Matterhorn Glacier Paradise – Experience a Day of Fasci- nating Contrasts with the highest-altitude Cable Car in Europe In a single day, you can experience idyllic high-alpine mountain meadows, spontaneous snowball fights, impressive glacier for- mations, breathtaking panoramas and mystic mountain lakes, all with a view of the majestic Matterhorn. With the Matterhorn Express, you can travel directly from Zermatt, via Schwarzsee, high up to Trockener Steg. From the aerial cable car, you can observe the antics of the marmots, the graceful chamois and the Matterhorn from various viewpoints directly below the imposing East Face. During the trip you'll hear interesting background in- formation (see offer on page 93). At Trockener Steg, you can board the highest cable car in Europe and glide over the glacier fields towards the Matterhorn glacier paradise, which is situated 3,883 m a.s.l. A summit full of superlatives awaits you here:

Passenger lifts take you to the panorama platform with a stun- ning view of 38 four-thousand metre summits and the mystic Glacier Palace 15 m below the surface of the ice. You feel close to heaven at 3,883 m a.s.l, and can enjoy a view over the French, Swiss and Italian 4,000-metre mountains. A panorama window has also been cut into the rock in the middle of the mountain facing in the direction of the Breithorn. You can watch mountain- eers, the circling jackdaws, and the precipices of the Theodul gla- cier. Take a unique souvenir photo at this interesting Matterhorn photo point. Gornergrat – the matterhorn railway – Experience the Climate For anyone who would like to experience the most beautiful part of the alpine world surrounding Zermatt, it will quickly become clear that Gornergrat mustn’t be missed. With its sunny viewing platform which can be reached all year round, the Gornergrat ranks among one of the top tourist destinations, not only because of its altitude. Surrounded by 29 ‘four-thousanders’», the largest Swiss mountain and third-longest glacier in the Alps, the Gorner- grat offers a panoramic view of the mountains that couldn’t be more breath-taking and the ‘Matterhorn Railway’ brings you right up close. Make your own ski movie Skimovie puts your very own skiing style on the net. Two cam- eras film winter sports devotees coming down Piste 65 (racing track). The 800-metre racing track starts at the Swisscom hut on Sandiger Boden (2,786 metres above sea-level) and descends parallel to the Theodulsee piste.
