Second Year COURSE DESCRIPTION This course focuses on the study of the structural, physical and chemical properties of hydrocarbons and main functional groups in organic chemistry, and methods for their preparation. The mechanistic aspects of the main types of reactions are specially stressed. COMPETENCIES/LEARNING RESULTS FOR THE SUBJECT SKILLS OF THE ESSENTIAL MODULE to be worked in this course: 1. (MO2CM02) To know the structure, properties, preparation methods and most important chemical reactivity for the chemical compounds, both organic and. Inorganic. 2. (MO2CM09) Ability to explain phenomena and processes related to chemistry, orally and in writing. 3. (MO2CM10) Ability to search for and select information in the field of chemistry and other scientific fields using the literature sources and information technologies. 4. To know the properties, nomenclature, stereochemistry and reactivity of aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, and main functional groups containing heteroatoms. 2.
