, is located in Denizli province (Figure 1) etc.) were used for identification. The specimens were and is influenced by Mediterranean and Aegean climates. identified by examining their macroscopic and Trees growing in the study area include Pinus brutia, P. microscopic features, using references by Marchand nigra, Juglans regia, Juniperus excelsa, J. foetidissima (1971, 1973, 1975, 1977, 1980, 1982, 1983, 1986), and Quercus ilex.
