Vigo University Campus VIGO UNIVERSITY CAMPUS PROJECT DESCRIPTION The project analyzed the configuration of the entrance to the campus of the University of Vigo, the transformation of the sports area, the urbanization of the new commercial area and the introduction of a parking complex. The campus transformed the place into a unified built landscape. One of the ways to access this landscape is through the sports area, and this includes extensive reforestation of the land, as well as the installation of a series of ponds. Therefore, the visitor enters the complex through a lush forest, and students can exercise among the trees. The commercial area gives the place a shopping center and residences in buildings that comply with the topography: this is partially achieved by entering the open square with a canopy of metal mesh supported by columns and covered with tropical wood. The façades of the different buildings are covered with granite-clad concrete. The ceilings, also made of concrete, serve as home to the restaurant, which is accessed by the central staircase of the complex. • Parque De Los Colores

EURAU’12 ABSTRACT: This article attempts to show the influence of Enric Miralles’ project in Santa Rosa’s park (1992-2001), in Mollet del Vallés (North-West of Barcelona). How in the middle of an empty, degraded, and useless field, the contemporaneous architect assumes the responsibility of intervene to give live to this wasteland generating an ideal landscape, amending the breach previously existing in the surroundings. This project proves that there are still some models and practices that enlighten the future of public space in contemporary city. The park shows that the local authorities chose the right man for the job.
